Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 530 - 523: Combination Methods
Chapter 530: Chapter 523: Combination Methods
Upon arriving at the inn, Nightingale secluded herself in a room, beginning to sort through the collected data. Besides meeting Fulajie’er, her goal this time was to attempt to understand in-depth the second phase of the Creating God Plan, Soul Ascension, through these ghosts.
Apparently, based on the intelligence received from these ghosts, Theron had reduced the unpredictability of Soul Ascension, lowering the risks for the next "body" fusion. Regardless, everything was now urgent. She had to hurry up and decrypt this project to present it as a gift to the higher-ups at headquarters.
On the other hand, Luo’er and the others were also busy, analyzing and sorting the information provided by the ghosts. Based on the ghosts’ accounts, they had drawn a rough layout of the base, detailing partitioned areas and patrol duty positions. Once they returned to the airboat and integrated this with the aerial photos taken during reconnaissance, they would fully understand the internal structure of the entire base.
Now the idea of disguising as Theron and infiltrating the base was impractical. Luo’er thought for a while and decided to have Luoya stay inside the airboat. After all, Luoya didn’t possess combat capability. Having her around meant allocating someone to protect her, which was a luxury for the already understaffed Advance Team.
Upon returning to the inn, Cheng Ziang proposed a daring idea that Luo’er also had in mind: utilizing the ghosts to establish a three-dimensional reconnaissance network to assist in their operation.
After struggling in the Otherworld for nearly two years, they deeply understood the importance of intelligence transmission and information communication. Ghosts moved fast, unaffected by gravity and hard to detect, making them effective tools for reconnaissance and communication. They could be stationed in the air for enemy surveillance and could return promptly to alert if enemies were discovered.
According to Cheng Ziang’s notion, the five-man Advance Team should split entirely, each leading a squad of mercenaries. Each would also be accompanied by a ghost in battle, with the remaining ghosts dispersed in the sky for intelligence and warning during their attack.
Undeniably, this was an ingenious idea and the most suitable for the Advance Team.
Compared to the armies of the Otherworld, the Advance Team’s biggest advantage was their advanced tactical thinking, indistinguishable from the Otherworld’s armies only due to environmental constraints.
However, once they found alternatives that allowed them to utilize their advanced strategies, their combat power would surge multifold. Even Theron, fully equipped with Earth’s weapons, might not be their match.
Now Theron had turned the Creating God base into an impenetrable fortress. But Luo’er knew that the most solid forts were often broken from within. Once they had a chance to infiltrate the fortress center, they could topple this castle of sin that had stood for decades.
And the ghosts were their best weapon to infiltrate the fortress.
After discussing amongst themselves, they found Nightingale and revealed their plan. Nightingale took a great interest and supported their proposal because, for her, the Advance Team’s scheme no doubt added value to the plan she was preparing to give to the headquarters.
If it were only the Deity Creation Project, probably only the Otherworld Research Center within the headquarters would be interested. Those in charge were essentially military personnel. If they realized the military significance of the Deity Creation Project, they would surely take an interest.
However, to execute this plan, they still needed to prepare extensively. The foremost issue was disciplining the ghosts. These ghosts were mostly young girls. Despite their long lives, they had always lived freely. Who knew if they could adapt to such a restrictive life?
Next, once determined feasible, they had to formulate relevant battle plans based on this scheme. Obviously, to have the ghosts assist in their mission, they would need to promise them, ensuring their safe rescue. But once they awakened the ghosts, problems would arise. Once the soul of a ghost returned to its body, who would be responsible for subsequent battle communication?
Therefore, the optimal solution for now was to establish a backup scheme that could ensure even without immediate communication, every combat unit could continue fighting without falling into chaos.
Cheng Ziang thought that they could arrange people to guard the locations where the ghosts’ bodies were kept, awakening them only after the battle was over. Yet, Luo’er was not entirely sold on this plan because, no matter what, they could not possibly completely defeat Theron. In the end, they would have to retreat after sabotaging the plan. If they couldn’t save the ghosts in time, there was a high probability that they would meet with misfortune. Consequently, it would be as if the Advance Team had killed these individuals.
After extended deliberation without finding a better plan, Luo’er decided to go see the ghosts and ask for their opinion. If they agreed to aid the Advance Team in accomplishing their mission, they would take the transport plane back to the airboat with Nightingale and formulate a battle plan.
With another visit to the Weird Talk Forest looming, Luo’er decided to wait until dusk. After a few back-and-forths, they had found a relatively easier path, so the journey from the inn to the Weird Talk Forest didn’t take too long.
After some consideration, Luo’er decided to leave Cheng Ziang at the inn to protect Luoya and Nightingale, while he and Hu Daoke went to the Weird Talk Forest together. Cheng Ziang’s individual combat skills were high, so he could basically handle everything except highly dangerous situations. Most importantly, out of all the people currently with them, Luoya trusted only two people- Cheng Ziang and him.
The moment he heard about going back to the Weird Talk Forest, Hu Daoke’s face lit up with a smile. After spending time with the ghosts a few times, he had gotten used to these invisible beings. Now, rather than fear, he felt a sense of closeness when he saw these ghosts.
The two men set off at dusk. As she watched their receding figures, Luoya couldn’t help but lower her head and purse her lips, seemingly feeling guilty about her own helplessness.
"Your brother plans to send you home and not involve you in this matter anymore." Cheng Ziang said from behind her.
"I know, it’s because I’m too useless." Luoya said somewhat dejectedly.
"Don’t say that. Your brother only cares about you and is afraid that you will be in danger." Cheng Ziang moved to stand next to her, looking down at her as he spoke.
"Is he so kind to every girl?" Luoya asked, staring at Luo’er’s retreating figure.
"Pretty much," Cheng Ziang paused, facing Luoya’s questioning gaze, he continued, "Luo’er always holds goodwill. He refuses to abandon those who could have been. People in Li Si’s group like to say that Luo’er loves to collect little girls, but actually, he just can’t bear to abandon these people. Our Advance Team is only five people in total; if we save one person, our combat power would decrease by two, but even so, Luo’er has never given up on anyone who could have been abandoned."
"Hmph!" Luoya grumbled, seemingly very unhappy with the term ’little girls’.
"You must have already spoken with the Olavia Sisters; at the beginning Luo’er was planning to abandon them and let them fend for themselves. But he was always worried about the risk the sisters would face, so he has been with them all along, from Saint Basaya to Baales, to Ancient States, and until Ilanadale." Cheng Ziang said.
Luoya, of course, knew about these matters. When she had communicated with the Olavia Sisters, their eyes were always shining whenever they mentioned Luo’er, as if he were their guardian deity. Olavia once said that if it weren’t for the fact that Luo’er was already loved by two other girls, she would probably have fallen for Luo’er instead of Hu Daoke.
"Philanderer!" Luoya mumbled. Luo’er’s figure had long since vanished, and she immediately turned around and headed towards the bed.
Although she shared a room with Nightingale, Nightingale demanded absolute silence when she was working. Therefore, Luoya couldn’t return to her own room yet and had to remain in the boys’ room.
