Chapter 454: Chapter 447: The Method of Awakening

A group of people hastily rushed down the road towards the village, with Tangmo and Nina carrying Luo’er at the front. At this moment, Luo’er looked horrendous with nearly half of his body covered in blood, especially his chest, which was a bloody mess, as if he had just been pulled from a blood pit.

Based on the amount of blood he was losing, if it weren’t for the so-called ’Tana’s summon’, he would have already been dead by now.

However, Luo’er’s condition now wasn’t much different from being dead, his body temperature had dropped to nearly corpselike level, his limbs were icy cold, only his internal organs still maintained some heat.

Fortunately, Luo’er hadn’t died but had fallen into a state of fake death. Consequently, in this condition, Luo’er didn’t show any signs of nudity and could be easily moved by them.

Such a skill might seem ridiculous, but it was undeniably life-saving at critical moments. But this skill requires conscious activation by the person themselves; it isn’t a passive skill. Therefore, when Luo’er was near death, it was Nina that activated his state of fake death.

Back in the days of warfare, when Nina faced off against Luo Chuan, she was shot in the shoulder by Luo Chuan’s bullet. However, because her injuries weren’t serious, Nina didn’t activate Tana’s summon. Now thinking back, had she activated it then, she might have barely missed Luo Chuan.

Tangmo, carrying Luo’er, turned her head to look at Nina. Covered in Luo’er’s blood, her mood was extremely low, and her eyes were lifeless. Understandably so, the first time meeting her only son was filled with life-and-death calamity that anyone would struggle to bear.

Whilst she wanted to ask Nina many things and had a lot of excessive requests to propose to her, now all was turned to naught. Tangmo thought, if Luo’er can’t survive, then she won’t survive either. This was the first time in her life that she met a man she truly liked. When he died, her heart would wither away as well.

Hu Daoke, carrying Baiyue on his back in the middle, was also burdened with various weapons. Baiyue, though seemingly having everything under control, was surprisingly weak and naive when faced with such life-and-death situations.

After all, she was still very young, just over twenty. Even though she looked similar in age to Luo’er, bear in mind that Luo’er, being a half-elf, was already over thirty years old. No one in the entire team was more mature than him.

Cheng Ziang walked last, carrying Luo’er’s rifle. In front of him was Luoya, the girl who killed his brother. All along, Cheng Ziang was silently observing the half-elf girl’s back.

Her clothing fit well, but had an indescribably awkward aspect. If Cheng Ziang was not mistaken, these clothes were probably Nina’s, worn by her without permission.

Luoya’s height and figure were similar to Nina’s, as if they were carved from the same mold. Luo’er inherited his black hair from his father, while Luoya simply inherited an eye, which was enough to demonstrate the dominance of the elf lineage.

But honestly speaking, Luo Chuan was indeed quite impressive. As an Earthling, being able to have a pair of children with an elf in succession was an astonishing achievement. So even if the Elven genes were dominant, it didn’t really matter.

In Luo Chuan’s era, throughout the Earth and the Otherworld during those few years, almost all offspring of mixed blood died young, none lived beyond three years old, many died during prenatal stage. This led everyone to believe that Earthlings and Otherworld people had reproductive isolation.

It wasn’t until the emergence of the Origin Project that the success rate of mixed blood increased to over ninety percent. Among this mixed population, the compatibility between the Elf Race and Earthlings was the lowest. It almost took the people of Haiya Academy twenty years and all races of Earthlings to cultivate fewer than ten people, which was already a remarkable achievement.

Perhaps, in the grand scheme of things, Luo Chuan and Nina were one of those pairings with the highest level of compatibility, which allowed them to have two children in just a few years.

If Luoya is indeed Luo Chuan’s daughter, then it can almost be established that she was probably born within a year of Luo Chuan’s return to Earth. That is, around 2027 to 2028, which means she would be around twenty-four to twenty-five today—older than most of the Advance Team.

Even so, despite her being older, it’s not visible from her appearance, just like it’s impossible to guess Nina’s age from her looks. Luoya inherited all of the Elf Race’s genes, so her appearance was younger than anyone on the Advance Team.

Of course, as a half-elf, it’s unfair to count her age in human years. Humans can only live just over a hundred years, while half-elves still look about the same when they reach a hundred and are still in their prime. If calculated by Elven standards, Luoya was much younger than them all.

Luoya possessed a unique wildness of the Ancient States, her temper was quite appalling, which was evident from her quarrels with Luo’er. She revered freedom, emphasized freedom, and rejected restraint. Compared with Luo’er who was accustomed to restraint, they were worlds apart.

Luo’er was unwilling to listen to his grandfather simply because he held a grudge against him. Imagine if it were Nina asking him to stay, he would definitely stick by Nina’s side without hesitation. Not like Luoya, running away secretly.

Finally, the group arrived at the outskirts of the village along the road, regretting bringing so many weapons that turned out to be completely useless and only required someone to carry them.

By this time, the elven maidens busy in the fields had finished their work and were ready to return home. Seeing Nina coming in covered in blood, carrying a man, they were somewhat afraid but still mustered the courage to approach. In Elvish, they asked with concern, "Nina, what happened to you, who is the man you are carrying?"

"That’s my son," Nina said, her expression downcast.

"Son? Nina, have you lost your mind? You have a daughter," the elven farmer woman lifted her gaze to Luoya, stunned.

"He is my son. We’ve been separated for more than twenty years, and I just found him today." At the thought of today’s events, Nina’s tears fell uncontrollably.

"Is he... dead?" The farmer woman asked with concern, her stare fixed on Luo’er.

"No, he was summoned by Tana," Nina replied.

"In that case, we must go to Ilanadale..." The farmer woman’s eyes reflected a sense of regret as she spoke.

"I know..." Nina murmured, biting her lip and lowering her head.

"Let me help you. This little girl is too short," said the farmer, putting down her hoe and goes over to help.

Unable to understand Elvish, Tangmo looked at the approaching tall woman, bewildered, and then towards Nina, "Auntie..."

"It’s okay, let her help," Nina said to her.

"Okay!" Although reluctant, Tangmo let the woman take Luo’er and politely picked up her hoe.

"Thank you, Xiya," Nina said gratefully.

"No more words, hurry and go!" Xiya said, looking down sadly, "I can’t help you with what’s to come."

Her words plunged Nina into melancholy as well. She was acutely aware of the difficulties of convincing the people of Ilanadale to save Luo’er. Even with her unique status among the elves, there were no guarantees of success.

They brought Luo’er home. Things were chaotic for a while as Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke bathed him, cleaned off all the blood, and changed him into new clothes. Baiyue, who had woken up, began bandaging his wounds.

Working till late in the night, they finally got everything in order, cared for Luo’er, and cleaned up the house as well.

Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke looked around at the place filled with women. According to Nina, the primary workforce in their village consisted almost entirely of female elves. The few men were all mixed-race descendants, the oldest being just ten years old and as adorable as Luo’er at that age.

Despite their gender, these elf women were not to be taken lightly. Many of these women were warriors who had participated in the Otherworld war years ago. They were experienced in battle and possessed formidable weapons, as evidenced by Luoya’s bow and arrows.

Thirty years ago, a single arrow from Nina’s bow pierced Luo Chuan’s bulletproof plate. Thirty years later, Luoya’s arrow similarly pierced Luo’er’s bulletproof plate. Over the years, while Earth’s protective abilities had greatly advanced, they still seemed laughable in front of the powerful armor-piercing projectiles wielded by the elves.

Indeed, Cheng Ziang began to suspect that if such arrows were converted into siege crossbow bolts, they could likely pierce even the most advanced Earth tanks.

With their sudden arrival, there weren’t enough beds in Nina’s house. Luckily, the advance team had brought sleeping bags. Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke set up theirs on the second floor balcony and settled there for the night.

Luo’er rested in Nina’s bed, with Nina staying right by his side. Seeing her mother’s sorrow, Luoya finally realized her mistakes and was consumed with remorse.

If she hadn’t insisted on joining Theron, if she hadn’t stolen her mother’s bow and arrows, if she hadn’t fired at Luo’er without any evidence, then things wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Once, under the starry sky, Nina had spoken to her about her absent brother. Luoya had fantasized about how he looked. But now, all the events had shattered her expectations instantaneously.
