Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 364 - 357: Battle Plan
Chapter 364: Chapter 357: Battle Plan
Next, the advance team began to strategize around Fu’en. Only Yalunte and Cheng Ziang had made close contact with Fu’en before, so based on their descriptions, Baiyue painstakingly created a portrait of Fu’en for reference.
"According to the intelligence, Fu’en will arrive at the intersection outside the city to the east in two days. They should have a group of around twenty people, mainly composed of mages and some hired adventurers," Luo’er said, seriously tapping his finger on the table. "They will pass through the intersection in the east of the city. We must intercept them here, otherwise they will have the chance to escape into the city."
"Would it be troublesome if he escaped into the city?" Murong asked.
"Very troublesome," Luo’er nodded, then explained, "Firstly, the use of weapons is not allowed in the city. Without weapons, our strength will be significantly reduced against these mages. Plus, the city is not under our control, so we might face restrictions everywhere within it."
"What if we really can’t capture him, should we arrange for someone to kill him before he enters the city?" Murong suggested.
"Hmm..." Luo’er pondered for a moment, then said, "It’s best to capture him alive if possible and bring him back to the headquarters."
"So we have to find Fu’en among those twenty plus people, and then bring him back," Murong nodded, then voiced his concern, "None of these twenty plus people are easy to deal with, they’re either mercenaries or mages."
"Also," Luo’er continued, "We’ll be fighting outside the city, so we must always keep an eye on the city defense forces of Odelanqi. These people are not to be trifled with, their equipment has greatly advanced, and engaging them will greatly increase our pressure."
"Speaking of which, how does the headquarters always manage to track them?" Hu Daoke couldn’t help but ask.
"There should be an insider within their group," Cheng Ziang thought for a moment, then explained, "Whether it’s Earth or the Otherworld, there’s never a shortage of traitors."
"So, should we avoid hitting our allies when we’re in a firefight?" Hu Daoke asked Luo’er.
"No need, they aren’t our insiders. If the insider is smart, they should run away the moment the attack begins," Luo’er said.
With that, he looked at Murong and continued, "Murong, this is your first time executing a mission like this, let me remind you. Apart from Fu’en, you can open fire at any target, don’t show mercy. As long as Fu’en is unharmed, all the others can be eliminated!"
"I understand!" Murong nodded.
When facing the enemy, Luo’er always acted ruthlessly. Although the current advance team did their best to limit killing, they never showed mercy to their enemies.
Next, Luo’er asked Baiyue to put the map she had drawn on the table, then said, "If Fu’en is attacked, he likely has three escape routes: towards the city gate, downstream along the river, or turning back the way he came. Therefore, Ziang, Mr. Sword Saint, and Zhuanzhu, you three will lie in ambush in these three directions and capture him. As soon as you succeed, immediately notify everyone to retreat and leave with him. If he runs away, don’t rashly pursue, wait for all your teammates to arrive before launching an attack."
When making battle plans, Luo’er always tended towards caution. In his view, it doesn’t matter if the mission is completed, the key thing is that all team members must make it out unscathed.
"Wouldn’t that miss the opportunity?" Zhuanzhu asked with a blank expression.
"The enemy is a mage, and there are hired adventurers. Their strength must not be underestimated, carelessly launching an attack may put us at a disadvantage." Luo’er explained.
"How do you know we’ll definitely be at a disadvantage?" Zhuanzhu asked.
"Uh..." Faced with Zhuanzhu’s question, Luo’er was left speechless for a moment.
"Zhuanzhu, why don’t you make the battle plan, we’ll all listen to you!" Murong coldly said from the side.
Although Luo’er’s plan was indeed too conservative, he had his own considerations. Murong was very annoyed by Zhuanzhu’s self-righteous attitude, always thinking that he is invincible and as long as he makes a move, success is guaranteed. It’s Luo’er’s team that has been executing operations in the Otherworld for a year, not their team.
After being reprimanded by Murong, although Zhuanzhu felt aggrieved, he still obediently kept his mouth shut. Murong breathed a sigh of relief, then said to Luo’er, "Carry on, don’t mind him. Arrange it as you see fit!"
"Alright," Luo’er nodded, his composure undisturbed by Zhuanzhu’s attitude, "Ziang will lay an ambush in the direction of the city gate, Mr. Sword Saint will lay an ambush in the direction they’re coming from, and Zhuanzhu will ambush alongside the river. Remember, it doesn’t matter whether you succeed or not, but you must report the situation, so that the team can adjust their attack direction."
"Understood!" Cheng Ziang nodded, his face looking rather grim, clearly upset by Zhuanzhu.
"Then, Yue’er, Murong, both of you find a high point nearby and set up your weapons for support," Luo’er continued, "Murong, you’re a top-class sniper. Your task is to provide sniper support for the ground combat group. Yue’er, you’re a sniper, your task is to do everything possible to intercept Fu’en. After thinking about it, if they’re running downstream along the river, or turning back the way they came, let them go. But if they managed to break through Ziang’s defense at the city gate, kill him before he enters the city!"
"Understood!" Baiyue responded coldly.
"The other four people, Little Ke, Wu Tairan, and Xuzhong Qi, along with me. We four will be the main assault force in this operation," Luo’er said.
"Leave it to me!" Hu Daoke confidently patted his chest.
"What about us?" Shangguan Jiu pointed at himself and then at Tangmo and asked.
"You guys will provide the main magic support for the team. If they are ambushed, they will definitely use the physical defense shield. You will take the opportunity to attack with magic, forcing them to change the nature of the shield and disrupt their defense," Luo’er said.
"I understand!" Shangguan Jiu nodded vigorously, looking very eager.
"Remember, this place is not like Earth. There is no radio communication here. So, once the battle starts, you must learn to adjust according to actual conditions within the existing plan to ensure the task can be completed. In this kind of battle, being in sync with one another is very important."
Once the Murong squad joined the Advance Team, they were immediately sent on a mission, with no time for teambuilding. This was why Luo’er’s battle plan was so cautious.
A five-man squad might have difficulty stopping these people, but they had good synergy, so Luo’er could execute a bolder plan, such as setting up an ambush directly in the city.
"Given the subtlety of this mission, all main attackers will install silencers to give us more time in our operations," paused Luo’er before continuing, "Once the operation begins, the city defense forces of Holy Heart City will definitely strike. From their deployment to interference, the time will not exceed ten minutes. We therefore have less than a ten-minute window to intercept. Everyone must be alert, aiming to resolve the battle within ten minutes. If we exceed ten minutes, no matter the situation, we must retreat!"
"Understood!" everyone said in unison.
"Damn it!" As soon as he left the meeting room, Cheng Ziang heard Hu Daoke’s grumbling. His voice was low, so only Cheng Ziang could hear it.
"What the hell is this!" Hu Daoke stopped to wait for Cheng Ziang to catch up, then he turned back to look at the room and muttered under his breath.
"Luo’er didn’t get angry at all!" Cheng Ziang said with a faint smile.
"The boss is just considering Murong’s feelings. He doesn’t want any trouble at this critical moment!" Although Hu Daoke was a bit dull, there were some things he could see very clearly.
"You’re aware of it, that’s good," Cheng Ziang patted his shoulder and then comforted him, "Luo’er doesn’t want to cause trouble at this critical moment, so you need to control your temper and not make a mess of this."
"I’m really pissed off. When we finish the mission and return to the headquarters, I’ll make sure the instructor sends Zhuanzhu back to Earth!" Hu Daoke said, still seething with rage.
Cheng Ziang looked back and then couldn’t help sighing: "Actually, with Zhuanzhu’s blunder, it’s Murong who feels embarrassed. He thinks he’s defending Murong’s interests but doesn’t realize that he’s constantly causing him trouble."
"You seem to understand Murong pretty well?" Hu Daoke looked at him and asked.
"Murong is actually quite good. At the very least, he’s humble and understands that he’s not as good as Luo’er right now," Cheng Ziang explained, "Luo’er has been commanding the Advance Team since we entered the Otherworld. His plans are conservative, but practical, and have been tested in real battles. Perhaps Murong could come up with better plans, but he is not familiar with the Otherworld, so it’s mostly armchair strategizing."
"Old Cheng, it seems like ever since they joined the Advance Team, you’ve been talking less," Hu Daoke put his arm around his shoulder and asked with a smile.
"Aren’t you the one who’s talking a lot more? You’ve taken all my lines, what am I supposed to say?" Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes at him and then shook his head.
"I’m just livening up the team atmosphere!" Hu Daoke explained.
"You’re just showing off your existence as a veteran team member. Don’t think I can’t see it." Cheng Ziang laughed and shook his head. He only showed his smile when they were in private.
After the plan was deployed, the next step was to wait for Fu’en and his team to come to them, and then to foster the level of understanding within the team. This was something hard to cultivate, so they could only resort to learning simple whistle signals as a substitute for the lack of radio communication.
This was the most common method used by the Advance Team after entering the Otherworld. Once they were in sync, a single whistle could convey various meanings.
