Chapter 391: Chapter 384: Door Knocking Tactics
On such issues, Luo’er has not clung to the dogma of past experiences but has fully exploited his subjective initiative, resolving problems through real-time analysis. Therefore, he believes that despite the difficulty of their situation, they can overcome it.
After a series of preparations, the group set off again. It was already the afternoon, Luo’er estimated that they should be able to initiate the mission by dusk and capture Fu’en before full darkness and load him onto the carriage.
Before the start of the operation, they all maintained a casual disguise to avoid drawing attention. On the way to Fu’en’s residence, Luo’er noticed a considerable number of hidden sentries. The closer they got to Fu’en’s dwelling, the more frequently the sentries appeared.
They tried their best to avoid these sentries along the way, and if they couldn’t, they arranged for their own hidden operatives to deal with them. Controlling the external intelligence network prevented Fu’en from becoming alert.
The sniper team had already arrived in a high-rise building according to the previous plan. This was a tower of a church, and the high-rise buildings in Otherworld are predominantly this type of tower. Overlooking from here, they could cover their entire operation area.
Baiyue was using a bolt-action sniper rifle, while Murong was using a modified 5.6mm precision shooter rifle. To ensure the success of the mission, they had both switched to special sniper rounds. These were engraved with Anti-Magic Glyphs that could effectively penetrate non-enhanced Rune Armor.
"Ah, Yue’er, it feels like we haven’t worked together in a while. When was the last time we teamed up?" Hu Daoke leaned against the stone railing, helping Baiyue load the bullets while he asked.
"Forgot!" Baiyue answered lightly. She wasn’t as cold towards Hu Daoke.
"I thought you were a support hand, not an observer." Murong looked him up and down before chiming in.
"You underestimate me," Hu Daoke pat his chest confidently, "I’ve always been versatile. What can’t I do? Later, our fights got so chaotic that we rarely stuck to our groups. I haven’t been in the sniper group for so long; Yue’er surely missed me."
"I did not, give me the magazine!" Baiyue gently punched him before snatching the magazine from his hand.
Watching the pair bicker, Murong couldn’t help but feel envious. He remembered Baiyue as being cold and aloof both at the academy and in the advance team. He even doubted whether the girl could laugh.
Who would have thought that the seemingly aloof Baiyue would get along so well with someone as casual and carefree as Hu Daoke. Murong felt a strange chill just standing next to her, let alone interacting with her.
"The sniper team is in position!" Tangmo, following closely behind Luo’er, glanced up at the tower before whispering to Luo’er.
"The sentries are taken care of, and the infiltrators have secured the perimeter," Xuzhong Qi muttered softly after surveying their surroundings.
"I see," Luo’er checked his pocket watch before raising his right hand and making a signal to the people around him, "In ten minutes, we move!"
They made their way through a narrow alley and arrived at a location by the city wall as instructed by Azita. They found the third house, at the entrance of which stood two men who looked like they belonged to the Hound Gang.
They stood there with their arms folded and no weapons in sight, but Luo’er noticed bulges under their armpits. He suspected that they must be carrying handguns.
"Moumou!" Luo’er, along with Xuzhong Qi and Wu Tairan, hid in the shadows of the alley before signaling at Tangmo.
"Understood!" Tangmo nodded in agreement after understanding Luo’er’s signal, then took a deep breath, emerged out of the shadows, and started walking towards the two men.
"Um, sir, could you please tell me where I am? I... I want to go home..." Tangmo stepped in front of the two and nervously asked them.
"Are you lost?" One of the men asked, furrowing his brows in suspicion.
"Yes, I... I want to go to the Magic Academy, but I don’t know how... It’s my first time here, and I got lost as soon as I arrived..." Tangmo widened her eyes, which were filled with innocence and vulnerability, invoking immediate sympathy in others.
"Are you a nobleman from here?" The other man leered at her outfit with lustful eyes, licking his lips before asking.
"I... I... I’m from Oudallo, I wanted to study at the Sacred Heart Magic Academy..." Tangmo immediately took a step back as she spoke, her terrified eyes darting between the two as she exclaimed, "What are you going to do?"
"Come, we’ll take you to the academy!" The two men exchanged a look before reaching out to grab Tangmo with giddy smiles.
Since she’s a noble from Oudallo, there is nothing to say. They certainly can’t let a plump sheep that willingly wanders into their grasp just walk away.
"Eek!" Tangmo cried out in surprise before spinning around and attempting to flee. The cobblestones in the alley were uneven, causing her to stumble. It looked as though she would be caught by the two men imminently.
At that moment, Luo’er suddenly burst from the shadows, hooking his arm around one of the men’s necks and dragged him into the darkness.
The man was not aware of what had happened. He just found it exceptionally difficult to breathe and instinctively resisted. Luo’er gripped his head and harshly slammed it against the stone wall.
With a dull thud, the man’s head brutally hit the wall. Even though there was no blood, he immediately passed out, his body becoming limp.
Luo’er dragged him and dumped him into a deserted corner. On the other side, Wu Tairan had also dealt with another person and threw him into the corner.
"Good job!" Luo’er nodded in appreciation.
It was the Murong Squad’s first time executing such a task, but their performance was quite commendable--there was none of the initial unfamiliarity the Advance Team had experienced when they first entered Otherworld.
"Hm!" Having been praised by Luo’er, Wu Tairan nodded excitedly.
"What about me?" Tangmo walked up to him, tilting her head in question.
"You were great too!" Luo’er patted her head with a smile.
Tangmo had always feigned weakness, which caused everyone to consider her a gullible weakling, conveniently forgetting that this girl was skilled in grappling and was a magic genius.
Having dealt with the guards at the door, Luo’er gestured the stealth group to guard it, then he led four others straight into the house.
The house was designed primarily for residential use, somewhat similar to an apartment. Entering into it led to a long corridor and numerous rooms.
Not many people were in the corridor. The wooden floor exuded a damp scent. The corridor was dimly lit, so as soon as they entered, Luo’er signaled everyone to be on guard.
There was no need for disguise here; everyone removed their cloaks and took out prepared weapons for vigilance.
"Second floor, stairs, fourth room..." Luo’er mumbled, leading the formation tactfully towards the second floor. Their guns were equipped with silencers to prevent the gunshot from alarming the target.
Inside, unless it was a special target, they could essentially kill anyone who appeared, fulfilling the operation without being discovered.
"Second floor, stay vigilant..." Luo’er gestured when they reached the fourth room on the second floor, speaking softly.
"Understood!" Wu Tairan and Xuzhong Qi nodded, immediately crouching down to guard their respective directions.
"Moumou, you’re up." Luo’er signaled.
"I got it!" Tangmo nodded, then approached the door.
Instead of immediately drawing glyphs, she pressed her ear against the wooden door to listen. After hearing faint conversations from inside, she nodded at Luo’er and started drawing glyphs on a sheet of paper on the door.
The glyph she drew on the door was an explosive glyph. After the glyph was drawn, she started embedding small magic crystals in the magic input slot of the glyph to activate it. Within the gap of the explosive glyph, she drew a passive glyph to activate the explosive glyph.
The exact activation process was to gently strike the passive glyph, that would immediately stimulate the magic in the magic crystal, then through the Delay Glyph, and finally reach the explosive glyph for detonation. During the explosion, the magic would simultaneously trigger the magic crystal embedded in the explosive glyph, enhancing the blasting power.
After finishing the explosive glyph, she immediately drew the Silence Rune on the wall. This glyph would prevent any sound from passing within a certain range but only lasted one second. When magic crystals were embedded, the silence could continue for a few more seconds.
The Silence Rune also needed passive and delay glyphs, but unlike the explosive glyph, the delay effect of the Silence Rune was shorter and would be thoroughly activated before the explosion. After the Silence Rune was activated, the explosive glyph would follow, completing the task of breaking down the door in absolute silence.
"Someone’s coming..." Suddenly, Wu Tairan, who was on guard, let out a soft gasp, instantly making everyone tense.
A man walked out of a nearby room. He stretched, yawned, and went back into his room without noticing the four people nearby, miraculously avoiding being shot by them.
After the false alarm, Tangmo remained unfazed and focused on drawing the glyphs. With the help of the paper and her hand-drawn glyph, she completed the activation of the glyphs and the embedding of the magic crystals in just three minutes.
When launching the attack, they would simultaneously activate the passive glyphs on the explosive and silence glyphs. Using different delay effects, the Silence Glyph would be activated first, followed by the explosive glyph, thus the door would be completely smashed in absolute silence.
More importantly, such operations do not require any atmospheric magic involvement, effectively minimizing magic disturbance. After all, the enemies they faced were Summoners, who are extremely sensitive to disturbances in magic.
