Chapter 831: Chapter 824: Recruiting
"Jora, can you tell your sister the truth?" Eve grasped his shoulders and earnestly said.
Jora looked at Eve with a frightened expression, his quivering lips parted slightly. Suddenly, it seemed as though his emotions got the better of him. Large, sky-blue eyes brimming with tears, he sobbed, "Sister, I don’t want to go to the Snow Domain. I don’t want to leave you..."
"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry..." Eve began to sob as well when she saw Jora’s tears. "I don’t want to leave you either, but your sister is useless, always making you suffer alongside me."
"I don’t want to go to the Snow Domain. Even if I could only suffer with you, I’m willing. Sister, please don’t leave me behind, okay? I’ve already begged you so many times; may I beg you once more?" Jora cried out.
"I’ve always felt your brother actually didn’t want to go to the Snow Domain. It’s been you all along, arrogantly believing that he needs to go back. Have you truly considered how he will gain his mother’s acceptance once he’s in the Snow Domain, how he will live there? Snow Elves may not be as exclusionary as Wood Elves, but they’re not as accepting as Night Elves. You think you’re doing what’s best for your brother, but I can’t shake the feeling that you’re harming him," Luo’er interjected.
"Is that true?" Eve turned to Jora, her voice trembling, and asked.
"Mm-hm, I never wanted to go to the Snow Domain, never wanted to leave you. Please don’t cast me off to the Snow Domain, sister," Jora said weakly.
"I’m sorry, so sorry, sorry," Eve spoke in anguish. "It’s my fault for not recognizing your wishes, for being too presumptuous. I’m really sorry."
"Don’t think I’m trying to shirk responsibility, that I don’t want to take you to the Snow Domain. But it seems to me that you siblings have never been united, each harboring your own thoughts without coming together as one. If you’re still determined to go to the Snow Domain, then naturally we will accompany you to the very end. However, I really want to know if you understand what your brother desires. Just don’t have regrets later. Going back and forth like this wastes our time," Luo’er continued.
"Let me say this," Luo’er had barely finished speaking when Hu Daoke promptly chimed in, "If you want your brother to live a comfortable life, why not leave him in our care? This way, you won’t have to worry anymore about him being wronged."
"Eh..." Hearing Hu Daoke’s words, Luo’er was quite surprised and turned to look at him.
"Boss, I understand what you mean, but I also know that you can’t personally take care of such matters. No problem, I will handle it for you. After all, headquarters is short-staffed; one more of them won’t make a difference, right?" Hu Daoke said with a dismissive wave.
"Do you know something?" Luo’er eyed him, then asked.
"I’ve heard that the headquarters’ higher-ups are planning the Mingming Plan. This plan requires recruiting young individuals from the Otherworld, preferably mixed-race ones. So now we have the perfect opportunity – these Elf Race hybrids are a rare resource indeed," Hu Daoke explained with a wave of his hand.
"What are you planning to do?" Hearing their conversation, Eve cast a wary look and hugged Jora tightly as she asked nervously.
"Don’t worry," Luo’er reassured her, "we won’t harm you. I just think, since you want Jora to live comfortably, why not bring him to us? We won’t sell or enslave him, rather, we’ll provide him with food, shelter, and education."
"You would do that out of kindness?" Eve asked, frowning.
"Of course we’re not that kind-hearted, but we have no ill intent either," Luo’er explained. "We simply hope to turn mixed-race individuals like Jora into one of us through education, to serve us."
"You’re willing to take in Elf Race hybrids?" Eve still found it hard to believe Luo’er’s words.
"Certainly," Luo’er pointed at himself and said assertively, "don’t forget, I’m also an Elf Race hybrid. We come from Earth, not the people of the Otherworld. We don’t discriminate against Elf Race hybrids like the people of this world do. On the contrary, we welcome Elf Race hybrids."
Luo’er’s opinion did not just represent his own but that of the majority of Earthlings. Because on Earth, the Elf Race was very popular, and everyone favored this naturally graceful and long-lived species from the Otherworld.
Actually, Earthlings also found it hard to understand why Otherworlders would discriminate against the Elf Race and those of mixed-Elf blood.
Beauty is justice, a principle that fit perfectly on Earth. Within Haiya Academy, specifically designed to nurture hybrid beings, those of mixed-Elf blood were always the focus of the academy; not only because they were generally rare but also because those of mixed-Elf blood almost never had low attractiveness.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Luo’er’s words made Eve slightly relax her guard, but she still expressed her incomprehension.
"We hope to educate children like Jora to become one of our own and help us manage and operate the Otherworld," Luo replied.
"I don’t understand what you mean," Eve said, frowning.
"To put it simply, we want to win over you and your brother. We will provide a safe residence and essential food. You can even receive an education, and if you think your magic talents are high enough, you can even learn magic," Luo’er explained.
"Why would you be so kind?" Eve couldn’t help but ask.
"I’ve already said it, we’re not being kind; we’re just investing in you. Once you grow up, you’ll also need to serve our interests," Luo’er stated.
"Serve you, serve Otherworlders?" Eve asked.
"You could say that," Luo’er nodded. Eve was still referring to Earthlings as Otherworlders.
"You..." Eve’s brows furrowed tightly, it was apparent she had many more questions she wanted to ask, but struggled to find where to start.
"I know what you want to ask," Luo’er raised his hand and said, "but have you ever thought about this question: what do you and Jora plan to do to survive in the future? Are you really people from Odelanqi or the North Territory, and will the nations mentioned accept you?"
Watching Eve and Jora fall into contemplation, Luo’er continued to guide them gradually: "We, our organization, need people like you. We provide you with everything necessary for survival and educate you. Our only purpose is to turn you into one of us, to become a part of our organization’s force in the Otherworld."
"Why do you want to turn us into one of you?" Eve asked, puzzled.
"Good question," Luo’er nodded, continuing the explanation, "For well-known reasons, Earthlings or so-called Otherworlders by you, cannot live in this world long-term. Hence, they need to find individuals who can help them in this world, like children such as Jora. We educate him and eventually make him part of our force in this world. This way, even if we Earthlings do not need to enter this world, we can still ensure we have our own force here. Do you understand now?"
Although this summarization of the Mingming Plan was not detailed, it had broadly exposed the framework of the plan.
The Mingming Plan’s goal was to cultivate its own power in the Otherworld headquarters. These individuals from the Otherworld would receive education from Earth from a young age, subtly and gradually leading them to recognize themselves as part of Earth in this world and, in turn, help headquarters control this world.
With the opening of the Otherworld Gate, frequent close contact between the two worlds was inevitable. Unless the Otherworld Gate was completely destroyed, severing the connection between Earth and the Otherworld, Earth’s influence would continue to interfere with the Magic World.
Economic foundation determines the superstructure. Earthlings, possessing more advanced technology, industry, and even culture, continually exerted their influence on the Otherworld, integrating it into Earth to make it a part of Earth. This was what headquarters had been doing and what all Earthlings wanted to achieve.
