Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 342 - 335: Genetic Weapon

Chapter 342: Chapter 335: Genetic Weapon

"So, this isn’t a coincidence at all. There must be someone doing this on purpose." Li Si exclaimed, opening his eyes wide.

With a stern face, Wang Xu looked down in contemplation, then said, "If I’m not mistaken, there must be a mole among us, just like when the Advance Team first entered the Otherworld last year. There are not many organizations or individuals who would know our plans and could also manipulate the power of the Otherworld. It seems it’s our old friend’s doing again."

Shenghua Academy is one of the two academies established by the Origin Project and is considered a backup to Haiya Academy. If Haiya Academy leaks information, the entire focus of research and development will shift to Shenghua Academy.

In the initial plan, Shenghua Academy had always been secondary. Although it would also participate in breeding and training the sub-human race, the primary centers of Otherworld-related research were established at Haiya Academy.

With the Origin Project drawing to a close, Shenghua Academy was about to have its brief shining moment. Haiya Academy would then make corresponding adjustments for the Mingming Plan. The research center of Haiya Academy and the subhuman race would all be transferred to Shenghua Academy. Shenghua Academy would complete the final phase of the Origin Project, then enter into the Mingming Plan.

But if Haiya Academy were already hidden deeply, then Shenghua Academy was virtually invisible. The academy was located in the center of the country, area being cordoned off round the clock by the Army and Air Force. Even a fly would have trouble getting in. Now that it was to become the target of the Otherworld Gate, Wang Xu could only suspect the existence of a mole.

"But what I don’t understand is, this area is heavily-guarded, the defense troops are always on high alert. Isn’t sending these people equivalent to sending them to their deaths? What then is the meaning of doing so, a deadly one-for-one exchange?" Li Si was deep in thought, puzzled.

"I don’t think those folks in Shenghua Academy are planning to send these soldiers to their deaths. Clearly, they must have their own plan." Wang Xu pondered.

"But the Otherworld Gate is now tightly guarded by the Church Court. It won’t be easy to deliver the intelligence." Li Si said, worried.

"I know, send additional people, make sure the message is delivered. As long as the intelligence reaches Earth, Shenghua Academy can enter a state of war as quickly as possible." Wang Xu said.

"Boss, I had a thought, I’m not sure whether it’s appropriate to bring it up." Li Si hesitated.

"Stop beating around the bush, just spit it out!" Wang Xu chided, furrowing his brow.

"Should I... make contact with the Church Court?" Li Si asked tentatively.

"Contact with the Church Court?" Wang Xu momentarily didn’t understand his meaning.

Li Si looked around, then stepped closer and whispered, "The Church Court is isolated and helpless now, they have practically offended the entire Western world. Although America, UK, France haven’t lost a single man, they obviously don’t want to deal with the Church Court and seem to be intending to isolate them. This is the perfect window for us to engage with the Church Court. Right now, they should be in a bit of a panic. After all, no mere organization can offend the entire Earth."

"Are you sure they would be willing to engage with us?" Wang Xu queried, brow furrowed.

"I’m only guessing," Li Si said, "If I were the Pope, I would certainly be looking for potential allies. Don’t forget, the Church Court’s position of power isn’t secure, as we’ve seen from the incident. When the Church Court called for Otherworld countries to resist the invasion of Earth’s armies, no one heeded their call. Clearly, with Earth’s increasing influence, the hold of the Church Court over these countries has been waning. Their Pope should be desperate to consolidate the Church Court’s control."

"So you think they would choose to engage with us?" Wang Xu asked again, brow furrowed.

Li Si sighed and said, "Earth has many countries, but only five with substantial influence. And these five belong to two camps. If the Church Court has offended one camp, wouldn’t their next task be to align with the other?"

Wang Xu lowered his head, considering Li Si’s suggestion.

"I don’t think everyone in the Church Court is ignorant. Their conservative rejection of Earth’s technology is merely to maintain their own power. Now that Earth’s power is quickly surpassing their influence, they surely must realize their situation." Li Si explained.

"Even the corrupt and conservative Qing Dynasty knew how to modernize the country after foreign invasions. The Church Court, being a ruling group that has existed for thousands of years, shouldn’t be ignorant of this." Li Si continued.

"Makes sense. There is no time to delay now due to the current situation. Li Si, immediately make contact with them and see if we can find common ground." Wang Xu raised his head and commanded Li Si.

"Understood, I’ll go right away!" Li Si nodded, then contentedly left the office.

Watching Li Si leave the office, Wang Xu walked over to the map, looking up at the map of the Otherworld continent. Since the Advance Team’s entry into the Otherworld, the headquarters’ operations had always been smooth. The anti-cooperation faction in Ronisca had been suppressed, and they ultimately retained the northeastern region of the continent, a technological powerhouse.

In Masya, they had already found Melia as a point of entry and had prepared to establish Masya’s power base. Now, in the whole northern part of the continent, Odelanqi was the only place where they had not found a point of entry.

The king of Odelanqi, Gudelv, has recently been stirring up trouble. Clearly, he doesn’t intend to become a puppet in the power game of the Earth’s people, and is actively trying to assert his presence. As for Odelanqi, while the headquarters has a fallback plan for it, they have yet to find means of directly interfering with them.

Now, after being reminded by Li Si, Wang Xu realized the power of the Church Court. The Court’s influence has always stretched from the northern parts of the continent all the way to the central part, making it one of the most powerful forces.

The Church Court has always maintained a conservative and closed policy, refusing any contact with Earth’s powers. Multiple attempts by Earth’s powers to make contact have all ended in failure. With the forbidden curse taking more than a hundred thousand lives, the Church Court instantly became the enemy of many countries on Earth and this watertight organization was finally beginning to falter.

From the arms smuggling case to the dispatch of troops to aid Masya. Various intelligence indicated that Odelanqi, the largest nation of the Aud people, was gradually breaking away from the control of the Church Court. Wang Xu believed that there were people from Earth backing Odelanqi, however, from the standpoint of headquarters, they didn’t want Odelanqi to break away from the control of the Church Court.

Currently, they had no foothold in Odelanqi and under the leadership of Gudelv, Odelanqi was like a ferocious dog. Before they could get a leash around its neck, Wang Xu didn’t want the Church Court to let go of their leading rope, because that would cause Odelanqi to become like a rabid dog. If the Church Court couldn’t control it, the headquarters also wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Wang Xu stared at the map in thought, when suddenly, a lightbulb went off in his head. For Shenghua Academy, the appearance of the Otherworld Gate might not be a bad thing. If possible, they could treat it as their second portal, one that belongs solely to them. In that case, they wouldn’t have to rely on Australia’s Otherworld Gate. They could go directly from their home country to the Otherworld.

With this in mind, Wang Xu quickly headed to the room where Nightingale was staying. He needed to tell the Advance Team that if possible, they should avoid damaging the Otherworld Gate and monitor the situation instead.

On the other hand, Cheng Ziang and Yalunte cautiously guided Luo’er and his party through the city area to arrive under the Magic Array. Along the way, Luo’er shared with Cheng Ziang the information that Tangmo and others had gathered, which made him a bit nervous as well.

"The Magic Array is on the city wall, you just need to climb up there. There are no soldiers guarding this route. Also," Cheng Ziang said and then seemed to remember something. He took out a piece of paper and handed it to Luo’er. "Could you ask Yue’er to take a look at this and tell us what the English words mean?"

"English?" Luo’er was taken aback. Why was there English in Lipei City?

"Yes, these people seem to have some things from Earth. My master found it, a bunch of crates, with biohazard symbols on them," said Cheng Ziang.

"Yue’er, take a look!" Luo’er said, passing the paper to Baiyue.

Baiyue took the paper, looked at it, and her face turned pale. She looked up at Luo’er and asked, "Are you sure you didn’t write the words wrong?"

"No, what’s wrong?" Cheng Ziang was startled by her reaction.

"This word, genetic weapon, means genetic weaponry!" Baiyue said, her face as white as a sheet.

"What, genetic weaponry?" Upon hearing this, Luo’er couldn’t help but exclaim.

Genetic weaponry is a new concept weapon on Earth, but has already been used in recent regional conflicts. This type of weapon only targets specific individuals, can distinguish between friend and foe, and its power can even wipe out an entire race.

"And..." Baiyue said, panting as she continued to read the words on the paper, "This word is... influenza virus..."

Luo’er seized Cheng Ziang and asked worriedly, "Have they already started using these weapons?"

"Yes, they have. They distributed these things to the soldiers below for consumption, claiming it would help resist the environment of Earth," Yalunte said from one side. He didn’t understand why Luo’er and the others were so anxious.

"Shit!" Luo’er rarely swore. If this was really a genetic weapon, then it could prove that the invasion of Earth was just a diversion. The real intention of those behind the scenes was to spread genetic weapons through these Otherworld soldiers, weakening the strength of nations from within.

The target location of the Otherworld Gate was Chuan Zhong, and the invading Otherworld soldiers were all carrying genetic weapons, so naturally, it was clear who their target was. Because genetic weapons only attack specific races, they were completely ineffective against these Otherworld soldiers.

Luo’er couldn’t be bothered with finding out who was behind all this anymore. The only thing he knew was that under no circumstances could they allow the Otherworld Gate to open; otherwise, the consequences would be dire.
