Chapter 319 - 312: Radiant Singularity

Chapter 319: Chapter 312: Radiant Singularity

Falok spread his arms wide, chanting spells aloud, guiding magic to gather at the wound of the gorge. In his efforts, a massive amount of magic was converging above the gorge to such a high concentration that its radiance was visible.

Entering the gorge, Earth’s soldiers began to feel a serious discomfort, and they all noticed the invisible, yet luminous transparent sphere in the sky. No one knew what it actually was.

Falok continued to recite his spell, his veins bulging due to the surge of magic rushing in and being released. His skin began to crack and blood slowly seeped out.

His face was distorted, and blood leaked from his nose, the corners of his eyes, and his ears. But as soon as the blood coalesced into droplets, they were swept away by the tornado around him and spun in a circle.

Falok’s body was flushed red, his face straining with bulging veins as he swung his magic wand with difficulty. Blood spurted from the corners of his eyes.

Finally, he could no longer hold on. Following a severe bout of coughing, a mouthful of fresh blood spurted out. The magic wand he was swinging forcefully hit the ground. The tornado in the sky gradually dispersed, while the gathering magic above the gorge started to fall slowly towards the bottom of the gorge with the fall of his wand.

Like a massive bubble, this cluster of magic floating in the air descended slowly. The Earth soldiers stared blankly as it descended. The magic occasionally emitted dazzling light due to the friction caused by the magic molecules rubbing against each other.

Watching the massive magic cluster slowly descend, one of the Earth soldiers extended a hand and gently touched it.

Like a burst bubble, this soldier had opened a Pandora’s box of magic. The boundary holding the magical cluster was shattered instantaneously. Following this, there was a light more dazzling than the sun, an explosion at the heart of the gorge, enveloping the entire gorge in a blinding sphere of light.

Then, a shockwave spread out immediately causing dust to rise from the ground, followed by a deafening explosion.

"Boom!!!!!"

With the deafening sound, the ground began to shake. The powerful shockwave flattened everything around and stirred up the dust. The marching Earth forces fell to the ground like wheat in a storm, then were violently uprooted and flung into the sky.

Inside the First Line Gorge, at the center of the explosion, the powerful shockwave leveled the surrounding peaks instantly. Accompanied by the brilliant light was a temperature higher than the sun’s surface, a result of the magic vigorously moving about in the air.

The gorge of First Line limited the radius of the explosion but intensified the power at the two exits. The mighty shockwave, like an artillery shell, sent everything high up along its path, scattering in all directions. The Earth’s proud artillery stood no chance against the shockwave, they were crushed easily and thrown into the sky like plastic toys.

This explosion lasted a full ten seconds before the enormous energy was fully released, letting rise a mushroom cloud, a sight both familiar and fearful to the Earth people. There were no screams on the ground as they had lost their lives instantly in the explosion.

The projecting force of the explosion bulldozed everything in its path on the ground. Only when it reached the outskirts of Yazhi City did this powerful shockwave lose its destructive ability, but it still gave those who experienced it a frisson of fear.

Witnessing the mushroom cloud that erupted from the direction of First Line Gorge, the generals at the Command Department realized the severity of the situation. They planned to send a reconnaissance team to First Line Gorge to investigate, but severe physical discomfort hindered the soldiers. This discomfort was due to the disturbance of the magical power. Although they had taken suppressive drugs, this kind of magical disturbance could still cause permanent irreversible damage to their bodies.

Five minutes after the explosion, the command department issued the final order: all Earth forces are to evacuate Yazhi city and return to Ulysses City for recuperation and treatment. As for the vanguard soldiers, the command department had placed orders with the Blaiqi traders in Yazhi city. They were instructed to retrieve Earth soldiers at all costs, dead or alive, offering one automatic rifle per person.

With the withdrawal of the multinational forces and the advance of the Blaiqi traders, the situation became chaotic. This explosion injured all Earth people on site to varying degrees, so they had to evacuate and return to Earth. Also, they feared being on the receiving end of a second devastating blow and hence did not dispatch their reserve force for the rescue operation, instead entrusting the job to the Blaiqi people.

The order from the joint command made Yazhi city become active instantly. Ignoring the ongoing war, they went out to fetch the Earth soldiers, bring them back to the Otherworld gate, seize their weapons, and then exchange the bodies for a wealth. This attracted many people, not just the Blaiqi people.

Unlike the people of Earth, they didn’t have to worry about being harmed by the magical disturbance. To them, this kind of fluctuation was a common occurrence, its power not even reaching the level of a second-tier magic spell.

At the time of the explosion, the entire headquarters was involved. Fortunately, the manor where they were stationed was shielded from most of the magical shockwave due to the hillock behind it.

Despite this, many people showed severe signs of magic power erosion. Wang Xu collapsed on his desk panting for a long time, his intense headache easing under the effect of painkillers. Li Si was lying on the sofa, gasping for air. The disturbance of the magic power had caused him difficulty in breathing. If he hadn’t been breathing heavily, he might have fainted by now due to lack of oxygen.

"Are you ok, boss?" Li Si asked, struggling to sit up from the sofa, his face flushed as he pounded his chest a few times.

"I’m fine, I pulled through. And you, do you need to see a doctor?" Wang Xu lifted his head, smacked his forehead forcefully, and asked.

"I’m okay, my breathing is starting to normalize..." Li Si coughed violently a few times, then said.

The office door was suddenly pushed open. Several lightly affected employees rushed in urgently and asked with concern, "Are you all okay?"

"Where’s the doctor?" Wang Xu asked, holding his head.

"All the doctors are down..." A staff member answered faintly.

"Damn it, send the severely injured back to Earth while those unscathed need to stay behind!" Wang Xu couldn’t help but curse out loud.

Then, a woman dressed entirely in black from the Otherworld elegantly walked in through the door. She looked to be in her thirties or forties, with a gentle and exquisite beauty that hinted at exotic features. She had a unique temperament that radiated an aura of invulnerability.

Her appearance and attire were typical of Otherworld denizens, but the gold-rimmed glasses on her nose created a significant disconnect with her overall aura.

"Nightingale, what exactly happened?" Seeing the woman, Wang Xu did not hesitate but asked directly.

The woman had no name, just a code name. Rumor has it that she hailed from the Ancient States in the south, seeking the secrets of Northern magic. She spent most of her time in the library within the Headquarters, reading texts about Northern magic and rarely interacted with others. Half the staff wasn’t even aware of her existence.

Nightingale was the main contact for the magic messenger of the advance team, the magic messenger on Tangmo’s hand was directly connected with her. She was a highly skilled and learned woman who had a command over various Northern Tasta dialects, Elvish, Dwarven, and even some Beastman languages.

In addition to Otherworld languages, she had also learned Chinese, English, French, and Russian, hence Wang Xu did not have to speak in the Tasta language when conversing with her.

"Someone in the vicinity has used a Forbidden Curse magic, presumably!" Nightingale answered indifferently.

"Forbidden Curse magic?" Hearing her words, everyone present began to look serious.

"Judging by the intensity, it should be a Forbidden Curse-level magic released through the sacrifice of life. Under such a powerful spell, even the caster would not survive," Nightingale continued with the same level of stoicism.

"First Line Gorge!" Li Si exclaimed.

"Forbidden Curse magic..." Wang Xu immediately recalled the warning from Luo and his team. As expected, their information was correct. Someone did plan to ambush the Earth’s army in the First Line Gorge, and they succeeded.

How could Earthlings, who struggled to adapt to magic, possibly survive such a powerfully destructive spell that even claimed the life of the caster?

"The intensity of the magic fluctuation is between a level one and a level two spell. Anyone who can’t bear it should be sent back to Earth immediately." Nightingale surveyed the room, then stated coldly.

"Nightingale," Wang Xu massaged his temples, then looked at her and asked, "Do you know what type of Forbidden Curse magic it was?"

Hearing his question, Nightingale fell into deep thought. After a while, she crinkled her brows and murmured, "Coalesce, then disperse... Forbidden Curse... high-level magic used for targeted destruction..."

Suddenly, an idea struck her, she turned to Wang Xu and replied icily, "Radiant Singularity, a high-level Forbidden Curse spell from the Church of Light!"

"A spell from the Church... Are you sure?" Wang Xu asked in disbelief.

"Yes," Nightingale nodded and replied confidently, "The condensing of magic power and then spreading it out generates effects on par with the nuclear fission on Earth. The collision and friction of magic particles at high velocity produce light and heat. If it were the use of any other magic, the magic energy around this area would have been absorbed, resulting in a barren state. However, the area’s magic power evidently has grown more abundant than before, undeniably indicating the use of that kind of Forbidden Curse-level magic which concentrates and then releases magic power."

"In that case, the hundreds of thousands of Earth soldiers at the First Line Gorge will not survive for long. In other words..." Li Si started, then turned to Wang Xu and said blankly, "Luo and the others were right. The Church, they... they’ve killed hundreds of thousands of Earthlings!"
