Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 657 - 650: Angel of Death

Chapter 657: Chapter 650: Angel of Death

"Hand grenade!" Seeing this situation, Luo’er wasn’t able to continue chit-chatting with Tangmo, but looked at the fortress above while reaching out to her.

"Oh!" Tangmo nodded, took a hand grenade from her pocket, pulled the ring, and handed it to Luo’er.

After Luo’er got the hand grenade, he estimated slightly and then immediately threw it out. At less than ten meters away, his aim was extremely accurate, and he threw the grenade directly into the observation window of the fortress.

An explosion echoed in the machine-gun fortress, billowing smoke immediately erupted from its observation port, and the shockwave of the grenade directly blew the light machine gun there out of its emplacement.

"Attack, attack!" Luo’er waved his hand energetically, commanding his team loudly.

He and Tangmo struggled to climb to the side of the fort. The position seemed well-defended, but perhaps due to lack of manpower, only the machine-gun fort was occupied. They could hardly see any gunners on alert at other defenses.

Soon, the four members of the Advance Team crossed over the fort from left and right, arriving in the middle of the enemy’s field. At this moment, everything was chaotic. Gunners ran around nervously with their guns. On seeing the team, they didn’t attack immediately, but looked at them with wide eyes in shock.

The four of them didn’t hesitate and immediately opened fire. In close combat, the automatic rifles completely displayed their advantages. The intense firepower instantly knocked down almost all the enemies in front of them.

"Act according to plan. Ziang and Little Ke, move to the enemy camp. Little Ke, find the predetermined high ground to set up a machine gun cover, Fula, notify the sniper to get to the observation tower, cover the team!" After knocking down the enemies in front of them, Luo’er held his gun and commanded loudly.

"Understood!" The two of them answered with nods.

"Moumou, let’s go and support Feng." Luo’er said to Tangmo.

"Okay, got it!" Tangmo nodded.

Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke were in charge of the enemy living area, with several wooden houses erected here that likely served as their living quarters. The two of them moved forward, guns in hands. Every now and then, an enemy would burst out of the wooden house with a gun, but they were immediately gunned down. It was much like playing whack-a-mole.

Meanwhile, Luo’er and Tangmo were heading towards the area where Feng was attacking, preparing to provide necessary support. They had just shot dead two gunmen who ran out from another fort when they smelled the strong scent of blood in the air.

"Yer...look, Luo’er..." Tangmo widened her eyes at a place not distant and couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

She saw a familiar yet swift figure in the distance - Feng. She danced elegantly amid the crossfires, precisely and cruelly slicing through each enemy.

Wherever she went, devastation followed - bodies littered the ground, blood staining the earth, and a thick smell of blood in the air.

The way Feng killed her enemies was simple yet brutal - using a magic formula that was similar to sword energy to harm her enemies. However, one spell was enough to cut a living person in half. And it was less about harming them and more about practically delivering certain death or disability to anyone affected by her sword energy.

As mentioned before, Feng’s perception range is around fifty meters, meaning she fully understood every action within fifty meters. Thus, many of these enemies didn’t even have a chance to fire their guns; they were cut in half as soon as they aimed their rifles and then died in pain.

She was just like a dancing angel of death in a sea of blood. Every slash, every sword energy, would cut a living person into two or more pieces. Blood bathed the battlefield.

When the Advance Team launched the assault, Luo’er could noticeably feel that the enemy was weak, something he found odd. Now he finally understood. Within less than five minutes since the start of the battle, Feng had already killed nearly half of the enemies in the field, and was still expanding her achievements.

What seemed like a tight enemy defense was almost penetrated by her in under five minutes. All the soldiers defending were killed by Feng.

Luo’er noticed that Feng was not afraid of the enemy’s bullets because she also possessed the ability to cast shield magic instantly, making her virtually immune to most firearms. This was apparent during the battle at the crash landing site.

After quite a while, once she had confirmed visually that there were no survivors, Feng finally stopped. She held her long sword and gasped for breath, pearls of sweat glistening on her forehead – the heavy drain of fighting was quite clear. However, it seemed there was no need for Luo’er and Tangmo to intervene. Though they came to help Feng, they could only clean up the battlefield.

Looking at the blood-soaked carnage left behind, Luo’er and Tangmo gazed at each other, then cautiously walked through the blood-soaked battlefield, slowly moving towards Feng.

"Watch out!" Just as they reached the halfway point, Luo’er spotted a gunman emerging from a sandbag emplacement. The barrel of his rifle aimed at the exhausted Feng.

He immediately took aim at the enemy, pulling the trigger multiple times. Unfortunately, his first few shots missed their target, and the enemy quickly retreated behind cover. Thus, Luo’er could only provide suppressing fire.

From this, Luo’er discovered Feng’s limitations. Her capabilities waned against enemies out of her sensory range; after all, she was essentially a combined mage and swordsman. The range between fifty and a hundred meters was the standard engagement distance for gunmen.

However, once she heard Luo’er’s warning, Feng immediately sprang into action. She turned towards the enemy Luo’er was suppressing, and, like an arrow, charged in an attempt to shorten the distance.

Once they were within about ten meters of each other, she swung her sword upwards. Immediately, a wave of sword energy tore through the ground, flying toward the enemy behind the sandbag emplacement.

It must be said, the power of Feng’s magic formulas was much stronger than a bullet. Just one attack caused the sandbag cover to splinter apart, and the screaming enemy behind it was swiftly silenced with a splash of blood painting the cut sandbags.

After that attack, Feng looked even more exhausted, her face turning pale as she collapsed on the ground, coughing violently.

Yet, the battle was far from over, Cheng Ziang and the others were still exchanging fire with the enemies. Seeing this, Luo’er quickly ran over to her, suppressing the enemies that appeared nearby with one hand, supporting the near exhausted Feng with the other as he tried to move her to a safer location.

"I... am fine..." Feng said weakly, her lips now distinctly pale.

"Less talk, do as I tell you!" Luo’er said through clenched teeth, continuing to fire at the enemy.

His bullpup rifle was ideal for one-handed firing. Although the accuracy was not perfect, it was perfectly suited to suppressing the enemy.

"Moumou, get her out of here!" Luo’er shouted without looking back.

"Roger!" Tangmo responded, carefully wading through the blood to reach them. She took Feng off of Luo’er, handing over her rifle as she did so.

Luo’er didn’t hesitate; he smoothly set down his empty rifle, took hers, and dropped to one knee to keep firing. Tangmo seized the chance to take his nearly empty rifle and ran, carrying Feng to the cover of a nearby emplacement.

She laid Feng down and began checking her condition. As expected, her magic reserves were nearly exhausted, hence Feng’s current state.

Feng’s usage of magic power was different from others, hence the consequences of losing it were also different. Otherworld people drove magic through their bodies; if their bodies lacked magic, they would suffer extreme discomfort.

However, this was easily resolved. Just by ingesting inhibitive drugs, they could suppress this discomfort. The foundation of the Mingming Plan initiated by headquarters was to use these inhibition drugs to allow Otherworld people to stay on magic-deprived Earth long-term.

But Feng was different. She needed to have magic stored in her body. The thought of what could happen once her magic ran out was something Tangmo did not dare to think about, especially considering her current critical condition.
