Chapter 920: Chapter 913: Snow God Expulsion
The crisis resolved, the group supported each other as they made their way out of the passage, rather bedraggled, into the expansive chasm.
It was midday, and the sunlight poured through the narrow crevice above, shining straight down into the pit, creating a breathtaking One-Line Sky phenomenon.
Through the limited rays of light, they could make out the Snow God’s colossal form. It seemed very sensitive to the sunlight, shifting restlessly in its place and emitting heavy breaths.
Its claws tore at the layer of ice beneath its feet, producing a grating, tearing noise, as it attempted to submerge itself in water to escape the sunlight’s beams.
At the edge of the pit, Luo’er appeared thoughtful before speaking to the others, "Moumou, Little Ke, you two take everyone back to the surface."
"What about you? What are you going to do?" Tangmo asked anxiously.
"Nothing much, I just want to talk to the Snow God. Fula, you stay," Luo’er said nonchalantly.
"I’ll stay too. That way, if that lunatic comes out again, I can protect you," Tangmo said, stepping forward.
"Don’t be ridiculous. If she really comes out, none of us can beat her. Everyone is badly injured and in urgent need of you, the squad’s doctor, aren’t they?" Luo’er rejected the offer.
"Then, take care of yourself," Tangmo pursed her lips and couldn’t help adding, "Don’t get any stupid ideas..."
"What do you take me for?" Luo’er immediately showed an expression that was a mix of laughter and helplessness upon hearing her words.
After watching everyone depart, Luo’er turned back to the edge of the pit and then looked up into the empty air, asking, "Fulajie’er, can you communicate with the Snow God properly now?"
"I can, a little," Fulajie’er answered truthfully. "I don’t know how to say things that are too complicated."
"That’s alright; I won’t say anything complicated," Luo’er said, nodding in satisfaction.
After speaking, Luo’er lowered his head and squinted his eyes, lost in deep thought for a long time.
He had never been willing to believe in karma, following only his heart in his actions. However, he found solace in the fact that this cold world was not entirely heartless and indifferent. Some of his inadvertent acts of kindness often saved him at the most dangerous moments.
From the beginning of his contact with the Snow God, Luo’er had been very concerned with interacting and communicating. It wasn’t because he wanted to gain anything from the Snow God, but simply because he felt that was the right thing to do.
Previously, the Advance Team had suggested many selfish proposals, but Luo’er had dismissed most of them. His view was simple—there was no reason to harm a target that wasn’t an enemy, nor was there reason to deprive a relatively weaker group of their living space.
Although the Snow God could communicate with humans, it was essentially still an animal. Most people wouldn’t care about its rights—only Luo’er did. The reason they had lingered so long in this tomb was due to Luo’er’s demand not to disturb the life of the Snow God, and certainly not to harm it.
This seemingly unintentional act of kindness ended up helping the Advance Team through their toughest moment. Clearly, if Luo’er had not rejected those aggressive proposals and simply removed the Snow God as an obstacle to continue exploring the tomb, when the Advance Team encountered that metallic puppet, they would have faced an utterly hopeless, one-sided slaughter.
"Lord Snow God, I wish to express my gratitude for the aid you provided us in our time of peril. It was your generosity that allowed us to cling to life," Luo’er said, taking a deep breath before bowing slightly and speaking earnestly to the Snow God at the bottom of the pit after coming out of his reverie.
"Uh, I don’t know how to translate many of the words you used..." Fulajie’er said, looking troubled.
"Just get the main points across," Luo’er sighed, his attempt at solemnity disrupted by Fulajie’er.
Before Fulajie’er had time to fly down and communicate with the Snow God, they heard a deep response from the bottom of the pit.
"What did it say?" Luo’er looked at Fulajie’er and asked.
"Eh, let me ask." Fulajie’er said and then immediately flew towards the Snow God at the bottom of the pit.
After Fulajie’er flew down, the prolonged and orderly booming of the Snow God soon echoed from the bottom of the pit, clearly communicating with her.
Luo’er stood at the edge of the pit, quietly waiting for Fulajie’er’s response. The Snow God’s rumbling continued for a long time before gradually coming to a stop. Then, the magical energy in the air twisted, and Fulajie’er, glowing, quickly appeared in the dark midair.
"What did it say?" Luo’er asked impatiently.
"Well, how to put it..." Fulajie’er lowered her head, struggled for a while, and then sheepishly said, "The Snow God said it does not accept your thanks and is telling us to hurry and leave this place, to stop eyeing the things here."
"I see..." Luo’er nodded, then bowed his head in silence.
"Regardless, Your Excellency has indeed saved our Advance Team’s lives, and I, Luo’er, have decided to extend my utmost respect to you." After pausing, Luo’er sincerely bent at the waist and bowed as he spoke.
The Snow God clearly understood and heard Luo’er’s words, as soon as he finished speaking, the Snow God’s somber voice came from the pit again.
"What did it say?" Luo’er raised his head, instinctively looking at Fulajie’er.
"Eh, hurry up and leave, don’t come back..." Fulajie’er thought for a second and then honestly responded.
"You can understand the sounds it makes?" Luo’er blinked his eyes, asking with a hint of curiosity.
"Um... how to say it," Fulajie’er pondered and then with a frown spoke earnestly, "I can’t understand specifically, but listening to its voice, it just feels like that’s what it means..."
"Alright." Luo’er nodded again and then abruptly turned around, walking towards the exit.
Seeing him leave, Fulajie’er was taken aback for a moment, then quickly flew after him, whispering cautiously by his ear, "Luo’er, are we just leaving like this?"
The reason she asked was because she understood Luo’er. Luo’er was the kind of person who would not give up until he achieved his goal. Despite facing some setbacks at the moment, her instinct told her that Luo’er was definitely not going to give up easily.
"Sigh, we’ll talk about it later..." Luo’er pressed his lips together and spoke in a lowered voice.
Unlike Fulajie’er, Luo’er indeed needed to lower his voice to avoid being overheard by the Snow God.
As mentioned before, communication between the Advance Team members and Fulajie’er wasn’t conveyed through sound waves, but rather via touching the Soul Domain, creating a form of resonance. So in principle, as long as they were outside of Fulajie’er’s Domain, they wouldn’t be able to hear her speak.
Of course, Fulajie’er acting this way was also an instinctive reaction; after all, she was a living human who had transformed into a god, so many of her behaviors still showed human characteristics.
Furthermore, with Luo’er continually reinforcing the concept that she was human, Fulajie’er held a deep identification with her own identity, never considering herself special or a great god.
The failure of the Advance Team’s mission had both subjective and objective causes.
Many subjective reasons included being not cautious enough, miscoordination during danger, and having forces too dispersed, among others.
Objectively speaking, the main reason was just that — the metal puppet was simply too strong. When she fiercely resisted, the Advance Team could almost do nothing against her and were beaten into
