Chapter 766 - 759: Cheng Ziang’s Question

Chapter 766: Chapter 759: Cheng Ziang’s Question

However, considering Azita’s check on the CIA, the headquarters will more or less help him out, at the very least not letting him fall towards the side of the CIA again.

At present, the only foothold of the headquarters in Odelanqi is the district of the Church Court. Despite having been busy for so long, they still have no chance to engage with the real power holders in Odelanqi.

While the Church Court is equally strong in Odelanqi, as a large religious organization in the North, it has many things to manage and can’t be confined to just Odelanqi. If they want to completely control the North, it’s necessary to establish a relationship with the secular powers of Odelanqi.

Although the higher-ups at headquarters have already planned for this, looking at the current situation, this plan can only serve as an alternative for now. The focus of the headquarters right now is on the East and Lipei. They even need to divert some resources to deal with the affairs in Southern Ilanadale, they can’t spare the time for Odelanqi.

It’s a common saying that you should eat a meal one bite at a time, prioritize matters in the correct order, and reap twice the result with half the effort. As long as the headquarters can open the Otherworld Gate located in Lipei, and successfully connect it with Shenghua Academy within, all of their current problems will be solved effortlessly.

After leaving the office, the group bumped into Yalunte who was strolling in the corridor. Seeing everyone coming out of the office, Yalunte greeted them with a smile, "Are you guys heading out on a mission again?"

"Yeah, we’re preparing for a trip to Holy Heart City!" Luoer nodded, answering honestly.

He knew of Yalunte’s tenure at headquarters. Although he was from the Otherworld, he was not an outsider. So, regarding the matter of the mission, he didn’t hold any reservations against Yalunte.

"Off to Holy Heart City again, huh." Hearing Luoer’s words, the smile on Yalunte’s face once again froze, and he immediately turn his gaze to Cheng Ziang.

"What’s wrong, did something happen in Holy Heart City?" Luoer asked curiously, looking at him.

"Oh, no," Yalunte waved his hand dismissively and with a laugh, said, "It’s just whenever Holy Heart City is mentioned, I think of my Wanted Order. Always leaves a bad taste in my mouth."

"Mr. Sword Saint, you’re a real hero, how could you care about a petty Wanted Order." Luoer said with flattery.

"Oh, little elf, you really know how to vanter now." Hearing Luoer’s words, Yalunte laughed again, then his gaze once more rested on Cheng Ziang.

"Why do you keep staring at me?" Cheng Ziang asked testily after noticing Yalunte’s continued attention.

"Oh, no reason, just be careful yourself. Avoid the secular nobility of Holy Heart City wherever possible," Yalunte finally warned after a moment’s hesitation.

"Why?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"Why..." Yalunte let out a long sigh, then gazed at Cheng Ziang, a look of sadness on his face as he asked, "Has anyone ever told you that you look a lot like the King of Odelanqi?"

"How did you know about that?" Upon hearing his words, Cheng Ziang’s eyes widened in surprise.

This was indeed something that had been mentioned to him before. When Feliz had said that he and the king looked alike, this had raised his suspicions. Now that Yalunte brought it up, it brought his doubts back to the surface.

"Anyway, just be careful," Yalunte didn’t directly answer his question, he spoke with a touch of sadness, "Avoid contact with the king and the top officials of Odelanqi if possible, they are dangerous."

After this, he did not give Cheng Ziang the chance to ask more questions, as he hurriedly left the group. His retreating figure looked somewhat disheveled, giving the impression of a hasty retreat.

"Luoer!" Cheng Ziang called out to Luoer after watching Yalunte leave. Then he dragged him to a corner, away from the others.

"I asked you to find out about my background from our instructor, what did you find out?" Cheng Ziang asked seriously, looking at Luoer.

"You asked me to find out if Mr. Sword Saint was your father, I asked, but Wang Xu didn’t provide a clear answer. He just said if your paternal genes are indeed from Mr. Sword Saint, then you shouldn’t have the features of an Aud person," Luoer responded while furrowing his brow, lost in thought.

"What about my maternal genes?" Cheng Ziang continued to probe.

"Maternal..." Hearing his words, Luoer paused for a bit, then, as if he’d suddenly figured something out, he said, "It seems I didn’t ask that. I only asked about your paternal genes because I thought you must be a hybrid of Earth and Otherworld, like everyone else."

"Luoer, do you know why my master is wanted?" Cheng Ziang asked abruptly, changing the subject.

"Eh," Luoer once again paused, then replied hesitantly, "I think... it was said that Mr. Sword Saint had kidnapped..."

"Master abducted a princess, the Princess of Odelanqi... Later, Master worked for the headquarters, but the whereabouts of the princess became unknown." Cheng Ziang said solemnly.

"You, you wouldn’t suspect..." Luoer blinked his eyes at him and asked.

"I once talked with Feliz for a while. She said that at the time Master abducted the princess, the princess was pregnant." Cheng Ziang paused here, couldn’t help but take a deep breath, looking quite nervous.

"So you think..." Luoer widened his eyes at him.

"Luoer, please, could you do me a favor and help me investigate this?" Cheng Ziang grabbed Luoer’s arm, pleading sincerely.

"Rest assured, leave it to me. I’ll help you figure it out," Luoer nodded, speaking with a serious look.

"Thank you!" Cheng Ziang expressed his gratitude.

The two of them left the corner together, returning to the crowd. As soon as Luoer reached Baiyue, he suddenly grabbed her arm.

"What is it?" Baiyue was startled by Luoer’s sudden action, her face immediately flushed.

"Yue’er, I need a favor," Luoer looked at Baiyue, speaking sincerely, "Can you go to the library and check the genealogy of the Odelanqi royal family for me? Record the information on the most recent generations and give it to me before we leave."

"Alright, I’ll do it right away!" Owing to her trust in Luoer, Baiyue immediately agreed to the task without even asking why.

"Thank you," Luoer said with a smile.

"No, it’s not a bother at all!" Faced with Luoer’s sincerity, Baiyue blushed once again. For her, being able to help Luoer was the best reward.

Letting Baiyue retrieve the genealogy was the most convenient choice since she was the most well-read and knowledgeable person in the entire advance team. Without her, the average educational level of the team would definitely decrease.

"What did you ask her to do?" Seeing Baiyue leaving hurriedly, Tangmo couldn’t help but ask curiously.

"It’s nothing, just asked her to do something for me." Luoer shook his head, then turned to see Tangmo intently staring at him.

"What is it?" Luoer asked, taken aback.

"Nothing..." Tangmo withdrew her gaze, shaking her head slightly with a hint of melancholy.

Luoer approached Tangmo, scrutinizing her carefully. She wasn’t wearing her hair clip and didn’t radiate the aura that is unique to Momo, so he concluded that the Tangmo in front of him was her sister.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Feeling uncomfortable under Luoer’s gaze, Tangmo blinked and asked.

"Oh, nothing. I was just wondering, your sister seems to have been out of sight lately?" Luoer shook his head as he spoke.

"Oh? You miss her, don’t you?" Tangmo asked, squinting.

"That’s not what I meant," Luoer dismissed the implication with a wave of his hand, "I just felt that I upset her last time and haven’t had the chance to apologize properly. I don’t know whether she’s still mad at me."

Hearing Luoer’s words, Tangmo couldn’t help but sigh deeply, then said to him, "Even if she is still mad at you, hearing what you just said would likely end up making her laugh."

"Really?" Luoer asked excitedly.

"Do you want me to bring her out to talk to you?" Tangmo asked.

"Uh, sure...I guess..." Luoer scratched his head, speaking shyly.

"What’s there to be shy about. Aren’t she and I, basically, the same person?" Tangmo sighed lightly, then closed her eyes, and when she reopened them, her whole demeanor had once again transformed.
