Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 688 - 681: Feng Rising Cloud Surge

Chapter 688: Chapter 681: Feng Rising Cloud Surge

Feng was falling freely in a head-down posture. The biting wind made her squint involuntarily, yet, judging by her calm and composed expression, she seemed not to fear the jump from such a high altitude.

Her hands were placed on her thighs, her right hand grasping the longsword drawn in the instant she jumped. The moment her face got close enough to touch the dense canopy, she swiftly changed her posture in mid-air, flipping to a feet-down position. At the same time, she lifted the longsword high above her head, gripping it with both hands.

Everyone on the transport plane watched her vanish into the dense tree canopy in this stance. Before long, a dull thud echoed from the forest, followed by the groaning of the once densely-packed trees as they gradually started to tip over.

They were all astounded by the sight before them. In a circle with a radius of about ten meters, many trees were slowly falling almost simultaneously. And all this happened the moment Feng hit the ground.

"Damn, did a bomb just drop?" Hu Daoke could not help but blurt out.

"What a profound force," Cheng Ziang admired.

As the trees slowly fell, the sound of gunfire from within the forest became more intense, accompanied by screams.

The Advance Team could easily track Feng, who had already joined the battle from the canopy below. Wherever she went, the towering trees suffered, continuously falling amidst woeful creaks.

"We better go support her. If we’re late, there may be nothing left for us," suggested Cheng Ziang, glancing back at Luoer.

"I’m worried we might get hit by friendly fire," said Luo’er, frowning.

"There’s no need to worry about that, Feng’s perception is quite sharp. She can distinguish between friend and foe," assured Cheng Ziang, looking at the empty air, "Fulajie’er, inform Feng that the Advance Team will soon be landing to provide support. Tell her to note where her teammates are landing to avoid friendly fire!"

"Do you want me to do it?" Fulajie’er’s trembling voice came from the air, it was clear she was quite anxious about this.

"Yes, you’re a member of the Advance Team, as is Feng. You’re bound to interact someday, avoiding it won’t solve anything," replied Cheng Ziang, nodding.

"Don’t worry, Feng won’t hurt you. Try to make contact with her." Luo’er spoke in a soft voice, soothingly. Since Cheng Ziang took the initiative to play the good guy, he had no choice but to play the bad guy.

"Understood," Fulajie’er’s voice held a hint of grievance, then she fell silent.

"Each unit, check your weapons and ammunition, prepare for the landing fight!" After sending Fulajie’er away, Luo’er gave a serious command.

At his command, the members of the Advance Team began checking their weapons and ammunition. Soon, Tangmo received a reply from the aerial fleet and raised his voice to report, "Luo’er, aerial support is ready!"

"Received, aerial support is ready. Once Fulajie’er gets back, have her guide the aerial support," said Luo’er, raising his head to look at the sky. He spotted several reconnaissance aircraft and transport planes in the distance, and even further away, the massive outlines of the six vessels of the aerial fleet were visible.

In a trance, Luo’er felt as if he were back on Earth, fighting a war. They were using firearms as weapons and relied on air supremacy to provide fire support for ground troops. These elements seemed to have nothing to do with the magic of the Otherworld.

Under the exquisite piloting skills of the dwarven pilot, the transport plane made a wide turn in the air and began to gradually decrease its speed. Eventually, it made a smooth landing on the forest stone path that was barely six meters wide.

As soon as the transport plane came to a halt, the members of the Advance Team started to disembark in a single-line formation, covering each other. What confronted them was utter chaos.

The once towering primal forest was crudely cleared to make space, leaving ancient trees fallen on the ground, and the long-absent sunlight once again illuminating the earth. The stone road was now completely blocked by fallen trees, and the ground was littered with leaves and branches, underneath which they could see pools of blood.

As the members of the Advance Team landed and the transport plane took off again, the gunfire in the forest abruptly decreased, with only sporadic shots heard.

Looking at the chaotic scene before them, the members of the Advance Team could hardly believe their eyes, and they preferred to believe that it was the result of a fierce battle between their enemy and the border infantry camp.

On the stone road that had been cleared into a vacuum, several horse carts were parked. The horses that had been pulling the carts had already died in battle, and upon close inspection, they found that the manner of death of these horses was violent - their heads had been brutally severed.

Standing beside the horse carts, Feng faced the members of the Advance Team. She stabbed her long sword into the ground, stood there catching her breath, and maintained her vigilance even as their team landed.

"This..." Luoer was shocked by the scene in front of him and was almost at a loss for words.

"Indeed, Feng now is like a nuclear weapon in the hands of our Advance Team. Her ability far surpasses the sum of all our team members’ abilities," Cheng Ziang looked around and said with a smile.

"With her around, don’t we Advance Team even need to fight anymore?" Hu Daoke asked while holding a machine gun.

"No, with her around, our Advance Team can challenge more difficult enemies, and we no longer have to be tentative because of these trifling obstacles," Cheng Ziang retorted.

Luoer took a deep breath to steady his shocked state of mind. From the air, he hadn’t thought much of it, but the scene on the ground left him incredibly shocked—Feng had almost cut down all the trees nearby with nothing but the ordinary long sword in her hand.

After his initial shock, Luoer signaled caution and then stepped over the branches on the road, slowly walking towards Feng.

Feng gazed at Luoer with wide eyes. Luoer clearly saw her fatigue in her eyes. Although she rarely expressed much emotion, her eyes never lied.

Having stepped over the wreckage on the stone road, Luoer arrived before Feng, who was near the sole horse cart. He stared at Feng, wanting to say something, but didn’t know where to start.

"I... I think, I need to recharge," Feng said in a plaintive voice, as Luoer gradually approached.

"Eh? Eh!" Luoer was taken aback for a moment, then quickly nodded his head, and signaled to Tangmo, "Moumou!"

"I got it." Tangmo nodded, stepped forward to support Feng. Feng was clearly dependent on her. Just as Tangmo started to hold her, Feng immediately relaxed her taut nerves and collapsed onto her.

"You’re so heavy, don’t relax just yet," Tangmo said, somewhat struggling to hold her. She then turned her head and yelled, "Little Ke, come help out!"

"Eh, coming!" Hearing this, Hu Daoke quickly put down his machine gun and rushed over to support Feng.

Luoer and Cheng Ziang approached the horse cart, looking at the several wooden boxes in front of them with a myriad of thoughts. After exchanging a glance, Luoer immediately ordered, "Fula, guard this area with me at the center. Everyone else, put on your gas masks!"

He then took out his gas mask to put it on, and took a dagger from Cheng Ziang. He then climbed onto the horse cart.

This was a type of horse cart specifically for transporting goods. On the simple chassis were some large wooden boxes. Luoer inserted the dagger into the gap of the wooden box and, together with Cheng Ziang, lifted the lid off the box.

After removing the lid, they saw the hay filler inside. Brushing aside the hay, they saw a long, black metallic object appear before everyone.

"An anti-gravity engine!" Luoer pulled out the guide provided by the High-peak people, took one look, and announced excitedly.

"Let’s check the next box, if there’s no accident, our stuff should be in there," Cheng Ziang said calmly.

Both Luoer and Cheng Ziang went to the second horse cart and lifted the lid together once again. After brushing aside the hay, they saw the silvery gleam of the metal box inside. Seeing all this, Luoer breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if the great burden on his shoulders could finally be lightened.
