Chapter 726 - 719: Attack Replication

Chapter 726: Chapter 719: Attack Replication

"I see!" Listening to Tangmo’s words, Zhuyan Yu continually nodded her head.

"I still have one question, so we may need to conduct a few more experiments. After that, I think I should have a reasonably accurate hypothesis." Said Tangmo.

"Let’s get started then!" Zhuyan Yu impatiently said.

Apparently, in the field of magic, Tangmo’s insights far surpassed her teacher, she was even on par with Nightingale, an expert in the field.

Zhuyan Yu might excel in this field, but her age limitation has slowly rigidified her thinking. Even though Nightingale could be considered a magic encyclopedia, she could never detach herself from the emotional thinking of Otherworld’s magic and engage in rational discussion.

In this aspect, Tangmo, while inferior to the two, has the courage to challenge existing ideologies and is willing to critically discuss these magic concepts with rational thinking. This is what the two lack, but also the most valuable thing.

"Feng," Tangmo looked at Feng and said loudly, "Next, switch up your attack methods and try stabbing!"

"If I’m stabbing, I won’t be able to cut them down!" Feng naively remarked.

"You don’t need to cut them down, just do as I say!" Tangmo ordered.

Then, she instructed Feng to close her eyes while Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke changed the targets. Only after swapping the targets, Feng finally opened her eyes.

The initial steps of her operation were no different from last time. Given the straw man target, all she could do was survey her surroundings to lock on to it. Then, she closed her eyes, raised her sword, and lunged forward.

"Plop, Plop, Plop!!!"

Along with the thrust of her blade, the straw men surrounding her were hit once more. Feng’s attack pierced through the wooden frame, leaving a hole as wide as the blade itself.

"Well done," Seeing the result, Tangmo clapped her fists excitedly, then ordered, "Retrieve the targets, then set up new ones!"

As she said so, she turned to address Yue’er and Teacher Zhu, "You two will be in charge of examining the attack marks on these targets."

"Got it!" Baiyue nodded in response.

As hard labour, Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke rolled their eyes at each other as they continued to haul targets as ordered by Tangmo. Feng stood there quietly, every chance she got, her eyes would be admiring her newly acquired longsword. Clearly, she liked the gift that Cheng Ziang gave her.

"Alright, next up Feng, switch your attack method, use the move you used to repel the monsters at the watchtower!" Tangmo continued to order.

"That move?" Feng tilted her head and blinked her eyes in thought for a while before finally understanding.

Then she took a small breath, continued to survey her surroundings to lock onto the target. After completing this, she raised her longsword above her head and sharply stabbed it into the ground.

As expected, all targets surrounding her once again suffered a blow from above. The wood of some targets was even split in two.

"Very good, very good, I finally understand!" Tangmo excitedly nodded her head and clapped her fists together.

"Sister Moumou, all the attack marks are almost identical." At that moment, Baiyue brought her some exciting good news.

"I understand the principle now!" Tangmo excitedly said to Zhuyan Yu.

"Tell me quickly!" Hearing Tangmo’s words, Zhuyan Yu asked with anticipation.

Not only her, even the ever-quiet Nightingale who was reading a book, couldn’t sit still at this moment. She put down her book and stared at the excited Tangmo without blinking.

"The principle is actually very simple, it’s attack copy!" Tangmo said excitedly.

"Attack Copy?" Hearing her words, everyone couldn’t help but exchange glances.

"That’s right," Tangmo said animatedly, "we thought that if Feng can use magic formulas without the need for a medium, then she should also not need to use a weapon. But she relies heavily on her weapon. This can only be explained one way. That is, she uses the weapon as a reference for magic attacks, then performs attack copying."

"Can you be more specific?" Zhuyan Yu asked hesitantly.

"Look at these two targets that have been cut in half. One is the result of being cut directly with a knife, and the other is the result of an attack with magic formulas. Although the positions where they were cut are not the same, the knife wounds exactly match. This means that the essential effect of Feng’s magic formula is to cut with a knife." Tangmo explained.

"Uh, that seems a bit contradictory..." Zhuyan Yu remarked.

"Let me put it another way," Tangmo gulped down some water to lubricate her throat before continuing, "Feng waves her knife in front of her, apparently not cutting anything, but all the targets around her were hit. Does this mean that she replicates her single knife stroke many times, places it in front of each target, then activates them all at once?"

"You mean she uses magic formulas to replicate her own attacks to achieve the effect of hurting people from a distance?" Nightingale seemed to understand something and pondered with a frown.

"Exactly," Tangmo agreed, "the way that Feng releases her magic formulas is by unleashing stored magical power within her body, and then using it to target her magic formula attacks. So, can we make this assumption?"

After another swallow, Tangmo continued: "When Feng locks onto all of her targets, she is already releasing the magical power from her body onto them. Then she wields her long knife, guiding that magical power to replicate her attack, which is then applied to the targets."

"So that’s why she needs her weapon so much!" Baiyue said in sudden realization.

"Exactly. I just asked Feng if she could release these magic formulas without a weapon, and her answer was no. It made me think. Could it be that Feng’s magic formulas need the movement of wielding a weapon as a reference?" Tangmo nodded in response.

"So everything can be explained," Zhuyan Yu said in sudden understanding, "Feng doesn’t need a medium to cast her magic formulas, but needs a weapon as a reference. Because essentially, her magic formulas need a weapon attack to reference and copy. That’s why she relies on her weapon."

"That’s right, remember the experiment I conducted on the airboat, where I specifically asked Feng to inject my body with magical power?" Tangmo reminded, "Without a weapon attack reference, Feng could only release high-pressure magical power into the target’s body to reach a lethal effect, and couldn’t create those cool moves. Because without a reference, she couldn’t simulate those attack methods."

"Let me summarize Feng’s magic formula attack," Zhuyan Yu raised her hand to slightly ponder for a moment, then continued, "First, Feng locks onto her targets and starts to cast the magic, preparing for the attack."

"Exactly!" Tangmo nodded, urging her to continue.

"Secondly, she swings the long knife, as a reference for the magic attack, allowing the magic she casts to copy that attack method." Zhuyan Yu explained.

"Exactly," Tangmo agreed.

"Finally, she locks these attack methods onto all the targets, and simultaneously triggers them, thus completing a magic formula attack!" Zhuyan Yu concluded.

"I think the last two steps are reversed," Tangmo added, "When Feng copies an attack method, she has already locked onto all the targets. So, the final step should be to directly activate the magic formula."

"So that’s how it is!" Zhuyan Yu said in surprise, her eyes sparkling with excitement as if she had just discovered a new continent.

This was a completely new way of magic attack, different from the traditional magic formulas.

In traditional magic formulas, mages absorb and guide magic through chanting spells, and the attack mode is fixed from the moment the spell begins. Fire-based spells can only release fire magic formulas, and ice-based spells can only release ice magic formulas.

After absorbing the magic, it circulates in the body, and this magical power with attack capabilities is then released through a medium, thus completing a magic formula.

However, Feng’s situation is quite different. They are still unclear on how Feng manipulates the flow of magical power. Because she doesn’t need to chant a spell or need a medium, she just needs a weapon as a reference for the attack in order to complete a magic formula.
