Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 448 - 441: Otherworld Medicine

Chapter 448: Chapter 441: Otherworld Medicine

Following the Elf woman, the group arrived inside the village. They soon discovered that the villagers were primarily Elves and Half-elves. Several Half-elf children gazed wide-eyed at the group, unable to distinguish their genders, their appearances identical to full Elves.

If Luo’er had looked like this when he was small, then they could understand why he was so beloved at Haiya Academy during his childhood.

The children wide-eyed watched as the Advance Team entered the village. Perhaps out of fear, they scattered, retreating to their respective homes. The Elf women not working in the fields also took their children home and shut their doors.

Cheng Ziang noted that there were hardly any men in the village, mostly women, and mostly elves. But it was a working hour, so it was possible the men were all working in the fields.

They recalled stories they’d heard about the Elf race and Half-elves; Ilanadale was unwilling to accept half-elf progeny, so those elf women who refused to abandon their children could only live along the border of Ancient States and Ilanadale, never to cross the border.

From what they could tell now, those stories were not fabrications of wandering poets. These Elf women, unwilling to abandon their children, quietly settled at the border, just a step away from home, gazing forlornly at the jungles of Ilanadale.

If Luo’er’s mother had kept Luo’er in this otherworld years ago, chances were they would have had to live in a place like this.

Despite being located within the territory of Ancient States, the style of the entire village was akin to that of Ilanadale, reflecting the simplistic and ethereal characteristic of Elven architecture. Green vines blanketed the walls, flat stones paved the ground, and moss filled the gaps between the stones.

The biggest difference between Elven urban planning and that of the rest of the Otherworld was the strategy for green spaces - a concept the Elves share with Earthlings. Even though the village was small, the total green space covered nearly forty percent of the entire village area.

Flowering shrubs lined the roadsides and under the eaves; even in winter, these shrubs were stubbornly in bloom. Vines cloaked an old moss-covered well, and between the houses and roads, there were gutters made of blue stone slabs.

If not for the crude, simple clothes the villagers wore, the group from the Advance Team might have thought they had wandered into a village in Ilanadale.

"Come in!" The Elf woman pushed open a wooden door and beckoned for the team members to enter.

Despite the house’s simplicity, the lighting was rather good. Besides the smell of firewood, the air was also replete with the strong scent of herbs.

The woman led them into a partitioned area where there was a wooden bed, instructing Hu Daoke to lay Olavia on the bed. She then turned around to rummage through the shelves behind her. Apart from the bed, the most conspicuous was a person-high shelf filled with various bottles and jars.

Hu Daoke gently laid Olavia on the bed, carefully checking her condition. Olavia was still sweating, her lips turning black.

Tangmo put his equipment by the window and casually placed the 74U submachine gun in the corner before stepping up to check Olavia’s condition.

"What kind of snake bit her?" Not lifting her head, the woman asked while checking her vials and jars.

"I don’t know, she was suddenly bitten!" Hu Daoke answered, looking troubled.

"Alright, let me see what kind of medicine I have." The woman let out a sigh.

"Thank you, older sister." Hu Daoke could barely get the words out in gratitude.

At his words, the corners of the woman’s mouth lifted into a beautiful smile. Cheng Ziang noticed, despite rummaging through her bottles and jars, she often glanced over at the team members. He pondered what she might be contemplating.

"Are you all Theron?" The woman asked as she continued rummaging.

"Um..." Tangmo glanced at Cheng Ziang and quickly nodded, "Yes, we are!"

"Oh, I see!" The woman nodded, her hands never stopping searching.

"Sister Moumou, will Olavia be okay?" Hu Daoke looked at Tangmo, almost in tears.

"She’s temporarily stable for now. But unless we have anti-venom, I wouldn’t dare heal her leg wound." Tangmo replied, frowning.

"Just give her the shot!" Baiyue said, taking out the anti-venom serum again.

"Don’t be reckless, Yue’er. It’s dangerous to experiment with medical treatments. We could kill her!" Tangmo hastily waved his hands in refusal.

"But..." Baiyue continued, looking at the back of the woman with an untrusting gaze.

"Sister Moumou, better to trust in science than witch doctors!" Hu Daoke implored, his face etched in worry.

Their conversation was not quiet. However, since they spoke in Chinese, most people from this Otherworld could not understand Earth people’s language, so they should not be overheard.

However, Cheng Ziang noticed that the elf woman’s ears were twitching, and from time to time, she was looking back at them, making him wonder whether she understood them or not. He felt it was necessary to warn everyone not to speak in Chinese in such a situation.

"All of you, quiet down and avoid communicating in Chinese, we may raise suspicions!" Cheng Ziang coughed once and said seriously.

"Oh!" Upon hearing what he said, they all nodded and stopped speaking.

"Try this one!" The woman took a bottle from the shelf—a clay bottle with a unique design. It was long and wide at the bottom, but narrow in the middle, like a Chinese jadeware flask.

The woman went up to Olavia and examined her health. Cheng Ziang noticed that her diagnostic method was indeed similar to traditional Chinese medical techniques of inspection, auscultation, interrogation, and pulse-taking, except she was checking the chin instead of the wrist.

After the check-up, the woman uncorked the bottle and poured the liquid inside onto Olavia’s injured area over her legs.

It was a pale yellow, honey-like viscous fluid emitting a strong herbal odor. The moment the liquid touched her wound, Olavia shuddered slightly and screamed.

"What happened, Olavia? Does it hurt?" Hu Daoke hurriedly asked.

"No," Olavia shook her head and bit her lip. "It’s cold and a little bit stingy."

After pouring the fluid on the wound, the woman observed the surroundings. She spotted the open medical kit beside the bed and fluidly fetched some medical alcohol from it. She then opened the cap and poured some onto her fingers.

Then, she cleaned off the alcohol and started applying pressure to the wound in a clockwise motion. As she massaged, Olavia’s face turned pale and she moaned in pain.

"Hold her down!" The woman said calmly.

"Okay," Hu Daoke nodded, then placed his arm in front of Olavia and said, "Olavia, if it hurts, bite my hand. I can take the pain."

Standing at the door, Cheng Ziang was watching the elf woman with a firm gaze. Doubts over her identity began to arise in his mind—why would she, an elf, know so much about Earth things?

If it was due to the war held three decades ago, it wouldn’t make sense because not only their nation was sent to the Otherworld—they did not have a record of capturing any of the Elf Race. If they did, the breeding of half-elf at Haiya Academy wouldn’t have been so challenging.

One detail about the woman caught his attention—she knew to sterilize her fingers before massaging the wound, she even knew what materials could be used for sterilization. These were practices that only people on Earth would strictly follow. How could an elf woman know about all this?

Thinking of this, he instinctively stepped back, keeping a distance from the woman. This woman could potentially be Theron, in which case, they would need to capture her as quickly as possible, or it could bring immense trouble.

After about ten minutes of massaging, Olavia’s pained expression gradually relaxed and her breathing became much steadier. Apparently, she had been healed.

"It’s done," the woman stood up, placed the small bottle on the bed, and said to Hu Daoke, "Take this medicine with you and give her a little bit each day. The poison will be expelled in a few days."

"Thank you, sister!" Hu Daoke said gratefully.

"Olavia, are you okay?" Tangmo crouched beside her, touching her forehead and asking.

"Dear sister, I’m so relieved..." Ona was full of worry, yet finally burst out laughing.

"How is that even possible?" Baiyue frowned, picked up the bottle of medicine on the bed, smelled it after uncorking the bottle. Apparently, he couldn’t believe that Otherworld’s medicine could cure snake venom.

Everyone was rejoicing in the unexpected recovery of Olavia. They hardly noticed that the elf woman had quietly walked to the corner of the wall and picked up the 74U short assault rifle.

Tangmo noticed her actions and quickly turned around to say, "Sister, don’t touch it! It’s dangerous!"

On hearing her words, the woman turned around. With a light flick of her fingers, she switched off the safety catch on the rifle. She then pulled the trigger, and the bullet inside popped out immediately.

Just when the color drained from everyone’s faces, the woman suddenly took a few steps back. She held the 74U short assault rifle in her hand, pointed at everyone, and said coldly, "Nobody move! Hands up!"

"Sister, what are you doing?" Tangmo looked surprised when he saw the woman’s hostile action.

"I’ll say it again. Hands up!" The woman said coldly.

"Everyone relax and put your hands up!" This was Cheng Ziang’s voice. He could tell that the woman in front of them knew how to handle a gun—the way she turned off the safety and loaded the gun was fluent, suggesting that she had been in close contact with firearms for a long time.

At his indication, everyone reluctantly raised their hands.
