Chapter 490: Chapter 483: Li Si Makes His Appearance

The airboat was approaching from a distance, and the roaring sound of the steam engine as well as the propellers gradually turned louder. Elves who were spectating all around the open space were probably seeing such a colossal iron beast in the sky for the first time.

Those Elves who had seen airships before had been old soldiers during the war in Otherworld. Back then, although the weapons of the High-peak people’s airships were inferior, the airships had still played a vital role in the war, driving the Earthlings back in disgrace to Earth.

For those with long lifespans, thirty years were but a blink of an eye. However, the High-peak people’s airships were no longer what they used to be. Thirty years ago, the High-peak people could only use gunpowder to launch solid shells at the ground, attack enemies with huge arrows launched from crossbow beds, or drop barrels of gunpowder to hurt Earthlings scampering on the ground.

Now, their airships have already been equipped with modern weaponry, their strengths far surpassing that of their past selves.

Frankly, the fact that the High-peak people were able to drive the Earthlings back to Earth using their airships was also largely due to strategy. The Command Department of the multinational forces had underestimated the aerial power of the Otherworld Allied Army, so they did not equip their forces with adequate air-defense power. Coupled with the severe tactical disarray after the entrance into the war in Otherworld, the Earthlings had been rendered helpless in the face of the High-peak people’s airships.

In truth, based on the defense of the High-peak people’s airships at the time, anti-aircraft artillery from the period of World War II would have been sufficient to bring them down. The coincidence, however, was that the Earthlings had failed to bring along any such weapons, hence incessantly receiving a beating from the airships.

As a civilian airboat, the four propellers of this boat were highly noticeable and they provided little to no protection. Luo’er has seen the High-peak people’s military airships before, and most of the engines for those airships had protective shields or covers to prevent ground anti-aircraft forces from sabotaging the engines.

The airboat’s main power comes from its Anti-gravitational boiler and the propulsion device, which utilizes spiral propellers. The anti-gravitational boiler is typically hidden within the airship, where it’s less likely to get damaged. If the external propulsion device faces any damage, the ship would have to land immediately, or wait for its fuel to run out, leading to a crash.

For this reason, the airships of the High-peak people always come equipped with sails to provide alternative power source. Even the most advanced airboat or airship can be seen with sails folded and hidden within it.

Luo’er and his team had already marked the location on the ground to guide the airboat to land on the water. As the target drew closer, the propellers on the airboat began to slow down. Subsequently, the airboat unfurled its massive sails, adjusting its position and direction, and began preparing for landing.

To tell the truth, such intricate maneuvers were likely outside the skills of those at the headquarters. Only those High-peak people who were intimately familiar with airboats would be capable of steering such a monstrous vessel.

Watching the enormous airboat slowly descend, marveling gasps echoed through the crowd. Luo’er couldn’t help but be amazed at the colossal airboat looming in front of him, blocking the sun.

Having been born on Earth, he has seen large warships before. However, it was the first time for him to see such a gigantic floating in the sky. Just by lifting his gaze to look at it, he felt an immense pressure over him.

The industrial products of the High-peak people have a steampunk vibe. Large steel plates sewn together with rivets, massive smokestacks billowing with thick smoke. When the airboat slowly landed, pipes on the airboat expelled white steam, creating an encouraging sound.

In the cheers of the crowd, the airboat slowly landed on the smooth waters. This part of the river outside the Divine Wood Down has a rather calm current. That large airboat, upon landing in the riverbed, practically touched the bottom directly, thus, no need to worry about the airboat being carried away by the stream.

The airboat descended gently, parting the water and mud, until it had sat steady on the riverbed. With the honking of the steam whistle, the steam engine of the airboat began to shut off and the anti-gravity boiler also stopped working. Luo’er could visually see the airboat sinking more or less ten centimeters before it finally and firmly stopped at the riverbed.

After the airboat docked safely, the metal side doors of the ship were opened, and a few High-peak Dwarves poked their heads out, calculating the height between the side door and the ground, then began pushing out the ironframe bridge to form a bridge for the ship.

The distance between the cabin door and the ground was probably about three to four meters. These Dwarves swiftly set up a bridge with a relatively smooth slope. Meanwhile, on the ground, the Elves on standby quickly laid down wooden planks on the beach to form a path to the airboat.

The first person to come out was Li Si, in a suit he had brought from Earth. Luo’er wasn’t surprised by his arrival at all. As far as he could tell, the only people who could handle such a task, apart from Wang Xu, were Li Si, and since Wang Xu needed to stay behind, there was no need to guess who would come.

Right behind him were a few familiar figures. It seems the General Staff Headquarters had trouble finding people to send into Otherworld, so they had to summon Murong and his men again.

Following them were the security-providing mercenaries attached to a Blaiqi Mercenary Corps. These mercenaries were powerful fighters equipped with state-of-the-art individual weaponry.

On the traditional mercenary market, the Blaiqi Mercenary Corps was known to be the strongest in combat and commanded the highest prices. The average person couldn’t even afford to hire them. The General Staff Headquarters were able to hire them due to connections with an associate partner.

"Line up, stand at attention!" Seeing Li Si disembark, Luo’er shouted, taking the lead in lining up.

"Salute!" At Luo’er’s command, the Advance Team of five lined up neatly and gave a military salute to Li Si.

"Didn’t the headquarters dictate that military salute isn’t required in Otherworld?" Li Si looked him up and down before remarking.

"This is a formal occasion." Luo’er responded seriously.

"Alright then, a formal occasion." Seeing Luo’er’s earnest look, Li Si could only shake his head.

Luo’er gave him a glance, then shifted his gaze to Murong Squad. Noticing his gaze, Murong greeted him with a smile, while Shangguan Jiu excitedly gestured at him.

While the two exchanged pleasantries, Queen Lillith, surrounded by nobles and servants, slowly approached them, completely surrounded by fully armed Elf guards.

"Greetings, Your Majesty. I am Li Si, representing the Otherworld General Staff Headquarters, and I wish to express my deepest respect to Queen Lillith." Seeing the Queen approaching, Li Si slightly bowed his body, positioning his arm diagonally to his chest, delivering an appropriately standard Elf salute.

He spoke in Tasta language. It would generally be more appropriate to speak in their respective languages at such formal occasions, but since the Headquarters currently didn’t have a proficient translator in Elvish, they had to make do.

Although the Queen understood the Tasta language, she had to rely on a translator’s rendition because it was a formal occasion; after all, not all Elves understood the language of Tasta as most nobles only spoke Elvish.

"Sir Li Si, the journey must have been tough. On behalf of Ilanadale, I welcome your visit." The Queen nodded slightly and responded in Elvish.

After the formal greetings, Li Si turned his head to signal, and understanding the signal, Murong nodded, came over and handed a briefcase to Li Si.

It was a long briefcase. When Li Si opened it, there was an exquisitely made classic longsword inside. The longsword was made of an alloy from Earth, with alternating gold and silver decorations, encrusted with crystal-clear diamonds, and thumb-sized gems embedded on both sides of the sword hilt.

For Li Si, the materials on the sword could all be sourced from Earth, some could even be processed by himself, so there was no so-called scarcity. Thanks to Earth’s industrial processing capabilities, this sword turned out to be incredibly stunning. The decorations on it were natural and flawless, with not a single defect.
