Chapter 672: Chapter 665: Martial Arts Secrets
"Extraterritorial civilians?" Tangmo and Zhuyan Yu couldn’t help but exchange glances, this was their first time hearing such a term.
"What does it mean?" Seeing Nightingale in deep thought, Tangmo couldn’t help but ask.
"It refers to people who neither belong to Earth, nor this world. It’s rumored that they come from the sky, travelling here aboard enormous sky beasts." Nightingale explained after a moment’s thought.
"Could they be aliens then?" Tangmo asked, furrowing her brow.
Nightingale let out a soft sigh, then said, "The historical records of the magical world are often riddled with feudal superstitions. Therefore, many details might be overstated. According to my understanding, they might actually be from another continent."
"Another continent?" Tangmo asked, eyes wide in surprise.
"Just like your Eurasian continent and the Americas, perhaps these people originate from another continent. Otherwise, you cannot explain why they are not troubled by Magic Power Erosion," Nightingale said.
Magic Power Erosion is the greatest obstacle to Earthlings entering Otherworld and Otherworld inhabitants coming to Earth. Even though current medical techniques can reduce the damage caused by Magic Power Erosion, complete immunity is unattainable. Just as Nightingale mentioned, a law can be modified, but not changed.
"Have you researched this?" Zhuyan Yu asked Nightingale, a hint of excitement in her eyes.
"No," Nightingale shook her head, then added, "I’ve only seen related records. If you have the chance to visit the Sacred City Library in the Church of Light, you might find many unexpected discoveries."
"In other words, magic can be used in more than one way. On another continent, people might harness magic within themselves, releasing it during fights, rather than guiding the magic to form only when fighting—like we do," Said Tangmo, suddenly understanding.
She let her face fall, heaving a deep sigh, "If only I were as capable as Feng. I feel so replaceable in the Advance Team. Even though I’m a Mage, I spend most of my time fighting with guns."
"Don’t you know any lethal magic?" Nightingale asked.
"Just a few and they’re not very powerful. I only know one incomplete Level 4 attack spell," Tangmo made a face, then said, "I’m pretty good at drawing Runes or Magic Arrays, but they’re practically useless in battle. Often, I worry that Luo’er might object to my presence in the team and leave me behind in the base, going out on adventures with the rest of the team."
"Luo’er is not that merciless," Zhuyan Yu gently patted her head, comforting her with a warm smile.
"That’s why I feel so useless. I feel like I’m always lagging behind, even Momo is better than me," said Tangmo.
"Momo?" Zhuyan Yu was taken aback by Tangmo’s words.
"It’s my other personality. She seems to be yandere. I’m always afraid she’ll hurt Luo’er—one time, she almost killed her." Speaking of Momo, Tangmo couldn’t help but shiver.
"Since you crave Luo’er’s recognition, you should find ways to improve yourself rather than just complaining," said Zhuyan Yu.
"In order to learn high-level lethal magic, I need to study at the Church’s Magic Academy. But we simply don’t have that opportunity..." Tangmo sighed heavily once again. But not long after, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration and exclaimed, "Ah, I just remembered—Luo’er has a book given to him by the prophet. It seems to be about how to store magic power within one’s body."
"Martial arts secret manual?" Zhuyan Yu joined the discussion.
"Huh?" Tangmo was taken aback and turned to look at her.
"Is the book with Luo’er?" Zhuyan Yu asked seriously.
"Yes," Tangmo nodded.
"Can you ask him to bring it here? I want to see what’s written in it," Zhuyan Yu said.
"Oh, then I’ll go get that book from him," Tangmo said, looking at her serious expression with some nervousness.
"Thank you," Zhuyan Yu said.
For the magic-loving Zhuyan Yu, that book was undoubtedly very attractive. If it could break through existing magic theories, it could have far-reaching effects on the entire field of magic technology.
She noticed that Nightingale seemed very interested in the book as well. When Tangmo suggested fetching it, Nightingale had stopped reading and was staring intently at Tangmo.
After disbanding, Luo’er didn’t immediately return to his cabin but followed Baiyue to tour the open deck. This place was located in the middle of the supply ship, an observation platform on the upper part of the ship, and also one of the crew members’ places of rest and relaxation.
Because of the recent incident, Luo’er was worried about Baiyue getting upset, so he planned to find a private place to explain the situation to her.
What made him feel uncomfortable was that Feng, completely oblivious to the mood, followed him closely, like a light bulb that refused to turn off.
Luo’er also couldn’t let her wander around. Apart from the members of the Advance Team, she wasn’t exactly friendly with anyone else. If she accidentally got into a conflict with the High-peak people, her lethal force would undoubtedly cause serious problems, so Luo’er had to take her with him.
"Don’t take what Moumou said to heart, okay?" Luo’er coughed, turned his head to glance at Feng, then scratched his head and spoke to Baiyue.
"Why are you telling me this?" Baiyue looked up, her large, round eyes staring straight at him.
"Uh, well, I’m just, um, afraid that you might misunderstand..." Her question made Luo’er, already with a guilty conscience, become more flustered. He broke into a cold sweat immediately.
"Why are you afraid I will misunderstand?"
Baiyue looked at Luo’er, wanting to ask this question but she finally chose not to. She knew what Luo’er was thinking and knew her feelings as well, so she thought some things were better left unsaid, and they could just exchange understanding glances and smile at each other.
After a while, Baiyue pulled back her tender gaze, lowered her head to reveal a shy smile, and said, "Actually, I didn’t misunderstand...and, and I’m not angry."
"Why?" Luo’er, feeling slightly embarrassed under her gaze, turned his face away, scratching his hair, and asked.
"Because, because..." Baiyue bit her lip, and in the end, she didn’t have the courage to speak her mind. She sighed softly and said, "I don’t know..."
Feng stood where she was, looking at the two embroiled individuals. Being rather naive, she didn’t understand why the two were so entangled. Their conversation in Chinese also meant she couldn’t understand what they were saying.
"Luo’er, found you! Oh, Yue’er is here too!" Suddenly, a familiar voice came from behind. The two were so startled they nearly jumped and quickly turned around.
Tangmo had already appeared next to Feng, not knowing when he had arrived, and was smiling while patting her little head. Feng, aware of Tangmo’s approach but recognizing him, hadn’t seen the need to be alert.
"Uh, we, uh, we came here to look around," Luo’er coughed, speaking awkwardly.
"Oh, I didn’t ask what you guys were doing here," Tangmo said, his face innocent.
"Uh, really? Ha, haha," Hearing his words, Luo’er scratched his neck awkwardly, then chuckled, "You, you have something you need?"
"Of course," Tangmo released Feng’s head, walked over to Luo’er, and spoke openly, "Luo’er, don’t you have a martial arts text that can make someone as powerful as Feng? Could I take a look at it?"
