Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 407 - 400: Pursuit_1

Chapter 407: Chapter 400: Pursuit_1

Within the academy, hybrid elves enjoyed the status equivalent to that of celebrities, and Shangguan Jiu always lived amid praise and applause. the only reason Luo’er started to become less famous was Luo Qishan’s protection policy.

For Luo’er, Luo Qishan transferred all those who knew Luo’er from Haiya Academy to Shenghua Academy. He strictly forbade all academy staff from privately contacting Luo’er, allowing him some tranquility.

Luo Qishan never discriminated against Luo’er’s bloodline, seeing Luo’er as his only relative. Ever since his son Luo Chuan passed away, Luo Qishan’s actions became more and more extreme, fearing any hitch in the plan that would separate him from Luo’er.

Soon, Hu Daoke and his companions returned to the academy with the purchased bullets and Aruinte Cheng Ziang. Luo’er’s premonition was correct, for on the next day, news came from the Church Court indicating they had located Fu’en.

According to them, Fu’en and his group left through the downstream crossing of the Aobeni River and headed southeast. They had no horses and could only travel on foot, so their speed was not fast.

Luo’er always admired the Church Court’s information gathering abilities. The last time, they had directly planted a spy among Fu’en’s people. Although the spy was exposed later, he reported all of Fu’en’s information as it happened.

Therefore, Luo’er never questioned the information provided by the Church Court. According to Shariya, the Temple Knights already mobilized. If Luo’er requested, they could trail Fu’en and his people all the way until the Advance Team arrived to apprehend them.

Luo’er agreed to allow the Temple Knights to trail them, his goal remained unchanged; he wanted to kill Fu’en.

He knew headquarters wanted to capture Fu’en alive to obtain the method to unlock the Otherworld Gate. However, since headquarters was already cooperating with the Church Court, they could find a way to unlock the Otherworld Gate through the Church Court.

Moreover, considering his understanding of Fu’en, Fu’en was cunning and likely wouldn’t go quietly. If he ended up misleading headquarters to link with other worlds, it would be dangerous. Thus, the best method was to send him to meet the Goddess of Light.

"Everyone, check your weapons and gear and prepare to leave. Our target is Fu’en. Once we see him, you may freely open fire. I only have one request — we should see him alive or see his corpse!" Luo’er addressed the Advance Team members packing their stuff in the living room.

Because they needed to come back, they left most of their belongings in the dormitory, and travelled light. There wasn’t much to pack as they had only brought essentials when they first arrived.

"Are you leaving?" Truth stood by the door, anxiously holding onto the doorframe as she asked them.

"We’re just stepping out for a bit, we’ll be back. You stay in the academy, Daier will take good care of you. Once we return, we’ll take you back to Yazhi City." Luo’er reassured her.

"Okay, I understand. Be careful and come back!" Truth stared at them, her gaze filled with longing. Ever since she was taken in by Luo’er, she started to fear losing what she had regained and always worried that everything would vanish in an instant.

"Don’t worry, I’ve already entrusted Dean Shariya. If we don’t come back, he’ll take you back to Yazhi City." Luo’er declared.

"No," Truth shook her head resolutely and said, "I only want you. If none of you come back, then I’ll wait here until you do!"

Luo’er looked at her and remained silent for quite a while before breaking into a smile, saying, "Thank you for your blessing!"

"Luo’er, extend your arm. I’ll install the bulletproof panel for you!" Tangmo held a bulletproof panel in front of him and said with a poker face.

"Ok," Luo’er nodded and obediently extended his arms for her to install the bulletproof panel. Tangmo’s eyes unintentionally swept over Truth, and then she affectionately helped him install the bulletproof panel, seemingly trying to stake her claim with her actions.

Luo’er associating with so many girls, it would be impossible for her not to feel jealous. Although she knew not all of Luo’er’s feelings towards them were romantic, she still felt uncomfortable. This was probably the mentality of a young girl.

Once fully equipped, everyone gathered downstairs. Shariya wasn’t able to provide horses for everyone, so they had to use two horse-drawn carts for transportation instead. Luckily, the southeastern route from Holy Heart City was mostly plains, and thus the speed of the cart was acceptable.

Even though there were two carts, both of the squads had grown close so there was no more need to separate. Everyone could choose the cart they wished to ride in.

Xuzhong Qi and Wu Tairan wanted to chat with Hu Daoke, so the three of them quickly climbed onto one of the carts. After Luo’er boarded one of the carts, all three girls squeezed in, too. Only Cheng Ziang and Aruinte were thick-skinned enough not to mind third-wheeling, leaving everyone else to sit in Hu Daoke’s cart, resigned to the situation.

After the cart started moving, Hu Daoke began chatting non-stop. He recounted their previous battle at Lipei in a lively manner.

"Speaking of Lipei, it was raining bullets. I was weaving through the ruins and managed to avoid their rocket attacks several times. One missile flew right past my forehead—I could see the label clearly just by lifting my head, it was ..." Hu Daoke spoke enthusiastically, but was interrupted by Murong.

"RPG warheads have fins. If one got so close to you, it would’ve grazed your skin." Murong said, leaning against the side of the cart.

"Uh, more or less, it was very close!" Hu Daoke continued after a moment’s pause.

"Ah, Murong, don’t interrupt or nitpick. Really, why are you so obsessed with the details..." Wu Tairan turned his head and complained. They were already engrossed in the story and didn’t care about these trivial details.

"You guys..." Murong threw up his hands, surprised at how quickly his authority as captain had diminished. These two kids were completely captivated by Hu Daoke’s tales and had lost any sense of judgement.

But he wasn’t angry. When he was their captain before, he might have had the title, but the team was a mess. Zhuanzhu was odd, Shangguan Jiu was distant, Wu Tairan was a sycophant, Xuzhong Qi kept silent, and so forth. He couldn’t handle any of these issues.

Surprisingly, shortly after they joined the Advance Team, Zhuanzhu became less weird, Shangguan Jiu became close with Luo’er, Wu Tairan stopped being a sycophant, and Xuzhong Qi followed Hu Daoke around like an attendant.

It has to be said, the joint execution of the mission was very fruitful. Luo’er’s team gave Murong a lot of experience and inspiration, changing any prejudiced views he had of them beforehand.
