Chapter 972: Chapter 965: Breaking Through the Barrier
He reached out, lightly twining the Flying Head Monster’s silver-white hair, which drifted like ripples on water. Logically, he shouldn’t have been able to touch the insubstantial Flying Head Monster, but then a surprising scene unfolded.
The Flying Head Monster stared at his hand and then used her drifting hair to wrap around it, tightly encasing his palm, although he couldn’t physically feel a thing. However, in his heart, he had already experienced that wonderfully smooth sensation.
Cheng Ziang stared at the Flying Head Monster. Although she still looked terrifying, for some reason, after seeing her again, Cheng Ziang found that he was no longer as frightened of her as before.
She gave Cheng Ziang a strange feeling, like that of a familiar person. His entanglement with the Flying Head Monster felt like the relationship between Luo’er and Fulajie’er.
"So, can I, um, go inside?" Hesitating for a moment, Cheng Ziang coughed slightly and then asked with hand gestures.
The Flying Head Monster listened to his words restlessly and took a while before finally nodding gently. Her movements were light, and her hair swayed back and forth as she nodded.
"I can?" Cheng Ziang’s eyes widened with joy as he asked.
This time, the Flying Head Monster responded even quicker, nodding firmly. She probably guessed what he wanted to express after seeing the look on his face.
"That’s great, that’s really great." Cheng Ziang clapped his hands excitedly.
After all, as long as he was qualified to enter, that meant most of the problem was already solved. The rest could even be handled by him alone, without Luo’er. But after some thought, Cheng Ziang still decided to ask if he could bring Luo’er and the others in too.
After all, the Advance Team was accompanied by a Night Elf, who hadn’t made her desires clear, so there was no way for him to act on her behalf.
This Night Elf played a major role in the Advance Team’s landing on Xia Yue Island, so she shouldn’t be neglected. After all, Luo’er still needed to reach Xia Yue Island to sever the link. The Advance Team’s troubles were as plentiful as hairs on an ox. Solving one was one less to worry about.
Thinking thus, Cheng Ziang took a deep breath and then raised his head. The Flying Head Monster was gazing intensely at him. Suddenly seeing her pupil-less eyes made Cheng Ziang’s heart race uncontrollably.
"Um, what I mean to say is, sister, my friends, companions... can they come in?" Cheng Ziang didn’t know what had come over him. Normally without a stammer, he now found himself stumbling over his words, taking a long time to get out a complete sentence.
But to his relief, although the Flying Head Monster was still unsteady, she listened earnestly until he finished his last word. From past experience, Cheng Ziang knew she would need some time to think.
Sure enough, before Cheng Ziang could even think to react, the Flying Head Monster suddenly exploded on the spot, disappearing without a trace. While Cheng Ziang was affected by the explosive magical force, it wasn’t strong, so he was unhurt.
"Whew, was my suggestion too much..." Surprised, Cheng Ziang took a long breath, then looked around as he spoke.
"Cheng Ziang, what exactly is your relationship with that thing?" Just then, Fulajie’er suddenly appeared before him, giving Cheng Ziang such a fright that his scalp went numb and his hairs stood on end.
"Granny, don’t pop up so unexpectedly, you almost scared my heart out of my chest!!" Cheng Ziang said, clutching his violently thumping heart and speaking with lingering fear and dissatisfaction.
"What do you mean? We were just having a laugh, and now you’ve met this woman, and you forgot all about me?" Fulajie’er placed her hands on her hips, looming over him disapprovingly as she fumed.
"I haven’t forgotten about you. Let’s not squabble over this right now, Miss High and Mighty," Cheng Ziang sighed and shook his head, finally understanding what it felt like when Luo’er argued with her.
"Hmph," Fulajie’er flew next to Cheng Ziang, then settled down, legs crossed, on top of his head, cradling her cheeks with her hands, "You seemed to enjoy that quite a bit just now; I worried about you for nothing."
"Enjoy it? I’m not into non-humans," Cheng Ziang said, covering his face.
"What is ’into non-humans’?" Fula asked curiously.
"Never mind," Cheng Ziang waved his hand and then continued, "Speaking of which, you were quite composed just now, not acting immediately. I was worried about you."
"Worried I’d act rashly?" Fula asked with an unfriendly expression.
"Yeah." Cheng Ziang nodded.
"Go die, you jerk!" Fulajie’er cursed loudly.
"Don’t be so vicious, I’m actually complimenting your progress," Cheng Ziang said unconcernedly.
"I don’t need your compliments, I know I’ve improved!" Fulajie’er huffed angrily.
"Hey," Cheng Ziang suggested, "why don’t you follow her inside and take a look, scout ahead for us, and maybe, what do you call it..."
"What do you call it?" Fulajie’er didn’t quite catch his implication.
"Well," Cheng Ziang looked around, then pursed his lips and spoke in a lowered voice, "I mean, go find her Achilles’ heel!"
"Wow," Fulajie’er looked at him with contempt and said, "That person isn’t even hurting you, and you’re still thinking about her life spot, you’re too wicked."
"Gotta have a backup plan. Who knows why she’s not hurting me, maybe she wants to lure me in and eat me," Cheng Ziang shrugged and spread his hands as he spoke.
"For someone like you, if she ate you, she’d probably chip a tooth," Fulajie’er said with a smile on her face, teasingly looking at him.
"You," Cheng Ziang was almost left breathless by her retort, coughed, and couldn’t help but ask, "Who taught you to talk like that?"
"Hu Daoke!" Fulajie’er replied without hesitation.
"I knew it was him, that bastard, bitch!" Cheng Ziang cursed viciously.
"What does bitch mean?" Fulajie’er asked curiously.
"It means to compliment him for being handsome!" Cheng Ziang said through clenched teeth.
"Oh!" Fulajie’er nodded her head in sudden understanding.
However, Cheng Ziang clearly no longer needed Fulajie’er to go inside because while they were talking, the Flying Head Monster arrived in front of him with lightning speed, stopping abruptly. The speed was so fast that even Fulajie’er didn’t have time to react and vanish, still sitting on Cheng Ziang’s head, picking at her feet.
"Oh my, should I... quietly walk away..." Faced with the sudden appearance of the Flying Head Monster, Fulajie’er was so startled that she stammered the question.
However, the Flying Head Monster was clearly not even slightly concerned about Fulajie’er, her gaze firmly fixed on Cheng Ziang’s face. Facing his surprised expression, the Flying Head Monster nodded gently once again.
"You, you, you, you agree to let my friend come in?" Cheng Ziang couldn’t wrap his head around it, stuttering for a while without being able to finish a sentence.
No sooner had his words ended than the Flying Head Monster nodded again gently.
"Hey, so, you, you promise not to harm them?" Cheng Ziang asked with wide eyes.
This time the Flying Head Monster needed some time to digest his words. She circled around Cheng Ziang, forming a halo around him. Fulajie’er, sitting on his head, clapped her hands excitedly as she watched the circle of light.
It didn’t take long for the Flying Head Monster to process his words. Then she stopped moving, flying up to him and nodding again.
"Really? Can they really come in?" Cheng Ziang fell into a state of joy once more.
Yet even amidst his happiness, he still harbored a lingering worry. He took a deep breath, straightened his expression, and said, "Then, what I mean is, we might need to take some things from here, is that okay?"
Facing Cheng Ziang’s hopeful expression, the Flying Head Monster worked hard to digest his sentence. Cheng Ziang’s repeated pushing of boundaries didn’t seem to anger her, and her demeanor remained unchanged.
After about three minutes, the Flying Head Monster flew up to Cheng Ziang. This time she didn’t nod, but instead looked at Fulajie’er sitting on his head and gestured with her hair, signaling "come
