Chapter 830 - 823

Chapter 830: 823

"Ah," Hu Daoke slammed his thigh with frustration after understanding Luo’er’s words, "I knew Azita was no good, if only I had taken care of him right from the start, we wouldn’t be dealing with all this trouble now."

"Humph, Monday morning quarterback!" Fulajie’er said with disdain.

"Eh..." Hearing Fulajie’er’s words, Hu Daoke was suddenly at a loss for words.

What struck him as odd was that Fulajie’er had not spoken in her Southern Tasta accent but had instead used somewhat awkward Chinese.

"What’s with the ’Eh’?" Fulajie’er asked.

"No, I just feel like you’ve been a bit off lately," Hu Daoke pondered for a moment before speaking up.

"What’s off?" Fulajie’er was clearly taken aback by Hu Daoke’s question.

"How do I feel like you’re acting like Sister Moumou lately?" Hu Daoke scrutinized Luo’er, speaking up and down. Since Fulajie’er was not visible, he assumed she was still around Luo’er.

"What do you mean acting like Moumou?" Luo’er felt a tinge of unease under his gaze and couldn’t help but respond.

"Hmm, like a female owner!" Hu Daoke thought for a while, then said with certainty.

Whether it was because he hit the nail on the head or not, Luo’er immediately coughed uncontrollably upon hearing those words, and Fulajie’er kept quiet throughout.

"Why don’t you let Xiao Fula speak again to see?" Hu Daoke suggested.

"No way!" Fulajie’er rejected the idea without hesitation.

"See, there’s that feeling, right?" Hu Daoke pointed at Luo’er and said.

"Yada yada yada yada, what nonsense are you spouting!" Fulajie’er yelled in panic, then instantly fell silent.

"Boss..." Hu Daoke looked at Luo’er with a questioning gaze.

"Don’t think too much, I haven’t done anything to wrong Moumou and Yue’er," Luo’er quickly denied.

"Sigh, forget it, I’m used to it anyway. You do whatever you want, boss. Just don’t wrong my two sisters and Yue’er," Hu Daoke said with a wave of his hand and a touch of emotion.

"I’m really not what you think..." Luo’er defended himself with a wry smile.

In his helplessness, he turned his head and looked at Feng beside him. She was hugging her sword, watching the interaction between everyone with wide eyes, appearing very serene.

Seeing Feng’s demeanor, Luo’er couldn’t help but let out a long sigh. If only everyone could be like Feng, she was like a porcelain doll, well-behaved and serene, embodying all the qualities a Yamato Nadeshiko should possess.

All of a sudden, it was as if he thought of something else, and he turned his head back, looking at the siblings Eve and Jora sitting opposite. Eve was contemplatively looking down, while her brother Jora was hiding by her side, watching Luo’er’s every move with terror.

It was obvious that the invisible ghost, Fulajie’er, had frightened him. In the feudal Otherworld, the impact of a ghost was undeniably tremendous.

Thinking back to how Commander Reimer of Ronisca once commanded an airborne fleet and still got terribly frightened by Fulajie’er. Only someone like Luo’er, who had undergone Materialism education on Earth, could calmly accept the existence of Fulajie’er. Yet, even so, when Hu Daoke first met her, he had been scared out of his wits.

"Eve, are you still thinking about what happened a few days ago?" Luo’er asked, looking at Eve.

"No, not really." Eve did not look up as she shook her head insincerely.

"If there’s anything on your mind, just say it. There’s no need to keep it bottled up. I promise to follow through with what I’ve assured you, so don’t worry about me going back on my word," Luo’er said.

"Why don’t we just travel across the ice and bypass the Northern Domain Mountain Range to enter the Snow Domain?" Eve suddenly became agitated upon hearing Luo’er’s reassurance.

"You really are still dwelling on that matter," Luo’er said, shaking his head in reflection.

"I just think that if we had continued north back then, we would have already gone around the Northern Domain Mountain Range by now," Eve said, frowning seriously.

"Getting past the Northern Domain Mountain Range is only one-fifth of the journey completed. How do you plan to travel the remaining four-fifths? The Snow Domain is currently snowbound, and the ice and snow won’t thaw until next summer at the earliest. What will we eat in the Snow Domain during these months?" Luo’er asked seriously. "Since you’ve been to the Snow Domain with Fu’en, you should know what it is like. You two being half Snow Elves can withstand the cold, but we are different. We can’t endure it, and even if we did, we might still starve to death before we reach our destination."

"If we search diligently, we can still find some food in the Snow Domain. Some herbivores dig through the snow to find grass on the ground. If we can find these traces, we’ll be able to find them," Eve replied.

"Isn’t your statement somewhat presumptuous? You always seem to think that when we’re at our wits’ end, a pie will just fall from the sky. What if we are unlucky and can’t find any game for days or even weeks? Then wouldn’t we all starve to death? You are half Snow Elves, not half Hunger-Resistant Elves. Regardless of your resistance to the cold, without food, you will still starve to death," Luo’er said, shrugging his shoulders.

He used so many Earth-derived words all at once that it took a moment for Eve to fully digest his words, sending her into silence; but his meaning reached her nevertheless.

Seeing Eve fall silent, Luo’er took it as a sign she had no rebuttal and let out a deep sigh. He glanced over at Jora and continued, "Moreover, to circle back to the point, you’re so eager to send Jora back to the Snow Domain, but have you ever asked for his opinion, or do you actually just want to be rid of the burden?"

"No, that’s not it," Eve suddenly became agitated again, raising her voice, "I don’t think of Jora as a burden. I just don’t want him to suffer with me. You shouldn’t say such things; Jora is very sensitive."

"Sister..." Jora, scared by Eve’s sudden outburst, timidly tugged at the hem of her clothes.

"There’s no need to get so worked up," said Luo’er, furrowing his brow as he glanced at her before shaking his head and saying, "Since you admit you care about Jora and that his heart is sensitive, why then have you never been willing to consider his feelings, acting solely based on your own thoughts?"

"I..." Eve began to defend herself, but quickly fell silent, finding herself at a loss for words when faced with Luo’er’s statement. After a moment, she stubbornly muttered quietly, "I do listen to him. I just want him to be happier."

"Nonsense, when you get down to it, you are just selfish. In the end, you just want to get rid of this burden as soon as possible," Luo’er stated coldly.

"I said no, I really didn’t!" Eve’s voice grew louder this time, almost a roar that frightened Jora into curling into a ball and nearly brought him to tears.

"I don’t want your answer, I want Jora to tell me personally whether he wants to go to the Snow Domain or not, whether he actually wishes to find his mother," Luo’er said unflinchingly.

"Jora..." Realizing her own outburst, Eve took a deep breath, then turned to Jora in a panic, seeing him trembling in fear and she reassured him softly, "I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Jora. It’s all my fault, I was too loud."

"From the beginning, I’ve found it curious why Jora seems so invisible when he’s with you, why you’re the one making all the decisions, why you’ve never asked him what he truly wants, why you’ve never seriously taken his opinions into account. Next to you, Jora is like a doll, and the only thing that sets you apart from those slave owners is that you haven’t hurt Jora, that’s all," Luo’er said icily from the side.

"Jora, is it true?" Eve, having a sudden revelation, turned to Jora and asked incredulously.

"No, it’s not, no..." Jora widened his eyes and hesitated before shaking his head.

"Jora, if you have anything you want to say to your sister, say it now. This is a rare opportunity. If you miss it, don’t blame me for not helping you," Luo’er stated indifferently.
