Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 729 - 722: Reconnaissance Soldier System

Chapter 729: Chapter 722: Reconnaissance Soldier System

"Who is she, she’s not Tangmo!" Fulajie’er had been sitting comfortably on Luoer’s chest when Tangmo burst into the room and passed straight through her, taking Luoer’s attention away. This caused her to feel a surge of jealousy, and she floated into the air, huffily asking.

"Didn’t I tell you before?" Luoer pushed Tangmo aside, then began to explain, "She’s another personality of Tangmo, you could say the previous personality’s little sister."

"Personality, I don’t understand?" Fulajie’er frowned and pouted.

"It’s like a soul. There are two souls living in one body, so it’s normal for you to say she’s not the previous Moumou, but it would be wrong to say she’s not Tangmo." Luoer explained.

"Two souls?" Upon hearing Luoer’s explanation, Fulajie’er’s eyes widened in surprise, she curiously looked at the current Tangmo.

Tangmo again clung to him like an octopus, making Luoer quite uncomfortable. Fulajie’er watched this Tangmo for a long time before asking, "So, she is another girl."

"Ah, you could understand it that way." Luoer nodded, pushing Tangmo away as he answered.

"You went and got involved with another one." Fulajie’er told him.

"Huh?" Luoer blinked, not understanding her thinking.

"Hmph, I’m not dealing with you anymore, I’m going to find sister!" Fulajie’er huffed and in an instant disappeared into thin air.

"Wait, did you perhaps misunderstand?" Luoer called out to the empty air in desperation.

"Now it’s just the two of us!" Tangmo blinked, looking at him fondly.

"Mercy, do you only want to disband the entire Vanguard team?" sighed Luoer.

Tangmo didn’t speak, she just squinted her eyes and snuggled happily against him. But after a while, Luoer suddenly heard that familiar, sickly voice saying: "You’re a fickle heart, you need to be punished!"

This was a sign in Luoer’s dream, just before he met Momo. When he heard that sentence, Luoer’s whole body shuddered, and he stared incredulously at Tangmo.

"I feel like I’ve said that to you before." Tangmo looked back at him fearlessly, grinning triumphantly, her smile was still Momo’s familiar, confident smile.

"This is a scenario from my dreams." Luoer exhaled, answering honestly.

"It seems we’ve already met in our dreams," Tangmo said, before sighing suddenly. The smile on her face froze. "Actually, the reason I cling to you so much now is because I fear losing you. I always worry that you will leave me. After all, my sister and I share a body, and I fear that you... might prefer her... and then I would vanish..."

"When did you start worrying so much?" Luoer comforted her.

"When I found out you had so many sweethearts!" Tangmo glared at him, looking wronged.

"Eh, well that..." Luoer coughed awkwardly.

"You won’t abandon me, right?" whispered Tangmo.

"Mhm," Luoer nodded, then said, "As long as you don’t do anything wrong, I won’t dislike you."

"What would count as wrong?" Tangmo asked, glancing at him.

"You should know in your heart." replied Luoer.

"So, if I make all your sweethearts hate you, would that count as wrong?" Tangmo asked, smiling at him.

"Well, about that..." Luoer masked his embarrassment with another round of coughing.

"Oh, you fickle-minded carrot, I really have to punish you!" Tangmo murmured with her head lowered. However, this time, she was not using her sickly sweet voice.

About a week after completing the experiment, Wang Xu and Li Si were finally able to readjust and rejoin the base.

Upon Wang Xu’s return to the base, Luoer’s continued concerns were finally confirmed. In principle, the Advance Team had to continue performing tasks in the Otherworld. However, they were not allowed to take on overly dangerous missions, for the political value of the team had now far outweighed their military value for headquarters.

Having received Wang Xu’s assurances, Luoer was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. He had been living on pins and needles, fearing being transferred back to Earth. For him, this outcome was nothing short of a perfect ending.

This time, Wang Xu returned not only with the good news that Luoer was concerned about but also brought along significant changes in the weaponry and equipment for the Advance Team.

After summarizing the experiences of the Advance Team and their combat situations in the Otherworld, the Otherworld Weapons Research Center had developed a comprehensive set of systematic weaponry and equipment, collectively known as the Reconnaissance Soldier System, a product of the combination of Earth’s technology and Otherworld’s magic.

The Reconnaissance Soldier System was divided into five categories: mobility, firepower, protection, concealment, and information exchange. The Research Center provided the corresponding equipment for these categories. Along with the existing gear of the Advance Team, they initiated the team’s reform.

As the trump card unit of the headquarters, Luoer’s First Vanguard Team naturally became the first users of this system.

Though referred to as users, Luoer was well aware that the Weapons Research Center was planning to use them as guinea pigs for their experiments again. Therefore, he did not have high hopes for this system from the beginning.

Within the five categories of the Reconnaissance Soldier System, some had already been equipped, such as protection. The body armor currently equipped by the Advance Team could be deemed the strongest in the Otherworld. It had performed remarkably during the battle to capture Fu’en, resisting multiple failures of the Advance Team and ensuring the survival rate of the team members.

Next was firepower, which did not need much adjustment as the team’s firepower was constantly being enhanced. From early-stage ordinary metallic armor-piercing bullets to later Breaking Method bullets and shield breaking bullets, and then to explosive bullets, the firepower of the Advance Team had been steadily increasing.

So when the concept of the Reconnaissance Soldier System was proposed, the Research Center incorporated this system into the firepower category without much adjustment.

Then came the information exchange. At present, the Advance Team’s communication mainly depended on Fulajie’er, a spirit being. Therefore, the Research Center also included Fulajie’er in the Reconnaissance Soldier System and introduced the concept of a pseudo-AI command system.

The general concept was to expand the Soul Domain of the Vanguard Team through certain means, allowing Fulajie’er to command and exchange information within a certain distance. On this basis, Fulajie’er was positioned at the center of the squad, in charge of transmitting information and commanding combat.

Of course, it was not realistic to have Fulajie’er lead the Vanguard Team in combat, so she was directly commanded by the team captain.

This was the most challenging project in the entire Reconnaissance Soldier System and was still in the theoretical stage. Unlike the other projects, most of which were already equipped.

One day, Li Si gathered everyone from the Advance Team in an open space and prepared to showcase the weapons and equipment of the Reconnaissance Soldier System.

"Wow, it looks like we’re about to trade in our old guns for new ones!" Hu Daoke was excitedly rubbing his hands together.

Li Si led everyone to the shooting range, where a pistol and a 47-type rifle were laid out on a table next to him, along with several mysterious boxes.

"Next, I’m going to show you the Reconnaissance Soldier System’s weapon equipment for the concealment project," said Li Si, as he opened one of the boxes and took out a cylindrical object.

"Is this a silencer?" Luoer hesitated before asking.

Li Si was holding a black rifle silencer in his hand. It wasn’t much different from ordinary rifle silencers, except that there seemed to be a cubic object attached to the end of it, but its function was unclear.

"That’s it? Just this?" Hu Daoke was dumbfounded and asked dismissively.

"Don’t underestimate this silencer. As I mentioned earlier, the Reconnaissance Soldier System is a combination of Earth’s technology and Otherworld’s magic. Therefore, the silencer you see is not a simple one," Li Si explained.

"So it’s a magic silencer?" Cheng Ziang asked, crossing his arms.
