Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 491 - 484: Reaching Consensus

Chapter 491: Chapter 484: Reaching Consensus

"This is just a small token of our appreciation. We hope Your Majesty would graciously accept it." Li Si took out the sword and presented it with both hands, speaking respectfully.

The queen, though widely experienced, was seeing such an exquisite sword for the first time. Even she couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, let alone the nobleman and attendants surrounding her.

"You are very kind." After the initial surprise, the queen joyfully received the sword with both hands, and drew it out in Li Si’s presence.

The sword, once unsheathed, resonated with a sonorous hum. Under the sunlight, the sword was blindingly brilliant with an uncommon reflection dancing on its surface.

"This is made with the most advanced metal on Earth. Though we wouldn’t dare to compare it with the Kedal metal, it could certainly be described as having the capacity to cut through iron as if it were mud." Li Si casually steered the conversation towards the Kedal metal while explaining.

"I’m very pleased with it. Thank you for your gift. As a reciprocal gesture, we will present gifts from Ilanadale when it’s time to bid farewell." The queen sheathed the sword, her expression of joy turning serious as the brilliance was concealed by the scabbard.

"Your Majesty is too kind. We dare not expect a return gift for such a small present." Said Li Si.

"I have arranged a banquet to welcome you all. Members of the General Staff Headquarters, please follow me." The queen motioned.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." Li Si nodded, then accompanied the queen, with everyone surrounding them, to the carriage heading into the city.

As part of the headquarters, the Advance Team and the Murong Squad got into the same carriage. Inside the carriage, Shangguan Jiu looked excitedly at Luo’er across from her and exclaimed, "Luo’er, we meet again, how lucky we are!"

"Yes, we are indeed lucky." Luo’er laughed dryly, not quite sure how to face her current state.

"Yes, indeed we are lucky." On the side, Cheng Ziang held his face, his expression a faint smile.

Inside the carriage, there were only three members of the Advance Team because Tangmo and Baiyue had gone to look for Nina after they parted ways from the team. They didn’t fear that Shangguan Jiu could seize the opportunity because they had mastered a devastating weapon to control Luo’er. Only Shangguan Jiu was still in the dark, innocently greeting Luo’er.

"This place really is a paradise on earth, filled with handsome men and beautiful women." Murong sighed with admiration.

"Just wishful thinking. The people here are very conservative and won’t easily interact with outsiders." Hu Daoke cautioned.

"I heard that you’ve found your mother, is that right, Luo’er?" asked Shangguan Jiu, looking at Luo’er.

"Ah, oh, yes, that’s right." Luo’er nodded, the fervent look in her eyes making him feel slightly uncomfortable.

"So, did you..." Shan’guan Jiu was gazing at him tenderly, her intention clear although she didn’t say it outright.

"The boss not only found his mother but also scored a sister for free." Hu Daoke slung his arm over Luo’er’s shoulder nonchalantly.

He seemed to be interrupting, but in fact, he was helping Luo’er to deflect the conversation in another direction.

"A sister?" Upon hearing his words, everyone in the Murong team looked at Luo’er in surprise.

"Ah, she’s my long-lost younger sister. When our family was separated, she wasn’t even born yet." Luo’er explained after a brief cough.

"Is she beautiful?" Shangguan Jiu asked with interest.

"Of course she’s beautiful. She’s the boss’s little sister, how can she not be beautiful?" Hu Daoke commented flippantly.

Cheng Ziang remained silent on the side. He couldn’t explain why, but he was unexplainably irritated with Hu Daoke at this moment. Because of his actions, Murong and his crew would undoubtedly want to meet Luoya. The thought of Luoya meeting these individuals made him inexplicably uncomfortable.

Luoya had not accompanied the Advance Team to greet Li Si and the others. Even though she was officially a member of the headquarters, she had no obligations to fulfill and was waiting inside her tree house with the Olavia Sisters.

Nonetheless, Cheng Ziang did not imagine there would be any problem. After all, Luoya was quick-tempered and out of the numerous Advance Team members, he was the only one that could talk to her. The others simply kept formal communication with her; never mind Luo’er, who struggled to get along with her.

Queen Lilith arranged a banquet in the dining hall to entertain the guests from headquarters. To Luo’er and Cheng Ziang, the arrival of Li Si was a relief. After all, for the cooperation between the two organizations, having important figures like him was best. Luo’er and the others were simply small fry who did not want to deal with such important matters.

Nina was still withdrawn at this time and did not emerge with the queen to greet Li Si’s party. It would have been more awkward if she had appeared, for her presence would have changed Luo’er’s status from captain of the Advance Team to an illegitimate grandson the queen reluctantly acknowledges.

Of course, Nina’s absence was not for these reasons, but because she really wasn’t well. According to Tangmo and Baiyue, Nina had cried for so long that her eyes were red. If they hadn’t been there to comfort her, she probably would have cried her eyes out.

Luo Chuan’s death greatly impacted Nina. From this, one could tell that she truly regarded Luo Chuan as her one and only love. Had there not been Luo’er and Luoya to worry about, she might have wished for death herself.

The day after the welcome party, Li Si, representing the headquarters, held a dialogue with Queen Lilith. Neither the Advance Team nor Murong’s party were involved in the conversation. According to Murong, if collaboration is successful, their team will stay here for some time to help Ilanadale’s army adapt to the new equipment and train them on its usage.

The airboat was loaded with an abundance of weapons, which was just the first batch. If cooperation becomes established, there will be several more shipments.

The headquarters had a simple goal. Apart from cooperation with Ilanadale, they were particularly interested in the Kedal ore found in Ilanadale. This metal possesses superior penetration capabilities and they wished to take it back to Earth for testing. If its physical properties remained unchanged on Earth, they would import it in large quantities for use as the main material in the next generation of penetrative weapons.

Li Si’s visit was mainly for negotiating the sales of Kedal ores. If a cooperation agreement could be finalized, they would establish a trade route between Yazhi City and Ilanadale to exchange weapons and advanced technology for Kedal metals from Ilanadale.

Although the Kedal metal provides potent armor-piercing qualities, its advantage is less evident in the Otherworld due to the common use of defensive magic. If this metal is usable on Earth, it will undeniably become the new favorite for Earthlings.

Modern tanks driven by people haven’t been phased out on Earth due to conditions in the Otherworld. If Kedal metal could be used, it would be prioritized for penetrative weaponry to counter increasingly sturdy modern tanks.

As the leader of the Origin Project, the army has a keen interest in such weapons and hopes that they can be incorporated into military service as soon as possible. This metal isn’t radioactive and is far superior to armor-piercing depleted uranium rounds that cause genetic damage over generations.

Around two days of negotiations led to a compromise and unity. The headquarters would fund and aid Ilanadale in achieving industrial modernization. In return, Ilanadale would use advanced industrial methods to mine top-grade Kedal ores and sell it to the headquarters.

It’s worth mentioning that Kedal ores wouldn’t be given for free. The headquarters would need to trade weapons, ammunition, and industrial products. On the surface, it seems like the headquarters was at a disadvantage, spending money and effort on mining, and then buying the produced metals.

However, in the long run, it’s a profitable deal. Once Ilanadale completes its modernization, it will urgently need industrial goods to meet its increasing standard of living. Given their current productivity, they can’t maintain their standard of living and will inevitably have to buy from the headquarters.

As a country with a significant surplus in productivity, they can produce as many industrial products as needed. Ilanadale will become extremely dependent on the headquarters, shifting the power dynamics from proactive to reactive.

Apart from Kedal metal, Ilanadale’s extraordinarily extended lifespan is probably the most attractive aspect to the headquarters. Years ago, Earthlings formulated a plan called the Elf Planet Project, intending to use the genes of the Otherworld elves to extend the lifespan of humans on Earth. It’s possible to kickstart the plan following the cooperation with Ilanadale.
