Chapter 248: Chapter 241: Travel Together
"Mr. Sword Saint, what do you plan to do now?" Luo’er asked Yalunte.
"Asking me, Little Elf?" When Yalunte looked at Luo’er, his eyes always contained a teasing tone.
"Sorry," Luo’er glanced at him, suddenly realizing they hadn’t introduced themselves. Although he found Yalunte frustrating, he still politely said, "We forgot to introduce ourselves."
Then, he began to introduce the members of the advance team: "My name is Luo’er, the captain of the advance team. This little girl is Tangmo, the Mage of our advance team..."
"Your team is quite interesting," looking at Luo’er and Tangmo, Yalunte couldn’t help but tease, "You’d think you were some sort of children’s army!"
"Well, we are all mixed blood, so it’s normal that you can’t tell our ages." Luo’er said awkwardly.
"This is Baiyue, a sub-beast race hybrid, and this is Hu Daoke, a half-beastman!" Luo’er continued introducing.
Yalunte carefully scrutinized Hu Daoke. Even though his appearance was somewhat fierce, Yalunte had seen countless half-beastmen in his travels, and Hu Daoke seemed the least like a half-beastman hybrid.
"Are all the people in your team mixed blood?" Yalunte retracted his gaze and asked.
"Uh, yes, that’s right..." Luo’er was still somewhat hesitant, not knowing whether to tell him about this.
"What about him, is he also mixed blood?" Yalunte looked at Cheng Ziang and asked.
"He is, a hybrid of Earth people and the Aud people!" After hesitating for a moment, Luo’er decided to speak out. After all, Yalunte can be considered a familiar face at the headquarters. He has been working for the headquarters for more than 20 years, as understood from their conversation the other day.
"Aud...Earth..." Yalunte squinted his eyes staring at Cheng Ziang, falling into deep thought. Luo’er knew what he was thinking. The argument he had with Wang Xu the other day was about the child. Yalunte has been working hard for the headquarters, and the headquarters in return helped him with his child.
But Luo’er wasn’t sure if he was imagining it or not, he always felt that Yalunte and Cheng Ziang mysteriously resembled each other. He shook his head, dismissing this thought. It couldn’t be such a coincidence, he probably suggested this idea to himself.
"His name is Cheng Ziang, the close combat fighter of the advance team, a Aud race hybrid!" Luo’er introduced.
Cheng Ziang stood silently, not uttering a word. He was wrestling with himself internally. In principle, he was highly irritated that he had been defeated by Yalunte, but he understood that Yalunte was the number one Sword Saint in the continent.
Seeing this, Luo’er decided to help, "What’s the plan now, Mr. Sword Saint?"
"What else can I do," Yalunte shrugged nonchalantly, "I still have to continue searching for Arya’s Blade..."
"In that case, can we come with you?" Luo’er glanced at Cheng Ziang, then asked.
"Of course you can, I was planning on traveling with you guys anyway." Yalunte laughed.
Luo’er asked cleverly, putting himself in a lower position and giving the decision to Yalunte, which was clearly favorable to him.
"That’s great, with your aid, our mission would surely go smooth." Luo’er said happily.
"You flatter me." Yalunte smiled, seeming pleased by Luo’er’s praise.
"Let’s leave here. It’d be a pain if someone saw all these bodies." Luo’er suggested.
"You go ahead, I’ll catch up!" Yalunte waved dismissively.
"And you are?" Luo’er asked hesitantly.
"Don’t worry, I have a mount, I can keep up with you!" Yalunte replied.
"Alright then, we’ll move ahead!" Luo’er nodded, then signaled his team to leave.
They mounted their horses and continued towards Saint Bawa. Tangmo sent a magic messenger to the headquarters earlier, but they haven’t received a response yet, so they could only wait.
"Being defeated by him doesn’t really make you that angry, does it!" Luo’er glanced at Cheng Ziang and then said with a smile.
"Knowing that is enough, don’t say it out loud!" Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes and said reluctantly.
"Why not tell him directly," Luo’er asked.
"It’s embarrassing!" Cheng Ziang muttered under his breath.
"What’s so embarrassing about it, after all the guy is a swordsaint, and you don’t have much practical battle experience. It’s only natural you couldn’t beat him." Luo’er reassured with a laugh.
"I don’t need your consolation, I know what I’m thinking!" Cheng Ziang waved his hand and said.
Luo’er gave him a glance, as if hesitating for a long while, still couldn’t help but ask, "Umm, let me tell you something!"
"What?" Cheng Ziang turned to him and asked.
Luo’er didn’t speak but gestured for him to come closer, then quietly whispered into his ear, "Why do I feel like the swordsaint kind of looks like you?"
"In what way are you referring to?" Cheng Ziang paused before asking.
"In terms of appearance, haven’t you noticed any resemblance between him and you?" Luo’er’s words left Cheng Ziang stunned.
"What do you mean?" He looked blankly at Luo’er as he asked.
Luo’er looked around, then took a deep breath, quietly whispering into his ear, "The day I went to the office to pick up a mission, I bumped into him. At the time, it seemed like he was in some kind of dispute with Wang Xu."
"What were they arguing about?" asked Cheng Ziang.
"A child!" After a moment of hesitation, Luo’er said, "Headquarters is helping Yalunte solve the issue of having a child, and in return, he serves the headquarters!"
"A child?" On hearing this reply, Cheng Ziang was momentarily at a loss.
"Umm," Luo’er coughed a bit and whispered, "Yalunte seems to have some kind of secret. He has no children, so the headquarters promised him that they could solve his problem using technology. In return, they have brought him into their fold."
"What’s all this got to do with me?" As Cheng Ziang furrowed his brow, he asked.
"That day when I was in the office, Wang Xu assured Yalunte that the child had grown up and was now on Earth. I’m guessing he was not fooling Yalunte, so..." Lorenzo hesitated as he spoke.
"So, what?" Cheng Ziang suddenly felt tense.
"I don’t know if it’s an illusion," Luo’er shook his head as he said, "The first time I saw him, I thought he was familiar, but I didn’t know why at the time. But now thinking back, I don’t know if it’s due to psychological hints, but I feel he bears a resemblance to you!"
"You mean?" Cheng Ziang hesitated as he looked at him.
"Um, I’m thinking, didn’t you also always wanted to find your family? So, do you get this feeling that Yalunte could possibly be your father?" Luo’er hesitantly said.
With those words from Luo’er, Cheng Ziang’s scalp instantly tingled, and he hastily recalled what he felt when he first saw Yalunte. Indeed, just as Luo’er had said, the sensation of familiarity and strangely perceived compatibility he felt when looking at Yalunte was undeniable.
"Of course, this is only my speculation without any solid evidence, you shouldn’t believe it. Don’t rush to call anyone daddy." Luo’er added.
"I know, who would run around recklessly calling someone daddy!" Cheng Ziang gave him a white look but his mood still didn’t settle.
At this moment, Cheng Ziang began to notice that he and Yalunte had many similarities. For instance, he was of mixed Aud blood, and Yalunte was an Aud; and Yalunte had golden blonde hair, which was also his hair color.
He remembered Luo’er once saying that the Sub-beastmen characteristics would often inherit more from the maternal line of genes. Just like Luo’er, whose mother was a Wood Elf, so apart from his hair, he looked exactly like an Elf. Tangmo’s aesthetic traits were typical gentle features of a Jiangnan woman, which she inherited from her Earth heritage.
But Cheng Ziang was puzzled, observing his characteristics, it could be seen that his maternal genes most probably originated from the Auds. However, Yalunte was a male, thus shouldn’t be his father. Otherwise, his appearance should have more resemblance to the Yellow Race of Earth.
"What are you guys talking about?" Suddenly, a voice came from behind, making their scalps tingle in fear. Luo’er guiltily looked behind, only to see Yalunte riding a horse, grinning as he walked behind them and asked.
"No, nothing, Mr. Sword Saint, we thought we had lost you." Luo’er laughed sheepishly and said nervously.
"Ha, there’s only one road, how could you lose me." Yalunte laughed it off.
Cheng Ziang took another glance at him. He indeed felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, suspecting that Yalunte might really be his biological father. But theoretically, it didn’t make sense.
"Mr. Sword Saint, do you only use the sword?" Luo’er hesitated for a moment, then decided to introduce a new topic.
"Of course, because I’m a swordsman, why do you ask?" Yalunte asked in confusion.
"No, I mean, don’t you use a gun?" Luo’er waved his hand and asked.
"A gun, oh, those Earth weapons, I’m not used to them!" Yalunte waved his hand.
"Then how did you handle those gunmen?" Luo’er asked the question that had been boggling his mind.
"By using terrain and positioning." Yalunte shrugged his shoulders and said.
"Po, positioning?" Hearing this word from Yalunte, Luo’er felt strangely disoriented.
