Chapter 783: Chapter 776: Stitches for the Wound
"Start with a skin test, take this, needle pointing upwards, don’t touch the needle. And, hold the kerosene lamp steady, don’t sway it around!" Luoer busied himself, handing the injector to his younger brother.
He pulled out a disinfectant, ready to do wound cleaning. Thanks to Earth’s medical advancement, the sting of the disinfectant on the wound has been minimized as much as possible. However, it was still painful for the girl, who couldn’t help squirming. Luoer firmly held her calf still.
Because it is an emergency medical kit, it can’t possibly be as thorough as in a hospital - it can only ensure the essential procedures.
He then took out something similar to a clamp from the medical kit, and after testing it a few times, he turned to the girl and said, "Next, I’m going to start stitching your wound. If you feel pain, just cry out, just don’t move."
Afterwards, Luoer placed the clamp onto the girl’s wound. One hand brought the torn wound on her calf together. Worried that she might squirm in pain, he used his foot to press down on her instep, preventing her from moving.
After aligning the wound, Luoer began stapling it. With a few click sounds, the vicious wound on the girl was tightly secured by several staples.
During this process, the girl clenched her teeth, not uttering a sound. Each time he stapled, her body would spasm. Luoer could feel her primal scream of pain, suppressed but not released.
After completing all these, Luoer did a simple disinfection and cleaning, then bandaged her wound with gauze.
Next, he grabbed the girl’s wrist, looking for any allergic reaction on her arm. When proven negative, he took the injector from his younger brother and turned the girl over, pulling down her pants.
"What are you trying to do?" noticing Luoer’s actions, the girl could not hold back and questioned him in fear.
"Shut up and stay still if you want to live!" Luoer said, not giving her time to react, he jabbed the needle into her buttock, injecting the medicine into the muscle.
"Ahhh!!!" The girl, enduring pain for so long, finally could not bear it, letting out a throaty scream.
Seeing his sister being violated, the younger brother naturally wouldn’t back down, he lunged at Luoer. However, before he could do anything, he noticed something zooming past his face. Following that, a few strands of light-colored hair gently fell in front of him.
Then, he noticed Feng, who had been standing at the door. This girl, with a blank face, was radiating a strong aura of intent to kill. Just merely sensing her presence, the younger brother couldn’t help but to be alarmed, petrified on the spot.
"It’s fine, it’ll be over soon." Luoer, ignoring her throaty screams, pulled out the needle and discarded the used injector. With that, his work was done and he began packing his medical kit.
"Are you a doctor?" asked the girl, her face full of sweat, her eyes full of tears soaking in the candlelight.
"Sort of," Luoer nodded, adding somewhat whimsically at the end, "a well-trained doctor!".
"Why did you save me?" Luoer thought her face looked a bit better, whether it was because of the treatment or the candlelight. Even her lips were becoming more rosy.
"Didn’t I already say why?" Luoer shrugged his shoulders, tidying up and saying.
"But..." The girl paused, watching Luoer tidying up, and looked as if she wanted to say something, but hesitant.
"Don’t feel so guilty, I’m just trying to prevent my men from killing unnecessarily." Luoer replied, packing up the medical kit and putting it in his pocket, then turned back to the girl.
"Can, can you help me?" The girl, seemingly feeling Luoer’s kindness, asked after a long hesitation.
"Help with what?" Luoer asked.
"I hope you can ensure our safety." The girl said earnestly.
"Ensure your safety?" Luoer’s face betrayed no expression.
"Yes, yes. If you think this request is excessive, I can offer payment." The girl reached into her pocket and took out a bag of coins that originally belonged to Luoer.
Seeing the gold coins, Luoer immediately cheered up, sneering, "So, you want to use the gold you stole from me to hire me to ensure your safety?"
Observing the girl’s silence, Luoer continued, "The world isn’t so bad, but it’s not so good either. You stole my money, and I, out of kindness, have not retaliated. That’s already merciful."
"Then, here is your gold..." Nibbling her lip, the girl reluctantly handed over the money bag without making eye contact.
"And where do you plan to steal next?" Luoer asked.
"I appreciate your mercy, but I don’t see why you have the right to interfere with my life." The girl was tough, not feeling inferior for owing Luoer.
"Tell me why I should protect you." Luoer didn’t take the gold, just kept looking at her.
"Someone’s after us." The girl responded.
"Who? And why?" Luoer asked.
Instead of answering straight away, the girl looked suspiciously at Luoer.
"Don’t misunderstand, I just can’t figure out why anyone would be interested in you." Luoer said, shaking his hand.
Upon hearing his words, the girl sighed deeply and confessed, "The Booze Ghost Gang, they’ve been looking for me and my brother. I’m afraid they’ll catch us."
"Why would they want to capture you?" Luoer asked.
"How should I know?" The girl frowned.
"Probably human traffickers." Luoer suggested.
He thought so because, though Elf hybrids face heavy discrimination, they are more valuable than regular slaves, primarily due to their appearance.
"Not traffickers," the girl shook her head determinedly, "They want to kill us, not sell us as slaves."
"Kill you? Why?" On hearing her words, Luoer hesitated, his mind filled with conjectures.
"I told you I don’t know!" The girl snapped irritably.
"Calm down. I am here to help, not to listen to your complaints." Luoer said soothingly.
"Sorry..." Realising her slip of the tongue, the girl earnestly apologized to Luoer.
"Do you know something extraordinary about the Booze Ghost Gang?" Luoer asked.
Since the Gang wanted their lives, the brother and sister must know something secret about the gang or have something of value.
At present, the Booze Ghost Gang and the Hound Gang were in tension, having had a major fight a few days ago. Why on earth would they aim at two beggars without reason?
"Something extraordinary..." The girl muttered and lowered her head. After thinking for a while, she grimaced and began to moan due to her injured leg.
Seeing this, Luoer pulled his wand from his waist, placed it on her wound, and began to silently recite a revival spell. His magic power had greatly weakened, but he could still use these basic spells. After all, as a half-elf hybrid, his magical abilities were naturally superior to ordinary people’s.
Under the stimulate of Luoer’s magic, the girl’s wound began to heal gradually, and the growth of her new flesh made her wound itchy; so, she couldn’t help scratching it through the gauze.
"Don’t scratch, you might cause inflammation!" Seeing her actions, Luoer grabbed her wrist quickly and warned.
As he was about to continue his healing spell for the girl, he heard an urgent voice in his mind from Fulajie’er, "Luoer, something is up!"
