Chapter 630 - 623: New Disaster Approaching

Chapter 630: Chapter 623: New Disaster Approaching

"This isn’t something you have to learn. It’s a basic human emotion." Luoer said.

"I don’t understand..." Feng said, her gaze downcast, staring silently at the elderly man who already ceased to breathe.

"Try to imagine, what it might feel like if someone you’re around all the time, one day leaves you forever. You can’t see them anymore. How would that feel?" Luoer attempted to guide her emotions.

"But..." Feng began to speak but was overtaken by a fit of coughing. She felt something blocking up her heart, an overwhelming sadness surged, making it incredibly hard to breathe.

"It’s like I’m hurt..." Feng clutched her chest, doubling over in pain.

"Perhaps crying could relieve you," Luoer said, as still as a statue.

"I don’t need such emotion..." Feng’s voice trembled as she began to cry uncontrollably, her tears fell onto the carpet.

Looking at her, Luoer couldn’t help but glanced back at the deceased old man, realising why Feng seemed to act this way.

The old man lived his entire life by prophecies, knowing clearly what he would do each day and what would happen next, he had no expectations for the future. Likewise, he knew when and why he would die, hence he was mentally prepared.

Feng was raised by the old man, thus, his actions greatly influenced her. The old man knew what the future held, thus, had no expectations for the future, the same goes for Feng.

Perhaps the old man had told her when he would die, therefore Feng was also mentally prepared. As a result, when the old man passed away, she wasn’t nearly as grieved as one might expect.

Even so, the old man was essentially her father. Humans are emotional creatures, regardless of how cold-blooded she may be, there’s no way she would be indifferent toward the old man’s death.

Luoer slowly walked to her side, hesitated for a moment before he carefully reached out, trying to place his hand on Feng’s shoulder to comfort her.

"The master has disappeared..." Suddenly, Feng interrupted and abruptly straightened up to gaze at the old man’s body.

Luoer was stunned for a moment, realizing that Feng’s perception was so powerful that she easily felt the dissipation of the old man’s soul.

"Did the master talk to you about your future? " Luoer asked.

Feng didn’t answer, she shook her head and her grieving eyes focused on the old man.

"Don’t worry, since he entrusted you to us, we will be responsible for you." Gathering his courage, Luoer finally placed his hand on Feng’s shoulder.

Feng didn’t resist Luoer’s touch, upon hearing his words, she retrieved her gaze, though she didn’t cry any more, the sadness on her face was clear.

"Did the master tell you how to handle his aftermath?" After a moment of silence, Luoer suddenly asked.

"He said not to move him and to burn this place down." Feng quietly replied.

"Burn it down?" Luoer was taken aback for a moment, then felt relieved. Since the old man entrusted Feng to the Advance Team, she naturally won’t be living here anymore.

All of a sudden, Feng’s ears twitched, the sadness on her face had been replaced by a look of caution.

"What’s wrong?" Realising her expression, Luoer quickly asked.

"We better get moving. Danger is imminent." Feng said coldly, her eyes narrowed.

"Danger?" Luoer watched her, perplexed.

"A lot, many, they’re coming towards us, we’re surrounded..." Feng said, her eyes still narrowed.

Just as Luoer was about to ask, he abruptly remembered the old man’s warning before his death, a new disaster was coming, and Feng was able to sense the arrival of disasters.

With that thought in mind, he turned his head and signaled upwards to the team behind him, saying: "Sniper group, go upstairs for reconnaissance!"

"Roger that!" Baiyue and Hu Daoke nodded, hurrying up the winding staircase. The main structure of this building was a watchtower, from where they could observe the plains several kilometers away from the rooftop.

"You two stay on your guard, I’m sending a message to the airboat to have them arrange for the transport plane." Luoer said to the remaining two.

"Understood!" Tangmo and Cheng Ziang nodded.

Feng too began to move, coming with a linen blanket and rope, she started to wrap up the old man’s corpse. Seeing her actions, Tangmo hesitated and looked at Luoer: "Luo’er, this..."

"Leave her be, let her handle it!" Luoer said this, continuing to write his message.

It wasn’t long before Luoer sent his message off. Ever since the right to send and receive magic messages came back to him, Luoer felt more connected to the command headquarters, but it also has become more cumbersome. As a captain, in principle, he should prioritize commanding the team. Sending messages should be left to the team members.

He had just sent the message when he heard hurried footsteps. Hu Daoke came running down anxiously, pointed upwards and said after a moment of loss for words, "That, big brother, you’d better come up and see for yourself, I can’t explain it clearly!"

"Alright, you two stay at the bottom, I will go up and check," Luoer instructed and then followed Hu Daoke to the rooftop.

Upon climbing to the rooftop, Luoer smelled the scent of fire in the air. The sky was covered with thick smoke, causing it to appear much dimmer. Looking around, Luoer saw thick smoke rising in the horizon.

"What’s happening?" Luoer asked abruptly after a moment of pause.

"The Church Court is burning the fields." Baiyue, who was observing, replied coldly.

"Damn, it’s spreading this fast?" Luoer was almost blinded by the smoke. At this moment, he noticed that the southeastern wind on the rooftop seemed quite strong.

"Luoer, there’s trouble." Baiyue, holding the telescope, said to Luoer.

"What is it?" Luoer asked.

"Take a look for yourself!" Baiyue handed him the telescope and pointed to the forest down the mountain.

Luoer took the telescope and saw that the forests at the foot of the mountain seemed extremely restless, as if something was agitating them, and practically all the forests at the base of the mountain were stirring.

"What on earth is that?" Luoer asked with astonishment.

"Exotic insects, they’re swarming towards us." Baiyue coldly said from the side.

"Indeed, the master was right, we can’t handle this many exotic insects." Luoer thought of the old man’s warning and his face instantly turned serious.

After a brief observation, he found they seemed to be completely surrounded by the exotic insects, with no place to run. Their only hope was the aerial transport route.

These exotic insects were extremely restless. Evidently, the Church Court’s plan was working. The fire drove these monsters to retreat, and the flames made them exceptionally sensitive and agitated, turning them extremely aggressive.

When they were formulating their action plans, they obviously overlooked this unpredictable situation. These monsters were being driven by the Church Court to retreat into the depths of the infected area. If they fail to evacuate in time, they would likely end up surrounded, and with nowhere to run.

"Check your weapons and equipment, get ready for battle," Luoer ordered loudly, "Fula, go down and inform those two to blockade the door below, then come back up to standby. We will wait for the arrival of the transport plane on the rooftop!"

"Understood!" Fulajie’er nodded and quickly flew down through the floor to the first level.

"It will take some time for the transport plane to get here from the airboat, so we may have to fight a tough battle." Luoer said solemnly to Hu Daoke and Baiyue.

"Finally, some real action!" Hu Daoke pulled out the magazine, checked it, and put it back. Then, he excitedly cocked his gun.

This watchtower was about ten meters high. Luoer estimated that given the size and jumping power of the exotic insects, it was unlikely they could jump to such a height, so they were temporarily safe. However, if the transport plane was delayed, they might not be able to withstand the attack of the exotic insects.
