Chapter 820: Chapter 813: Hardliners

"Why would Captain Luo’er say such a thing..." As soon as he heard Luo’er’s words, Azita immediately lowered his head guiltily, asking in a somewhat unsteady voice.

"Don’t try those tricks with me; I can see right through them. They have no effect on me. What I can give to you, I can also take back," Luo’er said and then made a gesture with his hand behind his back.

Noticing Luo’er’s action, Feng, who had been standing behind him all the while, shook the long blade she had been gripping tightly; a few snapping sounds followed as deep cuts suddenly appeared on the wooden stocks of the AK rifles held by Azita’s men following him, without any warning.

Of course, Feng’s movements were casual, and to the surprise of Azita and his men, they didn’t even notice Feng’s subtle action just now.

Luo’er did not intend to put Feng in the spotlight but rather keep her as a hidden deterrent because he was worried that once Azita was aware that the cuts were Feng’s doing, he might target her specifically.

Although Feng was invincible in close combat, she could not contend with long-range strikes. Just like the sniper Luo’er and Hu Daoke had encountered before, in an open terrain, that sniper could suppress her to the point where she couldn’t even raise her head.

To make Feng unafraid of long-distance attacks, the best method was to pair her up with Fulajie’er, which was also the primary reliance of the Advance Team at the moment.

Azita was shocked by the scene that had just occurred, as it was so sudden that he didn’t even know what had just happened.

He felt sure it wasn’t Magic because he hadn’t felt any magical disturbances in the air, but if it wasn’t Magic, could it be a miracle? He racked his brain but couldn’t understand it.

As previously mentioned, the fluctuations produced by the release of magic into the air are much lower than those produced by the absorption of magic.

Feng’s Magic Formula, which she had just invoked, could only be sensed by a Magic genius with a keen sense of Magic like Tangmo. Not to mention Azita, even Luo’er couldn’t sense it.

Of course, Luo’er is now more or less a Magic cripple himself.

"Mr. Azta, I am courteous to you because I hope you will treat me with the same courtesy. I am helping you because I want you to help us, not for you to feel superior. Do you understand?" Luo’er said, looking at a sweating Azta and threatening him lightly.

"Understood, I will immediately go and make arrangements..." Azita forcefully feigned composure, wiping the sweat from his brow, and then he finally gave in.

"I appreciate your efforts, Mr. Azta," Luo’er said respectfully.

"No, no, no, this is what we should do," Azita said, waving his hands and forcing a grin.

Hu Daoke, carrying a light machine gun, stood behind Luo’er, watching his silhouette with a calm demeanor. For Hu Daoke, Luo’er’s performance was nothing out of the ordinary.

Luo’er was indeed polite and conducted himself properly; he was not weak or easily spoken over. Many people who meet him for the first time are deceived by his modest demeanor, assuming he is a very agreeable and even weak person.

But in fact, once you get to know Luo’er, you would understand that his politeness is merely a result of good upbringing. Luo’er is the most stubborn person in the Advance Team, bar none. He would go through anything to see the matters he is committed to through to the end.

So, persuading him or taking advantage of him is not an easy task. Despite the Advance Team’s harmonious appearance, and the seeming ease of pushing Luo’er around, when it comes to matters of principle, Luo’er’s stance is firmer than anyone else’s, and he is particularly fond of having the final say.

Just like now, Azita clearly did not understand Luo’er’s temperament, mistaking him for a weak person, which is why he had started to get greedy. But this time, he definitely hit a snag because Luo’er was not that easy to talk to.

After sending Azita off, Luo’er couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, then he started to check the items he was carrying. This time, they didn’t bring large bags of luggage, only weapons and some needed ammunition.

However, he didn’t need to worry too much, for with Fulajie’er and Feng, two great generals by his side, the need for weapons and ammunition was not as critical.

Of course, Luo’er felt that he still had to be a bit wary of Azita. Previously when they were pursuing Fu’en, it was this man who had betrayed them suddenly, leading to the mission’s failure and the Advance Team’s casualties.

Thinking of Azita’s past actions, Luo’er couldn’t help but be wary of him. If Azita thought he was being abandoned and then decided to switch sides and sell them out to the intelligence agency as a means of proving his loyalty, that would be troublesome.

So, while Luo’er needed to rely on the Hunters Guild, he also had to be cautious of them. These people were different from the allies at the headquarters; they were opportunists and could not be fully trusted.

By around midnight, the Hunters Guild members finally came back to report. They had arranged a smuggler’s ship to dock at the harbor. This ship was set to smuggle goods to the Ancient States, leaving in the second half of the night when they could then sneak out of the city.

Thus, a group of people followed the members of the Hound Gang to the dock they had prepared, where a wooden sailboat was moored, and Azita was talking to the captain on the dock.

"Captain Luo’er, we are ready, you should board the ship quickly," Azita said as he approached them upon their arrival.

Luo’er glanced at him, then at the merchant ship bathed in the night, and nodded, saying, "We appreciate your help, Mr. Azta."

"Oh no, it’s our duty," Azita said, waving his hands repeatedly.

"Then we will board now," Luo’er said, signaling Eve and the others to get on the ship.

"I have made arrangements for you; this ship will take you out of the city safely," Atezi said from behind him.

"Fulajie’er, keep an eye on him to see if he’s up to any tricks," Luo’er said in a low voice to Fulajie’er upon hearing Azita’s words, paying no heed to him.

"Got it!" came Fulajie’er’s voice in his mind.

Once everyone was aboard, a sailor holding a lamp guided them down into the ship’s hold. They passed through the living quarters, then the storeroom, and finally reached the lowest level.

"What, you’re letting us hide in here?" Hu Daoke said, pointing at the pitch-black pit at the bottom level, his eyes wide in disbelief.

"It’s not easy to get spotted hiding here, hurry down if you want to leave the city," the sailor said with some impatience.

"At least give us a lamp, right?" Luo’er asked calmly.

"Here!" The sailor handed his lantern over to Luo’er.

"Thanks," Luo’er said, taking the lantern and nodding politely.

"Hold on!" Just as they were about to go below deck, the sailor suddenly reached out to stop them.

"What’s wrong?" Luo’er turned and asked.

"The weapons, hand them over to us first," the sailor said, pointing at the weapons they were carrying on their backs.

"You’re looking to die, aren’t you?" Hu Daoke said, taking the light machine gun off his shoulder, threateningly.

"Can you tell me the reason?" Luo’er raised his hand to stop him, then looked politely at the sailor and asked.

"It’s not safe for you to have weapons," the sailor muttered after a moment, seemingly lacking confidence.

"What kind of logic is that, why would we have weapons if they’re not safe?" Luo’er retorted.

"Anyway, you either hand over the weapons to us or get off the ship," the sailor became increasingly impatient.

"Fine, as long as we can get out of town," Luo’er shrugged, then took the stock-less rifle off his shoulder, pulled the magazine out, made sure the safety was on, and then handed it to the sailor.

Facing Luo’er’s proficient handling of the weapons, the sailor didn’t know how to stop him for a moment and could only watch helplessly as Luo’er removed the bullets and magazines from each weapon before handing them over.

Luo’er was no fool; firearms were notoriously easy to operate. Even a monkey could handle them with ease and accuracy.

So how could he possibly hand over a loaded weapon that was already chambered to a stranger?
