Chapter 958: Chapter 951: Guarding Each Other

"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, the one who should be injured is me, I’m so sorry..." Feng fell headlong into the snow, and for the first time, the usually reticent girl strongly expressed her own emotions.

"Feng, what are you doing? It’s not your fault," Cheng Ziang sniffled, then turned his head to look at her and said.

"It is my fault. I failed to protect Luo’er, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry..." Feng choked up, too distraught to finish her sentence.

Faced with Feng’s attitude, Cheng Ziang found himself at a loss for words. After a long silence, he shook his head and sighed, "That’s just how it is with small teams. Everyone is too concerned with each other’s safety, and we can never make the most rational decisions. She’s not up to it, I’m not up to it, and you, the captain, aren’t either, sigh..."

"Are you hurt?" After his reflection, Cheng Ziang looked at Feng with a face full of concern and asked.

"I’m fine...sob, I, I’m not afraid of this kind of injury, I’m afraid of Luo’er getting hurt, I...sob," Feng sobbed out.

Hearing her words, Cheng Ziang felt a flash of realization and fell into deep thought. Indeed, Feng’s potential was beyond his imagination; such thick, almost liquid magic passing through her body yet not inflicting serious harm.

Without a doubt, Feng was not from this world, or at least not from this continent. Because even a magical prodigy or a pure-blooded elf would struggle to withstand such a concentrated blast of magic. Broken blood vessels were the least of it; once the internal organs were eroded, there really would be no coming back.

He and Luo’er had watched, helpless, as Feng was hit directly by that terrifying blow. After being unconscious for a while, she got up by herself, which undoubtedly shook up their worldview once again.

They sat in silence for almost half an hour, during which Fulajie’er had been treating Luo’er, chanting spells without pause.

"Luo’er!!!"

Soon after, a heart-wrenching cry came from afar, followed by the rest of the Advance Team rushing over hastily.

Tangmo and Baiyue, ignoring the corpses around the campsite, scrambled to their side and saw Luo’er lying pale on Cheng Ziang’s thigh with traces of dried blood still visible at his mouth and nose.

Seeing Luo’er in such a terrible state, Tangmo could not hold back any longer, and with a cry, lunged toward him, only to be irritably pushed away by Cheng Ziang, falling on her backside in the snow.

"Luo’er is receiving treatment. Do you want him to die?" Cheng Ziang glared at them and said irritably.

"Treatment, treatment, I can also do treatment, let me treat him..." Tangmo was startled for a moment before frantically searching for her magic wand.

"Stop adding to the chaos. Having Fula here is enough. Get away from here, and don’t come near this camp!" Cheng Ziang said, frowning.

"I want to see Luo’er wake up," Tangmo said through her tears.

"Old Hu, drag your sister away. You all need to leave, that guy might come back!" Cheng Ziang turned to Hu Daoke and said.

"What exactly happened? What’s wrong with the boss?" Hu Daoke stood there, at a loss, and asked.

"We were complacent," Cheng Ziang sighed and then said firmly, "Hurry and go. That guy won’t hurt us anymore, but I can’t say the same for you!"

"Luo’er, Luo’er..." Tangmo cried with a face like a pear blossom bathed in rain.

"Can’t you all be a bit more rational, for God’s sake? Luo’er has seen prophecies; he can’t just die that easily. You all lose your minds the moment something happens to him. What do you look like? If the enemy attacks us now, are you all prepared to be wiped out?" Cheng Ziang was livid and cursed fiercely through clenched teeth.

"Sister Moumou, Luo’er will be okay..." Baiyue took a step forward, grabbed Tangmo’s arm, and said with a trembling voice.

"What on earth happened?" Axia couldn’t help but step forward, asking with concern, "Did that ghost do this to you all?"

Cheng Ziang glanced at her, managed to suppress his inner fury, and took a deep breath before saying, "Now is not the time to talk. Could you please fall back for now? We will rejoin you and explain what happened once Luo’er wakes up."

"Sorry, then we’ll head back first," Axia nodded; she could tell Knight Cheng Ziang wanted to protect them, so she wasn’t angry at his attitude.

"Feng, you should go with them and let Moumou treat the injuries on your body." Seeing Axia being so understanding, Cheng Ziang’s originally explosive temper had also calmed down quite a bit, so he then turned his head and said to Feng.

"What about Luo’er..." Feng sniffled, hesitating.

"With me and Fulajie’er here, he will be fine," Cheng Ziang said calmly.

"Then, should I leave?" Feng wasn’t as indecisive as the others.

"Yes, go ahead. Leave this place to us, and don’t get hurt again," Cheng Ziang nodded and said.

"Old Cheng, we’ll camp on the high ground and stand by; I’ll protect you with my spear. If there’s any danger, run to the high ground, and I’ll cover you." Before leaving, Hu Daoke seriously said to Cheng Ziang.

"Thanks!" Cheng Ziang nodded gratefully.

"Take good care of the boss, don’t let anything happen to him, please..." Hu Daoke pursed his lips, then, along with Baiyue, helped the reluctant Tangmo to leave the area.

Fulajie’er floated quietly in mid-air, eyes closed, intently chanting spells. In fact, Cheng Ziang couldn’t guarantee Luo’er’s safety, either. If it was just damaged veins, then they could be healed with Resurrection Magic, but if the magic power had penetrated into the internal organs, it would be beyond hope, and Luo’er would meet the same fate as his father.

With the prophecy as his confidence, Cheng Ziang wasn’t excessively worried and inclined to believe that Luo’er had only sustained vein damage. Though the vein damage seemed frightening on the surface, it was not particularly fatal as long as the organs hadn’t been corroded by magic power.

A cold wind howled in, and it was only then that Cheng Ziang felt the cold. Fortunately, the undergarment he wore had absorbed most of his sweat, and his outer coat was imprinted with runes that could generate heat, so even in such a freezing snowy environment, he wasn’t too cold.

He sat quietly on the ground, waiting for Luo’er’s awakening. He didn’t know how much time had passed when he, half-dazed, heard a moan from below and suddenly opened his eyes.

Luo’er was writhing, coughing violently while frowning, spitting out clotted blood from his mouth, and then struggled to get up from the ground.

"Awake?" Cheng Ziang looked tiredly at Luo’er, who was now face to face with him, a look of relief on his face.

"Where are the others?" At that moment, Luo’er’s head was still a bit fuzzy, and after looking around, he asked with a puzzled face.

"Everyone’s safe, it’s just you left," Cheng Ziang said, and his body, tense all night long, finally couldn’t hold out, and he collapsed uncontrollably but was caught in time by Luo’er.

"Are you okay?" Luo’er asked, supporting Cheng Ziang with concern.

"Ah, I’m exhausted; I want to sleep for a while. Don’t wake me for meals," Cheng Ziang said with a smile, slowly closing his eyes.

"Ziang, Ziang, don’t scare me..." Seeing him like this, Luo’er immediately panicked.

"Luo’er, this guy’s fine; that ghost didn’t attack him," Fulajie’er couldn’t help but interject to remind him.

"Didn’t attack him, what do you mean?" Luo’er asked Fulajie’er, blinking.

"Wuwu, Luo’er, you scared me to death; I thought you really died," Fulajie’er said, her voice growing more and more choked up until she burst into tears.

She threw herself onto Luo’er’s chest, wrapping her arms around his neck and letting her emotions run wild, while Luo’er stood frozen in place, trying to reach out to comfort her but was unable to catch her actual body, no matter how hard he tried.

Suddenly, as if she remembered something, she backed up almost a meter and then said excitedly, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I forgot you couldn’t withstand magic corrosion; my magic power must’ve hurt you, right? I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I got too carried away and didn’t notice."
