Chapter 979: Chapter 972: Unexpected Gains
"It can’t be wrong." Luo’er had only read this far when Cheng Ziang retracted his hand, then carefully replaced the pendant on the mummy.
"He is Karis Brunch, your ancestor..." Luo’er looked at Cheng Ziang and said hesitantly.
"And she," Cheng Ziang turned his face, looking at the remains on the ground with a complex gaze, "must be the Snow Elf Liseya, Karis Brunch’s beloved, and possibly my ancestor as well."
"With that, all the questions are answered," Baiyue stepped forward and said calmly, "Ziang’s Snow Elf bloodline most likely comes from Snow Elf Liseya. That is to say, she and Karis indeed had descendants together."
"But if they truly loved each other, why were they not buried together in the end? Karis lies in a coffin, while Liseya is lying outside?" Tangmo asked with a puzzled face.
"Moumou." Luo’er turned his head back, calling out helplessly.
"What is it, did I say something wrong?" Tangmo asked, eyes wide open.
"The Elf Race has a lifespan spanning thousands of years, so no matter what, they were bound not to end together," Baiyue explained coldly, "After Karis’s death, Liseya probably followed in his footsteps shortly after, dying of sorrow in front of her lover’s coffin."
"Exactly," Luo’er nodded, then said to Tangmo, "If Liseya did not die for love, she would probably be alive in our era, but that would be meaningless for her, just an endless suffering."
"Yes, just an endless suffering..." Baiyue murmured softly, her eyes reflecting a touch of melancholic emotion.
Cheng Ziang stood up, then carefully closed the coffin. As the coffin slowly sealed, the Flying Head Monster finally calmed down, floating in mid-air, sadly watching Cheng Ziang.
"Are you Liseya, my ancestor?" Cheng Ziang gazed at her tenderly and reached out his hand. Noticing his gesture, the Flying Head Monster entwined itself around his fingers with its hair strands.
"But then, a new problem arises," Tangmo said thoughtfully, head bowed.
"What problem?" Luo’er asked, puzzled.
"How do the dead become ghosts?" Tangmo asked.
"The dead, how do they... become..." Luo’er stammered, struggling to grasp her intended meaning.
"Right, if she is Liseya, how did she come to look like this?" Baiyue also caught on, frowning uncertainly.
"Uh..." But at that moment, Luo’er still appeared utterly clueless.
"Luo’er, Luo’er, look at me!" Seeing this, Fulajie’er flew in front of him to remind him.
Luo’er looked up at Fulajie’er, blinked, and finally realized the problem at hand: "Right, if that’s the case, then how did she come to be as she is now? Shouldn’t her spirit have dissipated directly?"
"Could it be a fluke formation?" Baiyue wondered, frowning in thought.
"Hm," Luo’er pondered, then turned to Axia, who had been silent throughout, and asked, "Aunt Axia, in all your long years, have you ever seen a Snow Elf die and by chance become a god?"
"Impossible," Axia shook her head, firmly denying Luo’er’s suggestion, "There’s no way someone can become a god directly after death in the real world, not Snow Elves, not the Aud people either."
"Gods are unique creations, constrained by magical components to keep souls lingering in the world. Although it may seem fantastical, the internal combination of magical components is very precise and complex. Natural circumstances simply do not allow for such a coincidental transformation into a god," Tangmo explained, furrowing her brow.
"Just like with Fulajie’er," Tangmo cited an example, pointing at Fulajie’er, "The first time her sister Nightingale built a body for her using magic, she used dozens of Rune plates and a bunch of high-concentration Magic Crystals just to reveal her original form. Had it been under natural conditions, such a fluke would not have occurred, just as a nuclear reactor cannot form naturally on Earth, the principle is the same."
"I remember a magazine mentioning a natural reactor on Earth, called the Oklo Reactor, I think," Luo’er scratched his head.
"That’s just tabloid literature," Tangmo rolled her eyes dismissively.
"Indeed, transforming a person into a god is a precise and grandiose endeavor; no matter how coincidental, it cannot naturally occur. Liseya’s existence proves that she definitely used some method to turn herself into a god," Baiyue analyzed, frowning.
"Method?" Luo’er asked.
"Like, a god-making facility!" Tangmo suggested an idea.
Combining both their answers, although Luo’er was still somewhat confused, a clear answer was gradually forming in his mind. He turned to Talis and asked, frowning, "Hey, Night Elf, what exactly are you looking for in this tomb?"
"That’s none of your business!" Talis replied rudely.
"Are you looking for a god-making facility?" Luo’er pressed on.
"No!" Talis refuted his assumption without hesitation.
"Then what exactly are you looking for?" Luo’er asked.
"That’s none of your concern. We had an agreement before; you seek your items, we seek ours, and we don’t interfere with each other," Talis stated firmly.
"Okay then." Luo’er nodded, not probing any further.
"Luo’er, have you thought of something?" Noticing Luo’er’s expression, Baiyue couldn’t help asking.
"We mentioned before that this guy probably has a life-gate, just like Fula, I don’t know if you remember it," Luo’er said.
"We did mention it," Baiyue and Tangmo looked at each other and then nodded in agreement.
"If Fula’s life-gate is this crystal, then where is hers?" Luo’er said while watching the Flying Head Monster with narrowed eyes.
Hearing Luo’er’s words, they paused to think, then said excitedly, "You mean to say that deep within this tomb, there could be a hidden god-making facility?"
"Exactly," Luo’er nodded, then said excitedly, "Because of a life-gate, Fula can only move within the radius of the crystal. If that creature also has a life-gate, it means her life-gate is probably nearby, and there is a high chance it is a god-making facility. Only this explanation could account for her current state."
