Chapter 947 - 940: Axia’s Thoughts
Chapter 947: Chapter 940: Axia’s Thoughts
"What are you three talking about?" Just as the three men were deep in conversation, Axia came over with a tray of hot drinks.
"Aunt Axia, you might have already been marked by someone." Luo’er picked up a hot drink and then said earnestly.
"I know." Axia nodded slightly, revealing an ambiguous smile.
"Aunt Axia, I’m not joking with you, nor trying to scare you, we are serious." Luo’er spoke with a solemn face.
"It doesn’t matter, after some time, I won’t be staying here anymore," Axia said.
"If you’re not staying here, then you..." Luo’er asked hesitantly.
"Aren’t you going to Xia Yue Island? I’d like to go as well," said Axia, looking at Luo’er.
"That, might not be appropriate, considering you are..." Luo’er said, his face full of worry.
"What’s inappropriate about it? If a Wood Elf like you dares to go, why would I, a Snow Elf, not dare to go?" Axia asked with a smile.
"It’s not that, uh, how should I put this..." Luo’er thought for a moment, then raised his head to look at her and said, "I’m very sorry for dragging you into the strife among us Earthlings. If it weren’t for us..."
"If it weren’t for you, I guess I would have already been captured by them," Axia said with narrowed eyes, "They came to know of my existence not entirely because of you, but rather..."
Saying so, Axia couldn’t help but let out a deep sigh and then turned to glance at Eve.
"You..." Luo’er hesitated to continue.
"I don’t hate her. Perhaps I also need some change to make my long life a bit more interesting," Axia mused.
"So, about our suggestion..." Luo’er asked, full of anticipation.
"Why are you always thinking of having me serve you?" Axia tilted her head and asked him.
"Desperate for talent," Luo’er blurted out in Chinese.
"What does that mean?" Axia asked.
"Uh, actually, it means we welcome and respect talents like you. We desire to be united with this world and therefore need many talents like you to join us," Luo’er said sincerely.
After listening to him, Axia remained silent for a moment and then said with a smile, "That will depend on your attitude."
"Eh, you agree to join us?" Luo’er asked, somewhat surprised.
"I didn’t say that," Axia shrugged.
"Okay, good, we will behave ourselves," Luo’er said excitedly, nodding.
"I have one more requirement," Axia said with a smile.
"Please speak," Luo’er nodded.
"You can’t give up on Eve. If she leaves, then I will leave as well," Axia turned to look at Eve and then said seriously.
"We won’t give up on her. After all, she’s also a half-Elf of the Elf Race. In the future, when we initiate the Elf Planet..." Luo’er started, but his voice suddenly stopped short, and he lowered his head.
Axia looked at him with surprise, and suddenly, as if she realized something, she abruptly reached out and grabbed Luo’er’s collar.
"What, why is this happening..." Seeing Axia’s abrupt action, Hu Daoke and Cheng Ziang were both stunned.
"Soul Summoning Bell!" Axia called out, frowning decisively.
Cheng Ziang was the first to react, rushing to Luo’er’s side to check the Soul Summoning Bell on him. It took a while to find the item, which was eventually discovered in his upper garment’s pocket.
Then, he grabbed the chain of the Soul Summoning Bell and shook it vigorously several times. The voice that had been lingering in everyone’s mind echoed in each person’s head, and it seemed as if the foam wrapped around Luo’er’s brain burst in an instant, awakening him immediately.
"I, I was controlled again?" Luo’er asked somewhat guiltily, looking at the worried faces around him.
"Didn’t I tell you to wear it around your neck? Why did you put it in your pocket?" Cheng Ziang held the Soul Summoning Bell as he came up to Luo’er, asking with an emotionless face.
"I, I was worried about affecting you guys, so..." Luo’er lowered his head and said guiltily.
"How old are you, still so thoughtless? Damn it, you’re still the Captain!" Cheng Ziang burst out angrily, cursing outright.
"Put it back on. You never learn, do you!" Cheng Ziang said with a look of exasperation, grinding his teeth in frustration.
"Boss, you, you should take better care of yourself, don’t always think you’re doing it for our sake..." Hu Daoke stepped forward, a rare occurrence of him not comforting Luo’er.
Actually, his anger was no less than Cheng Ziang’s, but he subconsciously felt that he did not have the same authority as Luo’er so he dared not scold Luo’er like Cheng Ziang did.
"I’m sorry, sorry..." Luo’er repeatedly apologized.
"Here we go again!" Cheng Ziang’s temper flared up once more.
"Why are you arguing again?" Noticing the dispute here, Tangmo walked over with a frown.
"Your good man here was almost seduced away by Tana." Cheng Ziang said expressionlessly.
"Good, a good scolding!" Tangmo applauded their actions, showing his approval.
"Alright, everyone, take a little break. Probably tomorrow or the day after, on a day with good weather, we’ll set off to catch up with those people. Since they want to enter the tomb, we’ll let them clear the way for us." Cheng Ziang cleared his throat and then said earnestly.
Following Cheng Ziang’s words, everyone dispersed to do their own thing, leaving only Luo’er and Axia standing awkwardly in place.
"You’re not very authoritative as a Captain," Axia said, shaking her head with a wry smile.
"People will make mistakes, and just because I’m the Captain does not mean my mistakes cannot be pointed out," Luo’er shrugged and replied.
"Actually, I can see," Axia said, "you could establish your authority, make your team members listen to you and treat you with great respect. But it seems you don’t want to do that."
"Well," Luo’er sighed and then said, "I still hope that I have a relatively equal relationship with everyone, not a system where I’m the only one who calls the shots without opposition. We’ve been through a lot together, we care for each other, so I don’t feel embarrassed by their criticism. Instead, I think it’s a testament to our bond."
"It’s really hard to understand," Axia shook her head and then said, "This must be a way of thinking unique to you Earthlings."
"It’s just a very simple concept of equality. That’s what we say, and that’s what we do," Luo’er replied, looking at Axia, "To us, whether noble or slave, half-blood or pureblood, everyone is equal. Only when everyone accepts this concept, can we embrace them."
"Do you want to spread Earth’s values to this world?" Axia asked.
"Pretty much," Luo’er nodded.
"Why? What’s the value in that?" Axia inquired.
"It’s a symbol of the advancement of civilization," Luo’er responded.
"Civilization?"
"Yes, civilization. A progressive civilization should not have discrimination, a progressive civilization should not have exploiters and the oppressed," Luo’er said earnestly, "We once experienced an era like the one your world is in now. Earth back then was even worse than this place by comparison. Now, we dare to call ourselves an advanced civilization because compared to this world, we indeed have progressed a lot."
"The Otherworld war of those years, there were tens of thousands of Allied Army soldiers who died in your world..." Axia narrowed her eyes, a touch of sadness appearing on her face.
"I have no intention of justifying that war, but I still want to state the facts," Luo’er looked at Axia, speaking sincerely, "During that war, all the Allied soldiers who surrendered were treated as prisoners of war deserve. Although it was the Manikens who captured them, they did not harm these prisoners. The real cause of most of the prisoners’ deaths was complications arising from a lack of mana. We tried to save their lives, but it was all in vain."
