Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 178: Love at First Sight

Chapter 178: Love at First Sight

No sooner had they seated themselves than Logan Harrington came forward to offer his attentions, his gaze, however, never straying from Amelia Davidson.

"No, no, let’s move to a private room," he insisted.

Emma Hart looked up, puzzled. "But we were told there were no private rooms available just a moment ago," she objected.

Logan’s eyes remained fixed on Amelia, who seemed to ignore his stares completely.

His tone, usually so bold and brash, softened considerably. "Maybe not for others, but how could we not have one for you?" he retorted, his demeanor hinting at the lengths men go to impress women.

Emma couldn’t help but recall the type of women she usually saw Logan with—overly dramatic and coquettish. Was Amelia Davidson, with her mature charm, really Logan’s type?

Emma watched, following Logan’s enamored gaze toward Amelia.

Without hesitation, Amelia gathered her belongings. "Let’s head to the private room," she declared.

Logan eagerly led the way. Once inside and after ordering, Logan sent off the menu and took his seat, leaving Emma wondering about his intentions.

"You’re not leaving?" Emma bluntly asked. She had always been straightforward, even with Damien Sterling and his friends. Given she preferred to keep her relationship with Damien private, Logan’s presence was less than ideal.

Emma shot him a look, a clear warning not to overstep during the meal. Yet Logan seemed utterly oblivious to Emma’s hints, captivated by Amelia.

A casual hair flip from Amelia elicited an awestruck sigh from Logan, leaving Emma baffled by his exaggerated reaction. It appeared Logan had truly lost his heart to Amelia.

Mid-meal, Logan suddenly remembered something. "Excuse me for a moment," he said, leaving Emma almost choking on her food in surprise at his formal tone—a rarity for him.

Emma’s look towards Amelia was one of shared amusement, clearly understanding each other’s thoughts on Logan’s behavior.

Amelia’s response was simple. "Let’s eat."

Logan returned shortly, bearing a bottle of red wine. "Nothing pairs with hotpot quite like red wine," he announced.

Emma paused, wondering if she had heard him correctly.

Hotpot with red wine? She looked at Logan, her expression a mix of amusement and disbelief, at the man who had seemingly abandoned all pretense.

Logan Harrington scratched his head, a gesture of confusion rarely seen on him, signaling he was aware of the faux pas he’d just committed.

Yet, Emma Hart had barely encountered him a handful of times to see such a side of him.

"Then let’s take this red wine with us for the road!" he exclaimed.

Drink on the road? What? Emma couldn’t help but think of the absurdity of the suggestion, given they had driven here.

Was Logan Harrington really making such a jumbled proposal?

Amelia Davidson couldn’t help but let out a laugh, "Little brother, stop trying to impress. I’m a good ten years older than you, remember?"

"Age is just a number," Logan retorted with a mischievous smile, though his eyes never left Amelia.

With a resigned sigh, Amelia conceded, "Fine, have it your way."

After dinner, Logan presented the two with a $10,000 membership card, cheerfully seeing them off behind their car, "Looking forward to your next visit!"

Once in the car, Emma Hart resignedly noted, "Seems like the young master has taken a liking to you."

Amelia scoffed, "As if I need a playboy’s love."

Amelia then nonchalantly lit a cigarette, her effortless coolness evoking envy in Emma.

To Emma, it seemed Amelia didn’t need love, but in her eyes, everyone needed love in some form.

For the first time in a while, Emma Hart could leave work on time, just like everyone else. The moment she clocked out, a message from Damien Sterling popped up, "Wait for me."

Just two words, no need for a time or place, Emma obediently headed to their usual spot in the alley across from the company. Sneaking into the car had become a ritual for them.

As soon as Emma slid into the car, a pair of large hands enveloped hers. Startled, she instinctively tried to pull away until she looked up into Damien Sterling’s face, realizing not only was he no stranger, but their intimacy perhaps warranted such boldness. Surrendering, Emma allowed the contact.

Damien’s hands seemed to explore the coolness of Emma’s, which had chilled from her dash across the street from the office.

The warmth from Damien’s palms quickly invaded Emma’s cold hands, making her wonder if such warmth could really emanate from him, given his usually icy demeanor.

Glancing down at the smooth, unlined hands enveloping hers, Emma thought, how could a man maintain such perfect skin, leaving women envious?

Damien didn’t withdraw his hands, instead looking disdainfully at Emma, "Did you walk out of a freezer or what?"

Emma pouted, the office’s air conditioning was indeed strong, but the journey had been particularly chilly.

"Starting tomorrow, I’ll walk you to the parking lot."

"No!" Emma Hart quickly objected. She had made it clear from the start that she didn’t want to be seen.

As Emma spoke, her hand twitched within Damian Sterling’s grasp. He immediately tightened his hold on her, as if afraid she might escape.

Emma glanced down at their intertwined hands, then quickly averted her gaze, as if by reflex.

Did he really want to hold onto her so tightly? Was he that afraid of losing her? With so many women around him, why did it have to be her?

Perhaps realizing his own action, Damian Sterling looked out the window, slightly loosening his grip, yet Emma didn’t pull her hand away. The atmosphere in the car suddenly became slightly awkward.

"What do you think love is?" Emma suddenly asked, reminded of Amelia Davidson’s indifferent attitude earlier. There must be some story behind it, right?

Damian slowly turned to look at Emma, fixing her with a steady gaze. Love, that sentimental thing? It even seemed laughable to him. How was he supposed to answer that? Besides, he wasn’t interested in discussing such topics with her. Yet, at the mention of "love," Damian’s mind flashed with Emma’s name.

Looking into Damian’s deep eyes, bottomless and dark enough to instill fear, Emma hastily looked away, as if avoiding something.

"Who did you have lunch with?" Damian asked after a moment.

Lunch? Logan Harrington must have gone to Damian, perhaps?

"Could he really be serious about Amelia Davidson?" Emma couldn’t help but laugh. "The playboy has a serious side?" It seems the news had even reached Damian.

"Amelia Davidson?" Damian asked, frowning.
