Chapter 749: Chapter 742: Radical Measures
"Luoer, would you unconditionally forgive everyone who has hurt you?" Tangmo looked up at him and asked.
"No," Luoer looked down at her and said firmly. "I would only forgive those I care about. For those I don’t care about, I’d let them die."
Upon hearing Luoer’s response, Tangmo burst into laughter, her eyes gleaming with tears. "Then, from now on, I won’t give you a chance to forgive me again."
"I trust you; I trust you both," Luoer said earnestly.
"Heh," Hearing Luoer’s words, Tangmo once again revealed a charming smile. "Now you finally admit that you’re a flirt, don’t you?"
"Uh..." Luoer blinked, scratching his head awkwardly.
"I don’t care!" Tangmo said softly, her face resting lightly against his chest, feeling his heartbeat and his warmth.
After a brief moment of tenderness, with their faces flushed, they headed to the hallway. Cheng Ziang was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, giving them both a cheeky grin. "All done?"
"Mmhmm, completely satisfied!" Tangmo narrowed her eyes, nodding happily.
"Momo, ignore him. He’s up to no good," Luoer said, blushing.
"Neither am I," Tangmo turned to look at him, sporting a mischievous smile.
The two moved over to Cheng Ziang, who was standing quietly beside him, staring silently.
Seeing Feng, Luoer immediately had an idea and said to Cheng Ziang, "While we have this time, let’s discuss our plan to rescue Mu Lansi."
"Are you really set on rescuing him?" Tangmo asked, looking at him.
"No matter what, we should prepare from all angles. As the saying goes, better safe than sorry. Otherwise, if headquarters also orders us to proceed with the rescue and we are without a plan, it’ll be troublesome," Luoer replied.
"I happen to have a rather good idea," Cheng Ziang chimed in.
"Let’s hear it!" Luoer urged.
"My plan combines elements of Yue’er’s plan. We approach the Asirens under cover of night, then take out one of their air defense positions. Next, we send in a special forces team to descend directly from above, with Feng handling the remaining two air defense positions. Finally, the team splits into two: one led by Fula targets Mu Lansi directly, and the other led by Feng heads straight for the anti-gravity engine room," Cheng Ziang explained.
"Isn’t splitting up a bit too risky?" Luoer asked hesitatingly. "After all, we’re already short on manpower."
"If we don’t split up and just focus on rescuing Mu Lansi, I fear the remaining airships might not be able to immediately bring down the Asirens. You must know, this ship relies on an anti-gravity engine for lift. As long as the anti-gravity engine remains undamaged, the Asirens will continue to hover in the air," Cheng Ziang reasoned.
"Perhaps we should consider a different approach," He paused before adding, "If Mu Lansi is deemed a traitor, we don’t need to rescue him. We aim for the anti-gravity engine room, destroy it, and make the Asirens crash."
"That seems too dangerous," Luoer shook his head. "If we destroy the anti-gravity engine room, we might not be able to evacuate from the Asirens on time. This could put our people in danger."
Cheng Ziang was not taken aback by Luoer’s rejection, knowing that such a scheme would surely be vetoed by him. He primarily proposed it to stir the pot and encourage others to come up with better plans.
"Your plans have a fundamental flaw: your reach exceeds your grasp," Luoer said to Cheng Ziang, "We are here only to follow the orders from headquarters. We do what they tell us; if they order us to capture someone, we capture someone. If they order us to blow up a ship, we blow up a ship. We shouldn’t do things that are irrelevant to our mission, like trying to save someone while also attempting to blow up a ship. If headquarters orders us to capture someone, we should just get into the Asirens and capture Mu Lansi. Whether the Asirens will be shot down or whether the Zhuyan People will get the anti-gravity engine is not our business, unless headquarters specifically instructs us to destroy the Asirens. Otherwise, we are not obligated to concern ourselves with the fate of the ship."
"Sure enough, you’re as heartless as ever in this aspect." At Luoer’s rebuttal, Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head.
As the captain of the Advance Team, Luoer might do many things during a mission that are irrelevant to the mission, like saving someone. However, he absolutely won’t meddle if such minor issues might threaten the safety of the Advance Team.
Just like this mission, if headquarters tells him to rescue Mu Lansi, Luoer would definitely devise a plan to save her. As for the fate of the Asirens or whether the Zhuyan People may acquire it, these are absolutely not of his concern.
In this regard, Luoer can be considered a sentimentless mission machine. If anything endangers the safety of the Advance Team, he would definitely refrain from meddling.
"I also think Luoer makes a valid point. Since we’re not Ronisca’s soldiers, any damage to Ronisca’s interests has nothing to do with us." Tangmo stepped forward in agreement.
Then she looked up at Luoer and said seriously, "Don’t forget, headquarters has been considering transferring us back to Earth. If something happens to Luoer during a mission like this, headquarters might just reassign all of us."
"Hmm!" Seeing that Tangmo was considering him, Luoer felt a bit touched and nodded at her with a smile.
"Ah, but I actually don’t care," Suddenly, Tangmo changed her tone and said with a smile, "If I can go back to Earth, I can be with Luoer every day. Why would I refuse such a good thing? Isn’t that right, sister?"
"What about Feng and Fula if we all leave?" Luoer asked with difficulty.
"Hmph, I knew you couldn’t bear to leave them. You wouldn’t want to leave all those young girls at the station either, would you?" Tangmo retorted, pouting.
"Those are two different things. It’s not like I fancy them..." Luoer argued with a touch of grievance.
"Enough, haven’t you two finished your sweet talk?" Cheng Ziang sighed, "Since we have to follow headquarters’ orders, let’s just wait for their commands and the results of Yue’er’s reconnaissance before we make a decision."
"Actually, we have a reliable ally." Tangmo suddenly said.
"Who?" Luoer asked.
"Commander Reimer." Tangmo responded.
"Didn’t we just discuss it in the meeting? Commander Reimer’s position is uncertain. If we disclose our plans abruptly and he turns out to be one of Mu Lansi’s men, we would be in danger." Luoer pointed out.
"Frankly, sometimes, I think you guys are a little too cautious." Tangmo shrugged, spreading out her hands.
"What do you mean?" Cheng Ziang asked her.
Tangmo chuckled without answering. She suddenly walked to Cheng Ziang’s side, grabbed Feng’s arm, raised it high, and said, "With Feng’s strength, why should we fear Reimer? Even if Commander Reimer is truly Mu Lansi’s person, what then? Could all the people on this warship combined be a match for Feng? The worst-case scenario is that we kill everyone on the ship and then parachute to escape."
"But if we start a massacre on Ronisca’s air fleet..." Luoer looked at Cheng Ziang and said hesitantly.
"Reimer is the commander of the air fleet. If he has already defected to Mu Lansi, a major purge awaits the fleet when they return. Commander Mooer will surely appoint people he trusts to take over the air fleet. So, even if we kill everyone on the air fleet, so what?" Tangmo said indifferently.
Although Tangmo’s argument held some truth, her thinking was a bit radical. Clearly, she was still the Momo everyone was familiar with, the Momo who would go to any lengths to achieve her goal.
