Chapter 534: Chapter 527: Secret Infiltration

Luo’er put down his rifle and began dragging the corpses littering the platform into the tunnel. Once that was accomplished, he climbed up, using the bodies as footrests. He had Fulajie’er stationed in front as a lookout to prevent any surprise attacks.

After everyone had successfully climbed onto the platform, Luo’er took the lead, rifle in hand, and walked into the room. He slowly started making his way to the ground exit situated in the maintenance area.

"Two individuals are coming down the stairs. I studied them for a moment — just these two. They’re susceptible to a possible ambush!" Fulajie’er announced, floating towards Luo’er.

"Next time, be more succinct," responded Luo’er as he nodded.

"Oh!"

Luo’er took position around the corner of the stairs, his rifle aimed upwards. The Theron guards, obviously too lackadaisical in attitude, slowly descended, oblivious to the impending danger. Before they even laid their eyes on Luo’er, he fired a few rounds and brought them down. Their bodies tumbled down the stairs.

Fulajie’er quickly adjusted to this task. After checking the bodies and the area around them, she flew back to Luo’er and reported, "All clear!"

"Acknowledged. Tell everyone to press forward," commanded Luo’er.

"Oh!" Without a moment’s hesitation, Fulajie’er flew off to relay Luo’er’s orders. His demeanour had shifted from what she had initially encountered. Luo’er was now radiating an aura of authority that she found difficult to resist.

After cooperating several times, Fulajie’er started to master some auxiliary skills, such as scouting ahead, and inspecting the area for any remaining enemies after Luo’er had neutralised the threat.

Luo’er took point and led everyone into the surface building, while Fulajie’er continued her reconnaissance efforts, ensuring that none of their movements were detected by the enemy. If any potential threats were spotted, she would fall back to warn her team immediately.

They ended up in a spacious room on the ground level with a locked iron door. Luo’er signalled for everyone to gather in the room, after which he announced, "The current time is 2:10 — proceed according to the preordained plan. The explosion occurring twenty minutes from now will serve as the signal for our simultaneous attack. Understood?"

"Understood!" replied the two girls, their firearms clutched tightly in their hands. Tangmo then grabbed Luo’er’s arm and cautioned, "Stay safe."

"Don’t worry!" Luo’er reassured her with a nod. He then cautiously opened the door and stepped out. Prior to this, their Ghost scouts had already conducted reconnaissance outside, ensuring no one was in the vicinity.

The three squads filed out in a single file, each taking a different direction. Once they left the room, the aerial Ghosts immediately locked on to their positions. They would provide crucial surveillance, while the Ghosts on their team would focus solely on communication duties.

It was difficult to deny the instrumental role that these Ghost scouts played. Monitoring nearby enemy activity from the sky, they guided the squads and paved the way for smooth passage with minimal resistance.

Under the cover of darkness, Luo’er — accompanied by his squad and Nightingale — slowly advanced towards the central area of their target: the base. This was the heart of the Creation Base’s primary research grounds, where a large part of the research personnel resided. Despite it being nighttime, these researchers were still hard at work.

The security around the central structure was noticeably lax, most likely due to an abundance of confidence in their own defences. Only two lethargic, yawning Theron guards- rifles in hand- were stationed at the entrance.

Luo’er led his team to hug the walls, carefully closing in on the guards. With Fulajie’er reconnoitering ahead and the Ghosts from the sky on high alert, Luo’er wasn’t worried about potential ambushes.

"The area is clear. Only the two guards pose any threat," reported Fulajie’er as she returned from her recon mission.

"Received!" Lu’er nodded, slowly raising his rifle. At this point, they were less than five meters away from their two targets, a distance within which he would assuredly hit with every shot.

"Pft Pft Pft Pft!" Lu’er fired four consecutive shots. The first two hit the enemy closest to him. The man’s head jerked violently, and he fell stiffly to the ground. Blood even sprayed onto his companion’s face. But before his comrade could react, he was hit by two more shots from Luo’er, instantly dying on the spot.

After ensuring that there was no one else in the vicinity, Luo’er immediately dropped his gun and rushed over, helping the mercenary drag the bodies into a dark corner. All that was left behind was a pool of blood on the ground.

While dragging the bodies, Luo’er took a moment to inspect the fallen men’s weapons. Surprisingly, they were wielding NATO standard issue Galil rifles. However, the other person had a FAL rifle. From the looks of it, while the Theron’s equipment was quite advanced, it still lagged behind the Northerners in terms of unified standardization, showing signs of being made by different countries.

Having dealt with the enemies at the entrance, Luo’er led his small team to the entrance. It was an iron door, seemingly locked from the inside. After trying and failing to open it, Luo’er decided to breach it explosively.

However, this time, instead of using a Blast Rune to open the door, Luo’er opted for a shaped charge. While applying the explosives, he had Fulajie’er peek through the crack for reconnaissance. Three armed individuals were inside.

"Nightingale!" After placing the explosives, Luo’er turned his head and signaled Nightingale. Given the current circumstances, there was no time for pleasantries.

"I know!" Nightingale nodded, and came to the side of the door, taking out a sticker and placing it on the wall next to the door.

Luo’er stuck to his usual strategy of silent ambush. However, Nightingale’s handling of the runes was far more sophisticated. After placing the Silence Rune sticker, she used adhesive to affix a magic crystal to the input point. Pulling out her wand, she signaled that she was ready to proceed.

Luo’er nodded in acknowledgement and lit the fuse of the explosive. The fuse was short; it would likely burn out in five seconds. After lighting it, Luo’er signaled his mercenaries, directing three to stand guard while two followed him inside.

With less than two seconds left on the fuse, Nightingale immediately activated the Silence Rune. With a slight fluctuation of magical energy, the surroundings were instantly enveloped in a barrier that silenced all sounds, preventing any noise from escaping the area.

Soon after, a flash of light came from the iron door. The entire building tremored slightly, even shaking loose a layer of dust.

Luo’er was already accustomed to the sensation of sudden deafness. As soon as the iron door was blown open, he did not hesitate to make his entry, gun at the ready. Indeed, there were three people in the room behind the door. However, one had already been blown away by the blast, and the two remaining men, unable to hear anything, had no time to react to what was happening before them.

Seeing this, Luo’er immediately raised his gun barrel, fired a few shots at the two remaining men, and put them down with a few precise bursts of fire. The Theron’s equipment seemed powerful, but it turned out to be quite clumsy when facing the Advance Team. In terms of firepower, they were no match for the Advance Team, perhaps not even for these mercenaries. In terms of defense, they were no match for the Judgement Knights.

Luo’er, when fighting the Judgement Legion, had often felt frustrated by his attacks being ineffective. It gnawed at him that his weapons could not penetrate their defenses. However, against these Therons, he found the situation much more to his advantage. Not only were the Theron’s defenses weaker than the Judgement Legion’s, whether they were wearing Rune Armor or not, the Advance Team equipped with "Breaking Method" bullets could ensure real damage, bypassing any defenses.

After the two remaining enemies were down, Luo’er took the time to fire a few more shots to confirm their kills. He even shot an extra bullet into the Theron killed by the door blast. Meanwhile, he gestured for Fulajie’er to investigate the surrounding situation. Unable to make any sound, he had to communicate using hand gestures.

As communication between ghosts and humans was soul-to-soul, Silence Magic was useless on them. Fulajie’er could still communicate with Luo’er. However, since Luo’er could not speak out loud, and Fulajie’er could not read Luo’er’s thoughts, it resulted in a strange situation where she could speak, but Luo’er could not reply.

But Nightingale’s timing was even more precise than Tangmo’s. As soon as all the commotion had died down, she terminated the Silence Domain, and sound instantly flooded into everyone’s ears.

"Luo’er, be careful, it seems like someone’s coming through the corridor," Fulajie’er floated back and reported.

"Understood," Luo’er nodded, then turned to the mercenaries and ordered, "Two of you, stay and watch the entrance. The rest of you, follow me and proceed!"
