Chapter 789: Chapter 782: Change of Location
"Don’t try to butter me up at a time like this," Luoer laughed and shook his head helplessly.
Hu Daoke dragged a guy with a red nose over to a crate, warned him a few times, and then started undoing his restraints.
He wasn’t concerned about the red nose guy playing any tricks, because Feng was standing not far away. If Red Nose attempted anything, Feng would deal with him right away without any need for Hu Daoke’s intervention.
Everyone knew that Feng neither held back nor showed mercy when dealing with people. One strike from him and Red Nose’s life would be over.
After releasing the restraints, Red Nose, under Hu Daoke’s instructions, walked a few steps forward and removed the cloth blindfold from his eyes. After slightly adjusting to the light, he took off running, not daring to look back.
"Damn, he runs faster than a rabbit," Hu Daoke shrugged and exchanged looks with Feng.
He returned to the front of the shack. By this time, Eve and her younger brother Jora had emerged from it. He approached Luoer and couldn’t help but ask, "Boss, if we let that guy go, what do we do if the Booze Ghost Gang comes knocking?"
"You’re talking as if the Booze Ghost Gang wouldn’t come looking for trouble if we didn’t release him," Luoer glanced at him, explaining patiently, "Don’t forget that we’re dealing with over a dozen real humans, they can’t just disappear without a trace. Even if the Booze Ghost Gang stands tall, they’ll certainly send someone to investigate. So, whether we let him go or not isn’t a big issue since this shack is non-livable now, after the fight."
"Ah, right!" Hu Daoke nodded in sudden realization.
"Find something to pack up these weapons, we’re relocating!" Luoer instructed.
"Leave it to me!" Hu Daoke nodded.
"You two pack up a bit, then come with me," Luoer glanced at the siblings, and then spoke.
"Where are we going?" Eve asked nervously.
"Wherever we go, it’s going to be better than staying here, isn’t it? The Booze Ghost Gang will be back soon, and staying here would be a dead end," Luoer answered impassively.
"I’m asking you, what happened to Fuen? Why do you know him?" Eve stepped forward and asked carefully.
"It’s a long story, in short, let’s find a better place to talk," Luoer shrugged and replied.
After some preparations, Hu Daoke, carrying a sack of weapons, left the place with Luoer. The total weight of the guns and ammunition was nearly a hundred kilograms, but for Hu Daoke, it was a piece of cake, he always had been stronger than most people.
With the team members and the siblings, Luoer left the slums and arrived at the bustling commercial streets. Here, they were temporarily safe, as even the terrifying Booze Ghost Gang wouldn’t dare to make a move in a crowded business district. Otherwise, before the Hound Gang could take action, the city defense forces of Holy Heart City would wipe them out first.
This was, in fact, Luoer’s intention; the bustling area, though it made them an easy target, held the advantage of more people, at least the Booze Ghost Gang would hesitate before making a move.
On the way, Luoer used his anti-surveillance skills, avoiding possible informants, while instructing Fulajie’er to patrol around.
On a side note, ever since Luoer asked Feng to look out specifically, she had learned to search by sensing other people’s gaze. Anytime someone looked at her, she was instantly alerted, seeking out the origin of the gaze. If she was stared at for more than three seconds, she would immediately detect the source, preparing for battle as she alerted Luoer.
Thanks to Feng’s human radar-like detection, the group managed to reach a commercial hotel without any incidents. They rented a triple room for Eve and her brother as a temporary shelter.
"Wow, the beds in this high-end hotel are really soft!" Hu Daoke sat on the bed, dumping the sack of guns casually on the wooden floor.
"I was planning to use this money to get us a boat to Snow Domain." Eve looked at the money pouch in her hand, which originally belonged to Luoer, and spoke resentfully.
"Get it straight, it’s my money, don’t act as if you’re at a loss," Luoer just shrugged.
"I..." She turned to look at the sack of weapons, swallowed, then asked Luoer, "Can I sell those weapons? I think it should cover the fare."
"If you aren’t afraid of the Booze Ghost Gang and those organizations wanting to kill you and your brother coming after you, then go ahead and sell them." Luoer said indifferently.
Apparently, Eve had no idea what would happen if she sold those submachine guns. Not to mention whether they could be sold, firstly they would definitely be noticed by the arms dealers of the Otherworld. Among these arms dealers, there might be CIA agents. In this way, Eve would be like a lamb walking into a tiger’s mouth.
In the Otherworld where bolt-action rifles were popular, submachine guns were relatively scarce. Once sold, they would certainly attract the attention of other forces. So, Luoer had no intention of selling these submachine guns from the beginning.
Hearing Luoer’s words, Eve glanced at him. Although she knew he made sense, she felt somewhat unconvinced. After rolling her eyes, she ignored him.
"So, what’s your relationship with Fu’en? Why would the CIA spare no effort to eradicate you?" Luoer asked, looking at her.
"How would I know!" Eve said irritably.
"Listen carefully. The matter is related to the life and death of you and your brother. If you continue to be stubborn, they will come after you again. Just wait for them." Luoer said coldly.
"As long as I can get on the ship to Snow Domain, I don’t care if they come after me or not." Eve retorted stubbornly.
"How do you know there are no insiders on the ship? Don’t forget how these gangs rose to power." Luoer laughed and said.
Luoer’s words made Eve fall silent once more. She pursed her lips and lifted her head to ask Luoer, "Why do all of you know Fu’en? What exactly has he done to you?"
"Do you know Fu’en?" Luoer turned the question back at her.
"A little." Eve sighed after a pause, then said slowly, "He is a mage, a cunning one at that."
"You... don’t know anything, do you?" Luoer asked hesitantly.
"Know what?" Eve asked, startled.
"For instance, he can use summoning magic," Luoer looked at her reaction, then said cautiously, "He is not simply a mage, but a summoner wanted by the Church Court."
"I have never seen him use such magic..." Eve began, then her brows furrowed involuntarily.
"Fu’en opened one of the Otherworld Gates in Lipei, established a connection to the Otherworld, got wanted by the Otherworld, captured, and then killed." Luoer briefly narrated the actions of Fu’en.
"Opened... Otherworld Gate..." Eve’s brows furrowed tighter. Suddenly, she had an epiphany, and she blurts out, "Yes, he wanted to open an Otherworld Gate, that’s why..."
"He did... what?" Luoer anxiously interrogated.
"That book, the Holy Book!" Eve seemed not to have heard Luoer’s question, but continued talking to herself.
"Hey, share what’s on your mind. Don’t mutter to yourself." Luoer waved his hand in front of her face.
"Have you all come for that Holy Book?" Eve looked at Luoer and asked coldly.
"Not very clear about what you mean." Luoer shrugged his shoulders. Eve’s attitude change was so swift that he found it hard to adjust to it.
"It was probably five years ago," Eve was silent for a moment then said softly, "Fu’en hired me as a guide to explore a tomb at the foot of the Winter Mountains in the Snow Domain. He took an important item from the tomb, an unparalleled Holy Book."
"An unparalleled Holy Book..." Luoer looked at her and asked hesitantly.
"This book was listed as a banned book by the Church in the Northern, for its existence shook the foundation of the divine rights of the Church of Light. It also has a well-known name, the Ancient Scripture!" Eve replied indifferently.
