Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 918 - 911: A Complete Defeat

Chapter 918: Chapter 911: A Complete Defeat

The dense barrage of bullets pattered against the metal automaton’s body, resulting only in making the automaton take a slight step back. What surprised Hu Daoke most was the metal material of the automaton’s body.

Since the Advance Team used the old version of Breaking Method bullets, these bullets did not have the Kedal metal cores but adopted the traditional steel cores instead. Even so, the intensity of these steel-core bullets was extremely high.

And now, the bullets shattering and splattering upon hitting the metal automaton indicated only one explanation: the strength of the automaton’s metal was higher than that of the bullets. Considering this was the Otherworld, Hu Daoke suspected that the metal used for her body might very well be Kedal metal.

As mentioned before, Kedal metal has bullet resistance. Steel-core bullets, upon impact with this kind of metal, could still be torn and shattered. This meant that the Advance Team currently had no weapon that could effectively damage this metal automaton, inscribed with mixed Defense Runes and made of Kedal metal.

Hu Daoke tried to keep up the fire to suppress the opponent, but the metal automaton appeared unbothered. Feng noticed a detail, which was that she was clearly still wary, especially of getting hit in the joints around her waist and abdomen, reacting very strongly to Hu Daoke’s continuous fire suppression.

Glaring at Hu Daoke, the automaton stretched out her left hand, fingers spreading wide. In a flash, an arched invisible barrier surged up in front of her, blocking Hu Daoke’s sustained gunfire.

This metal automaton actually knew how to cast Defense Shield magic!

Breaking Method bullets were designed to counter Defense Runes, and, as the saying goes, "mastery of special skills," these bullets were powerless against Defense Shields. They could only opt to switch to shield-breaking bullets,

however, considering the pitiful shield penetration damage of these bullets, they likely wouldn’t be very effective against the metal automaton. Because after penetrating the shield, the magical effect produced by these bullets was extremely weak and couldn’t cause significant harm to a mage behind a Defense Shield, only being able to interfere with the chanting of Spells.

But the automaton before them didn’t need to chant Spells at all, because she didn’t even have a mouth, so interfering with spell casting was out of the question.

"Cease fire!" Feng shouted, then rushed forward with her sword drawn because she realized that the metal automaton was apparently preparing to launch an assault on Hu Daoke. Facing such a sudden attack, Hu Daoke was utterly unprepared.

While the metal automaton focused all her attention on Hu Daoke, Feng appeared at her side like a bolt of lightning, then raised her long sword for a thrust.

Feng’s long sword targeted the joint under the automaton’s left armpit, indeed one of the spots the automaton was most wary of. Unfortunately, Feng’s thrust couldn’t have much effect because the material of the automaton was there, making it so, even if Feng could strike the joints every time, she had no way to harm her.

Nevertheless, Feng’s attack drew the automaton’s attention. Without hesitation, she swung her left hand directly toward Feng’s head. Feng knew the force behind her blow; if she were hit, it was possible her brain matter would be knocked out.

Fortunately, her reaction was timely enough. As the automaton’s attack came sweeping in, Feng’s body leaned to the right while she ducked her head as low as possible, the automaton’s left hand whooshing past her ear.

When one strike failed, the metal automaton didn’t falter but continued her assault, leveraging the momentum from turning left and wide-kicked toward Feng’s abdomen.

This strike was unavoidable, and there was no time to step back. Gritting her teeth, Feng used the forearm of her sword-holding right hand to stubbornly block the hit.

The moment the automaton’s leg landed on her arm, Feng felt a surge of intense pain, nearly dropping her long sword from the agony.

But Feng remained level-headed, using the force of the attack to step back, retreating in a series of clumsy steps out of the automaton’s attack range.

She bit her lip, drawing breaths of cold air, clenching her aching right hand with her left. A large bulge swelled on her right arm, the pain nearly making it impossible to even hold her sword. The good news was, it seemed her arm wasn’t broken by the automaton’s kick.

Facing this formidable opponent, Feng felt powerless for the first time—magic attacks had no effect on her, and conventional close-quarters combat was also futile. The metal automaton’s strength was so immense that a direct hit could snap the weapon in her hand. If struck on her body, she would either break bones or suffer internal bleeding; there was no chance of resisting.

After several exchanges, Feng and Hu Daoke roughly determined that the material on the metal puppet’s body was definitely Kedal metal. This metal has many limitations, so right now, even the people on Earth haven’t been able to figure out its practical applications. Who on earth could use this metal to create an actively moving metal robot?

Keep in mind that just the resistance to collapse of Kedal metal already greatly affects its processing and production. The metal puppet before them had a rational structure and moved flexibly, a level that Earthlings had only just managed to achieve. The fact that Otherworld could produce such freely moving metal puppets more than a thousand years ago was truly a representation of black technology.

The metal puppet didn’t give Feng a chance to catch her breath. As soon as she stepped back, the puppet immediately followed, preparing for a new round of attacks.

Hu Daoke also noticed a detail; it seemed that the puppet would continuously attack the target that caught its attention, until the adversary was dead. From the past few exchanges, it was apparent the puppet wouldn’t easily switch its attack target mid-fight.

The metal puppet suddenly surged forward again, pouncing towards Feng. Facing her assault, Feng knew she couldn’t retreat and could only futilely raise her long sword, then activate a defense shield with her left hand, attempting to block the incoming attack.

Several times Hu Daoke lifted his weapon, but hesitated to open fire for fear of accidentally injuring Feng. Watching her being forcefully pushed back by the puppet’s attacks, Hu Daoke felt an urgency in his heart.

The metal puppet unleashed a Twin Dragons Emerge from the Sea, its fists powerfully striking the shield barrier in front of Feng. Its strength was so immense it caused visible ripples on the shield designed to withstand direct bullet shots.

Moreover, not only did the puppet’s power not diminish, it continued to break through Feng’s shield, which already seemed on the verge of collapse, and struck her chest with a punch.

Struck by the metal puppet in such a way, Feng let out a "wah" sound as she was sent flying backward. Fortunately, the defense shield she had raised had absorbed most of the force; otherwise, that punch would have pierced through her chest.

Feng was sent flying backward like a rag doll, rolling into the tomb chamber by the corridor and making a muffled impact sound, with her belongings scattering all around.

"Damn it!!!" Seeing this, Hu Daoke let out a roar of anger, and without bothering to reload, he just picked up the light machine gun and opened fire on the metal puppet.

Although the metal puppet was not afraid of the bullets, it clearly displayed a fear of such dense gunfire, somewhat guarding its vital joints.

It suddenly turned around, facing the intense barrage from Hu Daoke. Crossing its arms over its head, then it suddenly leaped up, delivering a sharp flying kick straight towards Hu Daoke.

"Clang!!!!"

An eerie collision sound echoed in the passage. As the metal puppet kicked at Hu Daoke, it noticeably slowed down suddenly. An invisible barrier had erected itself in front of Hu Daoke, staunchly resisting the puppet’s flying kick.

However, such was the puppet’s strength that despite the protection of the barrier, it still kicked Hu Daoke in the chest. He was unsurprisingly sent flying by the force, tumbling awkwardly on the ground for several rolls.

"Big guy, are you dead?" Fula’s anxious voice came through the air. Hu Daoke lay on the ground, taking a while to catch his breath before starting to cough violently.

"Don’t hurt them, I will be your opponent!" Fula clenched her teeth and said, her luminous figure appearing instantly in front of the metal puppet.

Upon seeing Fula, the metal puppet seemingly froze on the spot, not continuing the attack on Hu Daoke. It tilted its head as it sized up Fula, appearing disinterested, and stepped around her, ready to continue its attack on Hu Daoke.

"Ignoring me?" Fula said huffily, quickly positioning a shield in front of herself to block the metal puppet.
