Chapter 195: A Man in Love Has Zero IQ

The secretary brought in two cups of coffee, placing them on the table with a rush, stealing a glance at the man before her. Even a brief look was enough to brighten her entire day. After all, who wouldn’t be delighted at the sight of something so pleasing?

Especially when the two men in front of her were as stunning as figures from a Greek fresco, albeit slightly overdressed. She dared not linger her gaze, fearful that a single cold, stern look from Damien Sterling might cost her the job—a not uncommon occurrence.

Logan Harrington’s eyes sparkled with a golden sheen upon hearing Damien Sterling’s words, as if savoring the advice, "To win over a woman, you must first win over her friends."

Suddenly, as if struck by enlightenment, Logan lifted his head to look at Damien, his eyes bright with zeal, revealing the image of a man deeply in love.

Logan’s realization of love may have come later than most, but such profound affection often leads to uncertain outcomes. This time, his unusually deep infatuation had an unpredictable future.

Damien Sterling shook his head, seemingly uninterested in the infatuated state of the man before him.

Logan Harrington approached, mumbling to himself, then picked up the coffee from the table and brought it to his lips, taking a big gulp.

Splutter--

Like a fountain, Logan spat out the coffee. What was that? The scalding coffee nearly burned his mouth.

"Ah... it’s so hot...," Logan’s mouth could barely close from the burn.

Damien Sterling, on the other side, let out a hearty laugh.

Logan glared at Damien, accusing, "What kind of friend are you, just watching me scald myself?"

Damien picked up a pen from the table and signed a document, mocking, "It’s common sense."

Logan gave Damien a disdainful look, "Not a good brother at all."

"In the throes of love, a man’s IQ plummets to zero," Damien Sterling ribbed Logan Harrington.

Observing Damien’s composed demeanor, Logan couldn’t help but recall moments when he was anything but composed, thanks to that woman, "Easy for you to say when you’re not in my shoes!"

Damien, in a moment of frustration, flung a document from his desk towards Logan, who deftly dodged it.

With a teasing gesture, Logan hurried towards the door, "Little brother’s off to woo his lady!"

Despite himself, a small smile tugged at Damien’s lips as he shook his head in resignation. He wondered if Logan had turned into a complete fool.

Pressing a buzzer, Damien signaled for the mess on the floor to be cleaned. After the secretary had tidied up, Damien handed him the signed documents.

The secretary, after a cursory glance, frowned and looked up.

"What’s wrong?" Damien inquired.

"Sir, you’ve signed in the wrong place," the secretary cautiously pointed out, ensuring the mistake was indeed on Damien’s part—a rare oversight for him.

Taking back the document with a furrowed brow, Damien signed it anew. It seemed he was no better off than Logan in matters of intellect.

Within the company, Emma Hart placed a file on her desk, a task assigned by Sophia Greenwood, and quickly left the room, dreading both a personal summons by Sophia and the potential for new assignments.

Emma’s day was devoid of downtime, especially with Amelia Davidson calling her.

Descending to the lobby, Emma failed to spot Amelia’s car but noticed a sleek black Maybach parked nearby.

The man inside, radiating enthusiasm, beckoned, "Emma, over here!" It was Logan Harrington again.

As Emma approached, she saw Amelia behind him. Logan leaned over to open the passenger door, urging, "Emma, come on."

Emma Hart looked at Logan Harrington standing before her, his demeanor unexpectedly pleasant—a stark contrast to his initial disdain, when he seemed to lump her together with those he considered flamboyant and unworthy.

Rolling her eyes at Logan Harrington, Emma declared, "I’m not sitting in the passenger seat!" As she opened the car door, she caught sight of Amelia Davidson sitting in the back.

A single glance from Emma was all it took for Amelia to grasp her intent, responding with a helpless shrug, "My car broke down!" Amelia gestured towards Logan with a tilt of her chin, "He just happened to be passing by."

Logan chuckled, looking at the two beautiful women in his rearview mirror, "It’s all fate, destiny!"

Amelia paused, looking at Logan with a puzzled expression, "You didn’t happen to sabotage my tire, did you?"

Upon hearing this, Logan immediately put on an aggrieved face, defending himself, "That’s a false accusation, sister! Would I ever do something like that?"

From the back, Emma chimed in, "You’re capable of setting Amelia’s car on fire."

Logan smirked, jokingly replying, "Emma really gets me."

Amelia let out a cold snort, followed by a gentle laugh. This tender smile caught Logan’s attention; he couldn’t help but mirror Amelia’s smile. It was a smile that shook his very soul, making him reluctant to look away from the rearview mirror’s reflection of Amelia.

Logan had never understood how a loved one’s smile could feel like being given the whole world until he met Amelia. Now, he truly believed in the power of such a moment.

Emma, looking ahead, warned, "Watch out for the car!" prompting Logan to redirect his attention forward.

Outside the Sterling Group’s entrance, a crowd of media had gathered. Emma passed by, wondering, "What’s the big news at Sterling Group today?" She followed her curiosity through the crowd, asking, "Who’s arrived?"

A limousine parked at the entrance, its path marked by a red carpet leading to the company’s doors—a sight reminiscent of a glamorous event. The first thing to emerge from the vehicle was a long leg, surprisingly bare despite the cold weather. Emma shivered at the sight.

Then, the woman donned a long trench coat, revealing a short black lace camisole underneath, the epitome of mature charm—Nina Waters? With large sunglasses covering half of her face, it was hard to tell; after all, many in the entertainment industry seemed to share the same surgeon. Emma wasn’t sure who she was looking at until the media around her erupted in excitement, "Nina Waters! Nina Waters!"

Indeed, it was her. Emma had never been much interested in celebrities, especially not in someone like Nina Waters, known for her scandalous headlines—whether for dating a real estate mogul or breaking up a wealthy marriage. Clearly, she was not someone to admire. Emma lost interest and turned towards the company building.
