Chapter 748: Chapter 741: Keep Surveillance
"Makes sense. In other words, the end result will either be us rescuing someone and then taking down the Asirens, or just taking down the Asirens directly, without the need of a rescue." Luoer nodded in approval.
"Obviously, the fate of Mu Lansi is significantly intertwined with the decisions made by the higher-ups in Ronisca. If he’s proven to be colluding with the enemy, I don’t think the top brass of Ronisca will let him off easily," said Tangmo.
"So this makes our intel here quite crucial," Cheng Ziang looked at Luoer and said with a smile, "If there’s even the slightest bit of discrepancy with our intel, Mu Lansi could very well die needlessly."
"Fula can be trusted, I believe her on this," Luoer pondered.
"I haven’t lied!", confirmed Fulajie’er sitting on Luoer’s shoulder, chiming in seriously.
"Fula may not lie, but there’s no guarantee that she won’t make mistakes," Tangmo said while tapping on the table, "Even though Mooer has attained absolute political control in Ronisca for the time being, Mu Lansi is still a prince. If anything happens to him, Mooer will definitely not have it easy. The suppressed opposition in Ronisca will surely seize this opportunity to pressure him."
"Hmm," Luoer nodded approvingly then he said sternly, "So our mission should be, as far as possible, to send Fula to keep an eye on every move of Mu Lansi and check what’s actually going on with him and those hostage-takers."
As he said this, he scratched his head a bit irritably, and said helplessly, "It’s just a pity that Fula doesn’t understand Dwarven. Otherwise, we could figure out what on earth Mu Lansi is up to."
"Hmm..." Upon hearing Luoer’s words, Fulajie’er, who was sitting on his shoulder, made a whining noise.
"Who among us understands Dwarven?" Looking around, Cheng Ziang’s gaze finally fell on Baiyue.
Noticed by everyone’s gaze, Baiyue nodded and then stepped forward to say, "I’ve self-studied some Dwarven. I can barely understand what they’re saying."
"But Yue’er can’t turn into a ghost and infiltrate the Asirens like Fula can," Luoer shook his head and said helplessly.
"How about we ask Commander Reimer for help? Isn’t he proficient in both Dwarven and Chinese?" suggested Hu Daoke.
"No way, we can’t alert him, in fact, it would be best if he didn’t know about this," Luoer shook his head.
"Why not?" Hu Daoke asked wide-eyed.
"Because we don’t know whether Reimer is loyal to Mooer or Mu Lansi. So, we would rather be cautious and refer the problem to the Headquarters," Cheng Ziang explained.
"Wait, isn’t Reimer the commander of the air fleet, he should be loyal to Commander Mooer, right? What does he have to do with that Mu Lansi?" Hu Daoke asked in confusion.
"That’s just a suspicion," Cheng Ziang said, "the Asirens is under Commander Reimer’s fleet command. If all of its crew defect, Commander Reimer will definitely be implicated. So, without solid evidence, it’s better not to act rashly. A few minor inconveniences from him would be a small issue, but if he turns against us too, it would put us in danger on the airship."
"Oh, so at this stage, we should..." Hu Daoke had a dawning realization after Cheng Ziang’s explanation.
"Don’t rush, only speak of things we have evidence for, and even then, we shouldn’t be the ones to bring it up. Better to leave it to the higher-ups for communication," Luoer said.
"So what should we do next?", Hu Daoke scratched his head and asked.
"Dispatch the transport plane to follow up continuously. Although Fula doesn’t understand Dwarven, she can keep an eye on Mu Lansi’s actions and figure out his relationship with those hostage-takers, to verify our suspicions," Tangmo coldly analysed.
"Hmm, I agree with Momo’s approach!" Luoer agreed.
"Also, have Yue’er tag along. If Fula hears anything she deems important, she can come back to consult with her. Yue’er understands a bit of Dwarven, this could make our reconnaissance a bit easier," Tangmo continued.
"Yue’er, what do you think?" Luoer asked for her opinion.
"I have no objections," Baiyue glanced at Tangmo, and then shook her head with her lips pursed.
"Good, Little Ke, you go with Yue’er and assist her!" Luoer nodded.
"Hey, leave it to me. I can’t handle the stratagems, but this kind of physical work is no problem for me," proclaimed Hu Daoke, patting his chest confidently.
"What about Commander Reimer?" Cheng Ziang asked, looking at him.
"Before Headquarters issues new orders, don’t reveal our reconnaissance results to him. For now, let’s use the rescue mission as an excuse to cooperate with our work," Luo’er suggested.
"That’s the plan!" Cheng Ziang nodded, agreeing with Luo’er’s proposal.
"Well then, Yue’er, please teach Fula some key phrases in Dwarven. She might pick up something valuable," Luo’er suggested to Bai Yue before the meeting adjourned.
"Understood!" Bai Yue glanced at him and then at the eager Tangmo, sighed softly, and nodded in agreement.
"Luoer, am I great?" As soon as the meeting adjourned and everyone hadn’t left yet, Tangmo suddenly hugged Luoer from behind, sticking to his back like she was seeking praise.
"Be careful, everyone hasn’t left yet," Luoer said, blushing, attempting to extricate himself from Tangmo, who clung to him like an octopus. He was not as thick-skinned as Momo, and would easily blush in such situations.
"If everyone leaves, then I can do whatever I want," Tangmo whispered, blowing warm breath onto Luoer’s neck.
"Why do you always cling to me?" Luoer asked helplessly.
"You don’t like it?" inquired Tangmo.
"It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that I feel a little..." Luoer began, but stopped midway through his sentence.
"A little what," Tangmo’s expression gradually soured, "You’re not still pining for Baiyue, are you?"
"I..." Luoer turned to face her. Tangmo took the opportunity to wrap her arms around his neck, gazing up at him affectionately.
"Don’t forget what you said to my sister back then—I heard everything!" Tangmo squinted at him, a mischievous grin on her face.
"If you already know, then why..." Luoer asked, sounding somewhat uncertain.
Tangmo bowed her head and after a moment of silence, gently touched Luoer’s tender cheek. "What does it matter? When it comes to feelings, I never believe in fate, only in myself," she murmured softly.
"Oh, I just can’t with you," Luoer sighed deeply, ignoring Tangmo’s surprised gaze. He suddenly leaned in and embraced her, pressing her head onto his chest. "Are you satisfied now?" he asked in a low voice.
Tangmo’s reaction went from initial surprise to eventual delight. A happy smile spread across her face as she bit her lip and said, "See, I knew I’m the only one who could handle you."
"I need to make something clear," Luoer pushed her away and then looked at her earnestly. "The reason I treat you this way is because you are Tangmo, not because you’re my sister or sister-in-law."
"I know, you want it all!" Tangmo squinted her eyes and said with a grin.
"You heartless man," Tangmo reached out to squeeze his cheek, her voice choking up as she began to cry. "Why are you still so good to me after the way I treated you before?"
"That’s all in the past..." Luoer didn’t know what to say and could only offer words of comfort.
"If I had known it would turn out like this, I shouldn’t have hurt you," Tangmo sobbed, her voice trembling. "I just... I just wanted you all to myself. I was afraid, if my sister took your body, then I would lose you completely..."
"So, you wanted to hurt me to make your sister give up once and for all, so that you could be with me forever, right?" Luoer asked.
"Yes!" Tangmo nodded her head, making a whimpering sound.
"You..." Luoer didn’t say anything, but simply hugged her once more.
