Chapter 309 - 302: The Dangerous Her

Chapter 309: Chapter 302: The Dangerous Her

Not long after, Hu Daoke came riding back on a horse. When he dismounted, he was still huffing and puffing, having clearly just given chase with all his might.

"I only caught one. Those horses went crazy and were running all over the place!" Hu Daoke said after catching his breath.

Cheng Ziang nodded, then fell into deep thought. Their current mission was to somehow relay the information about the Church Court’s planned attack on the Earth’s forces. However, an unexpected incident had occurred. Tangmo, the only communication officer in their team, had betrayed them. On top of that, Yalunte had lost contact with headquarters. This was a terrible situation for them.

Although getting Tangmo back and dealing with his mental issues was important, what was more pressing was to figure out how to get the information out.

Waiting for Tangmo to recover and then have her send the information was too slow. They had no idea when she would recover, while the Earth’s forces moving in was an imminent matter that could not be delayed.

Considering this, Cheng Ziang steadied himself, already having some ideas in mind.

"Old Hu, I have a mission for you. You need to ride your horse and rush to Princess Melia’s camp as fast as possible. Inform the military officers there and come back. Let them figure out how to relay the information!" Cheng Ziang instructed Hu Daoke.

"You want me to go?" Hu Daoke pointed at himself, asking with a hint of uncertainty.

"Yes, you need to go, and remember, you must be quick!" Cheng Ziang said in an affirming tone.

"Leave it to me!" Hu Daoke slapped his chest, as if returning to the state when he was appointed as the main attacker by Luo’er in the previous competition. The feeling of being needed by others was quite satisfying.

"But what about Sister Moumou..." then, he expressed his worry with concern.

"Don’t worry. Moumou is not only your sister but also our comrade. We won’t harm her unless it’s truly necessary," Cheng Ziang assured him.

"If it helps to save...everyone, feel free to...use extreme measures if needed," he hesitated a moment, then said reluctant words.

"Be careful on the road. We will wait for you at the designated rendezvous point. If we haven’t arrived by the time you’re back, wait for us!" Cheng Ziang patted his shoulder, speaking very seriously.

"You seem much more serious!" Hu Daoke slapped his shoulder in return, joking before mounting his horse.

"As if I’m not usually serious!" Cheng Ziang gave him a look. Even in such a tense situation, he still found room for humor.

"And you, Feliz," Cheng Ziang suddenly thought of something, so he turned his head to look at Feliz and asked, "What do you plan to do? Stay with us, or go with him and let him take you back to Odelanqi?"

"I..." Feliz glanced at Hu Daoke, hesitated for a moment, and then answered, "I’ll stay with you guys!"

There were many reasons why she chose to stay. It wasn’t that she simply distrusted Hu Daoke.

Feliz is currently being hunted down by her teachers at the academy, and she can’t return to Odelanqi right now. Despite Cheng Ziang’s assurances that she was not involved, she felt guilty about Luo’er’s predicament. So, bearing a sense of guilt for Luo’er’s situation, Feliz decided to stay and see if she could help.

"Alright then," Cheng Ziang didn’t force her, just nodded and then turned to Hu Daoke jokingly, "Look, you’ve been rejected!"

"What nonsense! Clearly you were trying to get rid of her!" Hu Daoke retorted and rode off. They both liked to play harmless jokes like this, so he didn’t take it personally.

"I wasn’t rejecting him!" Seeing Hu Daoke’s retreating figure, Feliz anxiously defended herself.

"It’s just a joke, don’t take it seriously. Let’s pack up and follow Yalunte!" Cheng Ziang waved his hand, indicating that she shouldn’t worry about it.

"Oh!" Feliz nodded blankly, still a bit confused at the moment.

"Can you walk? We will have to go on foot!" Cheng Ziang suddenly thought about Feliz’s nobility status and asked with some concern.

"No, it’s fine!" Feliz lowered her head and thought for a moment, then answered with a determined look.

Cheng Ziang appraised her from head to toe. Feliz’s clothes were ragged and torn, her outermost cloak was beyond repair. After a pause, he said to Baiyue, "Yue’er, get her some clean clothes for her to change into!"

"Understood!" Baiyue nodded, taking out a stack of neatly folded clothes from her backpack and handing them over to Feliz. Thankfully, they had left their luggage on the ground instead of putting it on the horses. Otherwise, after all the commotion, they might have lost all their supplies.

"Thank you!" Feliz gratefully accepted the clothes. Despite interacting with a stranger, Baiyue still showed her standoffish attitude, ducking her head as if indifferent, not even making eye contact with Feliz.

Returning to Luo’er, he was bound and placed on a horse, led away by Tangmo. He dared not struggle, knowing that any drastic movement would catch Tangmo’s attention before he could free himself.

The Tangmo he was dealing with now was not the same person as before. Luo’er thought if he angered her, she would definitely kill him in a heartbeat. The blood on his neck was proof enough of this.

Instead of struggling and getting killed, Luo’er felt it would be better to play along and not resist, waiting to see how Tangmo intended to handle things in the future. He could tell that she still had feelings for him. If not, she would have plunged her knife into his neck earlier on.

After what felt like a long ride, Luo’er noticed that it was starting to get dark. Finally, Tangmo halted, dismounted and gestured for him to do the same with her dagger.

Once he was off the horse, Tangmo drove the horse away to prevent anyone from following them. She then led Luo’er to a cave in a nearby hill.

The cave, not more than five meters deep, was an ideal shelter against the wind and rain. Tangmo drove Luo’er into it, then she started to tie his hands behind his back again, ensuring he didn’t get a chance to break free.

"Your thumb is already turning red. If I kept binding it, it would end up useless." Tangmo said in a gloomy tone as she was tying him.

"Why don’t you just let me go then?" Luo’er tried to persuade her.

Tangmo looked up and sneered, whispering in his ear, "I will release you when I’ve cut off your hands and feet, and you can’t go anywhere. Then you’ll never leave me."

"Would you really do that?" Even confronted with her deranged implications, he tried to keep his cool and asked fearfully.

"Of course. Do you think I’m that useless Moumou? To me, I don’t care how I keep you by my side, whether you’re dead or alive," Tangmo stated, letting out a sickly giggle before continuing in a soft whisper, "Don’t worry, I won’t waste your severed limbs. I’ll eat them all clean. Then, you can be part of me in a different way."

After hearing her words, Luo’er didn’t dare to speak again. He realized that the devil had already consumed Tangmo’s mind. Her obsessive desires had completely taken over her already scarce consciousness.

For the first time, Luo’er understood how scary it was to be adored by a psychopath. She wanted to possess him, without regard to whether he was dead or alive. She would mercilessly kill anyone who attempted to approach him, be it a man or a woman. Any form of physical contact between him and anyone else would be seen as a challenge to her. She would use any means to kill the challenger and maintain her status.

The incidents involving Princess Melia and Feliz were perfect examples. Granted, he did admit his feelings for Princess Melia were genuine, which he did feel guilty about. Nevertheless, it did not give Tangmo any justification for her unwarranted attack on the Princess.

It was important to remember that Tangmo was an adult who was liable for her own actions. Reacting on pure selfish whim was unacceptable. He couldn’t imagine what could have happened, if Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke had not arrived in time.

After Tangmo had finished tying Luo’er’s hands behind his back, she cut off the nylon zip tie on his thumb. His thumb was so numb from the constraints that he could barely feel it.

"Why aren’t you saying anything?" After securing the ropes, Tangmo went over to him, looked at his face, and tilted her head as she asked.

"Since you’re not Moumou, I don’t think there’s anything to talk about," Luo’er calmly replied.

"You can have Moumou if you want!" Tangmo chuckled, cradling Luo’er’s face in her hands and gazed at him, "Once you’re completely mine, I can share you with Moumou. We both share the same body, so I can let her have you too!"

"If Moumou knew that I was handicapped, she would be devastated," not daring to meet her gaze, he turned his face away as he spoke.

"Even so, her tears won’t change the fact that you’re crippled. Once she gets used to your new reality, she should be able to accept you," Tangmo said, leisurely licking the bloodstains on Luo’er’s neck. The taste of bloody sweat brought her immense satisfaction, a sense of possessiveness.

"You’re mistaken. If Moumou knew you were to blame, she’d be ridden with regret and might even commit suicide. Your actions will not get her approval. If she can’t cope, you’ll be the one suffering the consequences. Don’t you realize this?" Luo’er countered while looking at her.

"Don’t have to be so fierce!" Tangmo looked at him playfully, lightly pressing on his scabbed neck wound with her finger and laughed, "Why do you think I’d let Moumou commit suicide? If I could take over this body once, who’s to say I can’t do it a second time?"
