Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 690 - 683: Farewell Thanks

Chapter 690: Chapter 683: Farewell Thanks

After finding the virus, Luoer suddenly felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders. Leaving his office, Luoer turned to his team and instructed, "Ziang and Little Ke, get ready. We’re going to Princess Melia’s camp to express our gratitude. As for Moumou and Yue’er, the two of you will stay on the transport plane to take care of Feng, ensuring she’s always ready for action."

He paused, before addressing Tangmo, "On the way back, I have thought about it. Now that we have Feng’s combat capabilities, there’s no need to worry about lack of firepower. So, I plan to gradually return to our Advance Team’s initial division of labor. Starting with Moumou, from today on, you’re officially the mage of the Advance Team. However, your main task isn’t combat, but providing logistical support for Feng. Any problems with that?"

Tangmo looked at him disgruntled but shook his head unexpectedly. Seeing her frustration, Luoer continued, "If anything seems unreasonable, feel free to voice your opinions. Don’t hold back."

"Why won’t you let Yue’er and me accompany you to meet Melia?" Tangmo asked, her face stern.

"Well," Luoer laughed awkwardly, shocked at her query, "we are going for official business, not a date."

"Who knows..." Tangmo mumbled resentfully.

"You," Luoer said, shaking his head helplessly, "no matter what, Princess Melia is our friend. Expressing our gratitude to a friend is a given, right? The Advance Team is constantly on the move, and we don’t know when we would meet again. It’s only right to say our goodbyes before we leave."

Upon hearing Luoer’s words, Tangmo didn’t respond but kept pouting, clearly still upset. Cheng Ziang, finding it hard to tolerate her behavior, scolded, "Enough! There’s no reason to be jealous about this. Luoer is simply expressing our team’s gratitude to Princess Melia. You were once a captain yourself — quit being so unreasonable!"

Rebuked by Cheng Ziang, Tangmo felt boundless grievances but dared not voice them. Unlike Luoer’s softer approach, Cheng Ziang’s sternness left Tangmo in fear.

After a brief rest, the team members boarded a new transport plane and left the air fleet. After the transport plane left, the air fleet immediately turned its helm towards Yazhi City.

The virus sample was much safer on the airship of the air fleet than inside the reconnaissance aircraft. Large caliber anti-aircraft cannons could easily destroy light flying vehicles, but would struggle against six massive airships, not to mention the dense ground guns mounted on them which could easily suppress all ground fire.

Not allowing Tangmo and Baiyue to accompany them to meet Melia was actually Luoer’s intention. Regardless of official or personal reasons, he didn’t want the two girls to disrupt his encounter with Melia.

Not that Luoer was looking for a chance to get closer to Melia, but he wanted to chat more privately with her. Apart from emotions, Luoer had great admiration for Melia. Despite her young age, she had already achieved tremendous successes – a feat many men could not achieve themselves.

The transport plane once again landed gently on the schoolyard. Though the soldiers were still watching enthusiastically, the atmosphere lacked the tension it previously had.

Luoer and the others exited the transport plane, gave a few instructions, and left. Tangmo and Baiyue stayed in the cabin to take care of Feng, who was currently on the ground continually restoring her magic power.

This time, Luoer didn’t wait for Melia to come out to greet him. After acknowledging the officers present, he strode directly towards Melia’s mansion.

As he approached the mansion, Melia, already informed of his arrival, was standing at the entrance in her ceremonial dress, smiling warmly. Cheng Ziang noticed that whenever Melia met Luoer and had time to prepare, she would always wear a ceremonial dress.

Clearly, she cared much about her impression in Luoer’s eyes, but then again, it was also possible that Melia simply prized her appearance in public.

"I didn’t expect to see you again so soon." Seeing Luoer approach, Melia beamed even more brightly.

"Firstly, thank you for your help, Melia." Luoer reached her and said seriously.

"My soldiers told me that you have retrieved the goods you wanted. Is everything over now?" Melia asked, neither confirming nor denying.

"Yes, it’s all over now. We owe a lot to your help this time, Melia. I truly can’t thank you enough," Luoer replied sincerely, looking into her eyes.

"There’s no need for formalities," Melia laughed and bowed her head in thought. After a pause, she looked up again and said, "I heard from the frontline soldiers, one of you from the Advance Team single-handedly wiped out all the enemies. They didn’t even have time to intervene. Is that correct?"

"Yes, it’s true," Luoer nodded, "It was that girl named Feng. I’ve mentioned before, she’s our team’s new recruit and our trump card."

"May I meet her, I’m quite interested in her," Melia asked Luoer expectantly.

"Um, she’s currently resting. The battle drained a lot of her strength so she might not be available for any visitors," Luoer said reluctantly.

"Alright." Melia’s expression was one of disappointment at Luoer’s words.

However, a faint smile soon reappeared on her face. She looked at Luoer and asked, "So, what brings you here this time? Surely it’s not just to thank me?"

"Yes, it’s mainly to thank you. You did us a great favor." Luoer was taken aback, it took him a moment to respond with a nod.

Seeing Luoer’s reaction, Melia laughed and shook her head. She then responded, "Luoer, you should know that we supported the Advance Team not merely to be thanked, but in hopes of future benefits from the headquarters."

"Of course, I’m aware. Regardless, we’re still friends, aren’t we? Expressing gratitude to a friend who’s helped us is only natural," Luoer replied earnestly.

"Friends...are you referring to the Advance Team and me?" Melia asked, pointing to herself.

"Yes!" Luoer answered affirmatively.

Upon hearing Luoer’s confirmation, an understanding smile crossed Melia’s face. It wasn’t just a surface smile, but one from deep within her heart.

"You should know that our friendship was initially mixed with the exchange of benefits," Melia pointed out.

"I know, but that’s still friendship, isn’t it?" Luoer replied, looking at Melia, "We have never turned against each other over benefits or even parted ways. At the very least, for now, we genuinely consider each other as friends."

"Indeed," Melia lowered her gaze, her face expressing satisfaction. She then raised her head to reply, "I’m pleased to have friends like you. You’re my first friends, the first who treat me as an equal."

"We’re also honored to be your friends, Melia." Luoer replied with a slight bow.

"Would you like to come in and sit for a while?" Melia asked Luoer, having regained her composure.

"No, thank you. This time, we’re also here to say goodbye. The Advance Team will soon be heading back to the quarantined area to carry out the mission," Luoer declined, waving his hand.

"I see," a hint of disappointment crossed Melia’s face, but she kept her smile. "I’ve arranged for a troop in the quarantined area. If you need help, you can find them, they will do their utmost to assist you."

"Thank you for your help, Melia. We wish you great success and good luck in battles," Luoer slightly took a step back and bowed in gratitude.

"And you too," Melia slightly lifted her skirt to return the courtesy. Looking at Luoer’s serious expression, Melia hesitated for a while before finally whispering, "Stay safe."
