Chapter 889: Chapter 882: Sleepwalking Prohibited
The Advance Team members all lay down in front of the underground fireplace, where a layer of flooring had been spread on the ground to ward off the damp.
Since it was an open sleeping area, both men and women had to squeeze together, which Luo’er knew was a situation that always gave him a headache. After more than half an hour of arguing, they finally decided to sleep with men on the left and women on the right, with Luo’er in the middle to separate them.
Of course, everyone was in sleeping bags, so it actually didn’t matter where you slept, but Tangmo and Baiyue placed great importance on the arrangement, and Luo’er had no choice but to let them have their way.
After discussing it between themselves, the two girls decided to take turns sleeping next to Luo’er. Tangmo, having won at rock-paper-scissors, got to sleep next to him that night.
Once they settled down to sleep, Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke unspokenly stopped bothering Luo’er and got together to chat, completely leaving Luo’er out. This left Luo’er with no choice but to endure Tangmo’s pestering by his side.
"Luo’er..." Tangmo spoke in a suggestive tone and then stretched a hand out from her sleeping bag, wrapping it around Luo’er’s neck.
Luo’er was startled, then smiled wryly and grabbed her hand to tuck it back in, "Stop messing around, it’s cold outside, don’t stretch your hand out."
"You know who I am?" Tangmo blinked coyly and asked.
"I’m just curious why you haven’t been coming out much lately," Luo’er said.
"Sigh," Tangmo heaved a sigh, then said helplessly, "Always pestering you, sister would be unhappy, too. What can I do if she’s not happy?"
"You could negotiate the times you come out," Luo’er suggested.
Upon hearing his words, Tangmo gave Luo’er a look, then narrowed her eyes and showed a sly smile. In a hushed voice, she said, "So you actually quite enjoy the feeling of being pursued by two sisters, huh?"
Luo’er was so shocked that he coughed embarrassingly, stuttering, "No, I meant, I—it’s just that I hope..."
"Sigh..." Tangmo let out a soft sigh, and her expression gradually faded. She looked at Luo’er again and then said earnestly, "Luo’er, if it really doesn’t work out, we should go back to Earth. You stayed in Otherworld to find your mother, didn’t you? Now that you’ve found her, you shouldn’t be too attached to this world anymore. Let’s go back, go back to school, study hard like students, and fall in love like college kids."
"Sigh, I wish I could," Luo’er also couldn’t help sighing, "Now I feel that I can’t leave this world. I have too many attachments here, no one can completely isolate them. If I go, who will take care of Fula? Who will take care of Feng? I do want to leave, but we’re not who we used to be anymore, we’ve put down roots in this world, it’s not that easy to leave."
"So you actually can’t let go of the other women," Tangmo said with a serious face, muttering.
"No, it’s not what you are thinking..." Luo’er explained with a wry smile.
"I understand," Tangmo reached out again and gently pinched Luo’er’s tender cheek, then said generously, "There are many kinds of feelings, but love is the purest. I used to think about possessing you, but now I understand that being nice to others doesn’t mean you like them, it’s just your way of expressing your emotions. Compared to that, you are much shyer when expressing love."
"I’m glad you’ve come to understand that, it has saved me a lot of trouble," Luo’er said with relief.
"Are you saying that I always used to cause you trouble?" Tangmo pinched his cheek a bit harder, then asked with pursed lips.
"Hey, it’s not like that..." Luo’er was taken aback and hurriedly defended himself.
"You don’t have to try to comfort me knowing what I used to be like," Tangmo said dimly, "I hurt a lot of people because I wanted to possess you, and that’s a stain I’ll never be able to erase in my life."
"Don’t think about the past, think about the future," Luo’er said, holding her soft hand.
"Thinking about when I’ll become a bride in the future?" Tangmo squinted at him and asked with a smile.
"Can you stop always thinking about that," Luo’er said with a wry smile, "Let’s think about what we want to do in the future, and not always dwell on romantic attachments."
"I indeed have many things I want to do, many goals I want to accomplish, but when it comes to you, all I can think of is marriage," Tangmo said. Suddenly, she changed tack, gazed intently at Luo’er, and asked, "Isn’t Princess Melia ambitious and capable? But in front of you, doesn’t she act just like a girl in love?"
Again, Luo’er coughed awkwardly, then said with feigned innocence, "I told you nothing happened with Melia, I’ve already clearly refused her."
"Really, clearly?" Tangmo pressed, staring at him.
"You don’t trust me?" Luo’er said, somewhat displeased, yet his gaze shifted away guiltily.
"Forget it, her mind is full of revenge anyway, you’re probably just second place in her heart. Stop thinking about getting through tough times with her, the mere prejudice of the world could ruin all her efforts," Tangmo said dismissively.
"That’s what I think, too," Luo’er nodded in agreement.
"I always feel like I’m hypnotizing myself." Seeing Luo’er’s demeanor, Tangmo shook his head helplessly.
Their conversation came to an abrupt halt, as both seemed to fall into silence involuntarily, not knowing what else to say. Hu Daoke and Cheng Ziang were whispering on the side, occasionally bursting into laughter. Meanwhile, Feng had already gone to bed early and you could even hear her steady breathing.
"Luo’er, come closer," Tangmo suddenly spoke again, surprising him with her request.
"What for, don’t mess around," Luo’er asked warily.
"Stop guarding against me like I’m a wolf; I have something serious to talk to you about," Tangmo said, frowning.
As she spoke, she wriggled in her sleeping bag, inching towards Luo’er like a worm until she was snug against him. Then she pulled out her hand from the sleeping bag and placed it in front of Luo’er.
"Interlock fingers!" Tangmo said with a look of anticipation.
"Don’t..." Luo’er said, feeling embarrassed.
"Oh come on, just do it. I’m not trying to take advantage of you," Tangmo frowned and insisted.
"You said it, don’t trick me," Luo’er responded as he struggled to pull his hand out of his sleeping bag and interlocked it with Tangmo’s small hand.
"Hehehe..." Feeling the warmth of Luo’er’s palm, Tangmo couldn’t help but let out a giggle like that of a lovesick girl.
Then she cleared her throat and put on a serious face. With her other hand, she pulled out a pair of shiny handcuffs from the sleeping bag and without a word, handcuffed her wrist to Luo’er’s.
"You..." Luo’er, witnessing her action, suddenly felt warmth in his heart. She must be worried about him sleepwalking at night, which is why she handcuffed themselves together.
"The key is here," Tangmo said, pulling out the Soul Summoning Bell from around her neck, with the key tied to it.
After that, she stuffed both the key and the Soul Summoning Bell into her chest and said contentedly, "It’s good to tuck it away like this. Now you definitely won’t have the chance to sneak away."
"Can it stay tucked?" Luo’er suddenly blurted out without thinking.
"What did you say?" Tangmo asked, frowning.
"Oh, I... Thank you for your help," Luo’er said sincerely.
"No need to thank me," Tangmo replied as she reached over with their handcuffed hand to pinch Luo’er’s cheek, grinning, "I know you’re a gentleman who wouldn’t take advantage of me even in your sleep, although it’s somewhat disappointing. But this way, you definitely won’t be able to wander off in a dream on your own."
"You seem quite disappointed, not just somewhat..." Luo’er said, feeling embarrassed as he looked at her.
"Luo’er, my hand is cold," Tangmo spoke, shaking her cuffed hand.
"You this guy..." Luo’er shook his head helplessly and then pulled her hand into his sleeping bag.
"Goodnight, Luo’er!" Tangmo closed her eyes contentedly.
"Goodnight!"
