As such thoughts crossed his mind, Luoer made several gestures towards Hu Daoke, who understood and nodded, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a Flash Bang grenade.

He then pulled out the pin and waited for Luoer’s command. As the approaching group neared their hiding place, Luoer abruptly gestured for Hu Daoke to throw the flashbang.

Upon Luoer’s command, Hu Daoke leaned out from cover and threw the flashbang directly at the feet of the approaching group. Having never received formal modern military training, they were caught unaware and confused as the flashbang landed at their feet, oblivious to the events that were about to unfold.

"Bang!!"

The Flash Bang exploded in front of them, emitting a blindingly bright light. The noise shattered most of their eardrums, and even Luoer and Hu Daoke, who had their ears covered and hidden behind a wall, couldn’t help but feel the shockwave.

After the flashbang’s explosion, Luoer and Hu Daoke immediately raised their pistols, stepped out of their hiding spot, and began shooting at the disoriented individuals covering their ears.

Thanks to the Magic Silencer, they didn’t hear any gunfire, just the sound of empty shell casings hitting the ground. The unpleasant sensation of the recoil and the sight of blood blossoming from the heads of their enemies confirmed their shots were landing.

With precise fire from the two men, one enemy after another fell. Some took a bullet in the head, others took two in the chest. Every shot Luoer and Hu targeted vital areas, ensuring the recipient would be sent straight to death.

The pistols they were equipped with were modeled after the Glock, and although they used 9mm rounds, they contained an impressive twenty-round capacity.

Soon, the majority of the attackers had been gunned down, leaving only the red-nosed man. Luoer moved his gun’s aim and shot him in the thigh. The man went into a fit and collapsed on the ground.

Quickly, Luoer stepped forward, kicked the submachine gun out of his hand, and then delivered a kick to his face."

"Tie him up!" Luoer ordered Hu Daoke after discharging his magazine as he watched the red-nosed man rolling in pain on the ground.

"Yes, sir!" Hu Daoke nodded, safety on his gun, and tucked it into his waist. He then took out a zip tie and went over to the red-nosed man.

Luoer thought Feng would need to cover their retreat, but the attack went surprisingly smoothly. Through their flawless coordination, they swiftly neutralized all their enemies without them returning a single shot and managed to capture one alive.

Luoer picked up a fallen M3 submachine gun from the ground and frowned at its low-quality craftsmanship, understanding why the American troops had such a distaste for it.

However, upon further examination, Luoer was pleasantly surprised. Despite the crude appearance of these M3 submachine guns, they were made using modern industrial processes. In other words, they were the result of arms dealers repackaging old weapons as new.

Dropping the submachine gun, Luoer continued his investigation of the bodies. He pulled open the front of a corpse’s clothing and discovered a complex tattoo on the chest. Intrigued, he disregarded the strong odor of the corpses and continued to check the other bodies.

After his inspection, he found that most of these corpses bore tattoos in various locations. Most were on their arms or chest, fewer on their back. One even had a tattoo on his buttock, the motivation behind which Luoer couldn’t fathom.

While the tattoos appeared complex, they were fairly uniform in style. Therefore, these tattoos were likely some sort of identification marker.

As for killing these people, Luoer had no qualms. He never questioned whether what he did was right or whether his enemies deserved to die. All he knew was what needed to be done for the mission, and who needed to be killed.

Hu Daoke efficiently tied up the man. He ripped off several strips of cloth from his clothes and blindfolded him, as well as covering his mouth with a makeshift gag.

Seeing the wound on his thigh continually bleeding, Hu Daoke roughly bandaged it. Not out of compassion but to prevent the prisoner from dying before being interrogated, which would defeat the purpose of capturing him alive.

"Fula, protect the exit with Feng and do not allow anyone to enter," ordered Luoer.

"Received!" Fulajie’er responded, then promptly flew away from Luoer.

"Little Ke, clean up the scene, throw the bodies in the corner," Luoer continued to instruct.

"Yes, sir!" Hu Daoke nodded, then bent down to carry the corpses and throw them into the corner filled with garbage and overgrown weeds.

Luoer grabbed the back of Wine Nose’s shirt collar and dragged his crouched frame from the ground to the corner of a wall. He fetched his magic wand from his waist, pointed it at Wine Nose and started reciting a revival spell to heal the wounds on his ear and thigh.

There was no point in interrogating him yet, because Wine Nose was in a disabled state of blindness and deafness due to the recent flashbang. He couldn’t answer a single thing.

After a lot of laborious effort, Hu Daoke piled all the bodies in the corner and covered them with some random items. He also cleared the weapons and ammunition, placing them aside.

Upon the completion of these tasks, Luoer asked Hu to keep an eye on Wine Nose while he went inside the tent to call out the siblings, Eve and Jora.

As soon as Jora stepped out of the tent, he saw blood stains not too far away, which scared him to the extent that he took refuge in his sister’s embrace.

"Do you recognize him as a member of the Booze Ghost Gang?" Luoer asked, pointing to Wine Nose who was huddled in a corner.

At Luoer’s words, Eve moved forward trembling slightly and examined the person in question, then she nodded firmly.

"Do you really have no clue why you’re being hunted?" Luoer queried further.

"We have no idea!" Eve shook her head in denial.

Listening to her, Luoer fell deep into thought. He sized up Eve, and he had to admit that she was relatively attractive with a graceful figure and refined features. However, such characteristics didn’t provide any rationale for these people to target her.

It’s commonly said that anyone picked randomly from the mixed blood elf group wouldn’t lack in attractive features. Moreover, another prominent trait of mixed-blood elves is their slim figures; it’s almost impossible to find an overweight one in the group.

As a half-elf himself, Luoer can affirm this claim. He belongs to the category of people who never gain weight irrespective of their diet. His body consumes only a certain amount of nutrients based on necessity, and excessive intake beyond a threshold gets discarded. This results in him staying slim no matter how much he eats.

On Earth, this is actually a very interesting and valuable research topic. Humans keep absorbing and storing nutrients for their survival. This result of millions of years of evolution culminates in severe obesity in the age of industrial abundance.

Mixed-blood elves, on the other hand, appear to have anticipated the era of surplus and have sustained a relatively slim and healthy weight. Their bodies adjust the nutrient threshold based on developmental needs. Once the nutrient intake surpasses this threshold, the body disposes of the excessive nutrients, maintaining a relatively healthy weight level.

Of course, if these Booze Ghost Gang members were merely lusting after Eve’s body, they wouldn’t have utilized such a competent force to search for her. In Holy Heart City, there are countless mixed-blood elves like her; it’s entirely unnecessary to specifically target her.

The situation probably coincides with Luoer’s speculation that the siblings, Eve and Jora, must possess some unknown secrets of the Booze Ghost Gang, which is why they have been targeted. Otherwise, he couldn’t explain why these people would come after two beggars specifically.

It seems like Eve probably doesn’t know anything, so if he expects to gather precise information, he can only rely on Wine Nose.
