Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 155 - 151: Magic Leak Point

Chapter 155: Chapter 151: Magic Leak Point

Such tranquil days passed and it was half a month before they knew it. During this time, the Advance Team had been focused on teaching the Hunter squad about magic knowledge. After spending some time together, the distance and unfamiliarity previously between the two groups had reduced greatly.

As their relationship deepened, Luo’er began to sense the peculiar feelings Shangguan Jiu had towards him. Whenever Shangguan Jiu was in his presence, she would always have a smile on her face, not arguing with anything Luo’er said.

Luo’er thought that perhaps it was just the tacit understanding between half-elves despite the fact that he was a Wood Elf while Shangguan Jiu was a Night Elf. However, ever since Shangguan Jiu started showing these peculiar feelings, Luo’er once again strangely became the object of enmity.

The one holding a grudge against Luo’er was Wu Tairan. Anyone with clear eyes could see that he was fond of Shangguan Jiu. But Shangguan Jiu seemed to have no special feelings for him, treating him merely as a close comrade.

In the training ground, Shangguan Jiu was standing in the center, her eyes covered. The members of the Hunter squad had basically mastered the technique of magic sensing after half a month’s training. But as the mage of the squad, Shangguan Jiu still needed to put in more effort into her training.

When it came to magical aptitude, the Hunter squad was clearly not on par with Luo’er and his team. Apart from Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke who had poor magical aptitudes, the remaining three members of the Advance Team were experts in magic, with a high affinity for it. Especially Tangmo. He could be said to be the top magic user in the whole academy. Thus, when it came to magical aptitude, the Advance Team had a lower limit but a high upper limit.

Therefore, after completing the basic magic sensing training, they decided to shift the focus of training to Shangguan Jiu and strive to make her the true magic core power of the Hunter squad.

"Be careful. Their magic can unleash at any time. You must detect the direction and level of the magic disturbance in the shortest time possible," Luo’er told Shangguan Jiu from a distance.

"I understand." Hearing Luo’er’s words, Shangguan Jiu smiled. She didn’t know where he was, but she still made a "V" sign with her hand.

Luo’er was rendered speechless, so he closed his mouth. Then he nodded to the two girls, Tangmo and Baiyue, signaling them to start the training. The other members of the Hunter squad watched from the side with their captain, Murong, standing next to Luo’er and observing the situation.

Off in the distance, Hu Daoke and Cheng Ziang were lazing around on the grass, watching the activity on the training field. Hu Daoke was lounging with his legs crossed and Yaning happily clinging to his legs, bouncing up and down and giggling.

These days they had nothing much to do, so they were assigned to be the little girl’s caretakers. Although Cheng Ziang, after spending time with her, had already rid himself of his prejudice against Yaning, he still found it a little hard to deal with this lively little girl.

Shangguan Jiu stood in the center of the training field, her pointy ears twitching. Even though magic sensing was not a function achieved through ears, she still habitually used her ears to sense her surrounding.

"This way, level two magic!" She sensed something and pointed in one direction, speaking loudly.

Tangmo, in the direction indicated, hesitated a moment and then nodded with satisfaction. She ceased her chant and made a sign towards Baiyue who was not far away.

"Also here, level three magic!" Shangguan Jiu pointed in another direction and loudly announced.

"And here, level three magic!" Shangguan Jiu again pointed at Tangmo.

"And, and, here, level two magic!"

"Here, here... eh, aren’t there just two people, why are there three magic disturbances?" Shangguan Jiu said this in a hurried voice.

Murong turned to glare at Luo’er. Realizing Murong was looking at him, Luo’er coughed awkwardly then surreptitiously put away his magic wand. Seeing Shangguan Jiu’s helpless expression, he couldn’t help but want to play a little prank.

"If you train specifically in magic, will it be useful when you’re on Earth?" With Murong at his side, Luo’er could no longer contain this question he had been holding back.

"Of course it will be," Murong said without turning his head, simply watching Shangguan Jiu. "There have already been incidents of magic leakage on Earth. In those areas affected by magic leakage, it’s possible to use magic."

"Magic leakage?" Luo’er was stunned. How could there be magic on Earth, let alone it leaking?

Murong glanced at him before raising his head to look at the sky, "I’ve only heard people at headquarters mention it. Apparently, the connection between Earth and the Otherworld began thousands of years ago. Some mages from the Otherworld used teleportation magic to cross over. Some of them even made it to Earth and began enlightening the inhabitants there who were still uncultivated."

"For a long period of time, the Otherworld was fostering civilization on Earth. Some of these self-proclaimed prophet mages even established the early forms of Earth’s modern religions. And the sacred lands they sought for their religions were the locations of magic leakage. Because in those areas affected by magic leakage, spells could be used. This in turn allowed these prophets to use teleportation magic and return to Earth."

"You’re making this up, right? This sounds like some kind of cheap pop lit," Luo’er said doubtfully.

Murong shrugged and said, "This is the result of a United Nations investigation, it has long been an open secret within UNESCO. Do you know where the most famous Magic leak point is?"

"Where?" Luo’er asked.

"Jerusalem," Murong said with a smile, "Now you should understand why it became the Holy City."

Then, he revealed an even more astonishing secret: "It is said that in 1908, two apostles belonging to different sects fought over the magic leak point in Siberia. The magic power of the leak point was equivalent to that of the Otherworld, and their struggle caused a massive explosion that shook the entire world, affecting over 2000 kilometers."

"The Tunguska Explosion!" Luo’er immediately thought, but he then considered something else, "Wait, are you saying that before the gate of Otherworld appeared, there were already Otherworld people on Earth who could use magic?"

"Yes." Murong confirmed with a nod.

"When Otherworld people are teleported to Earth, aren’t their bodies reconstituted? How could they still use magic then?" Luo’er asked.

"Maybe they used tools," Murong scratched his head and said, "As of now, the United Nations has discovered an ancient Magic organization, believed to be the descendants of those Otherworld people."

"Really?" Luo’er blinked, feeling like he was hearing a tale.

"Why would I lie to you," Murong rolled his eyes, he continued, "According to the available intelligence, this organization is called the Holy Covenant Organization, a Mage organization under the guise of a religion that has been searching for a method for Earthlings to use magic for over two thousand years. After the Tunguska explosion, it reportedly split into two factions: one following the ancient ways in search of the method, and the other seeking ways to use technology to leverage magic. To distinguish these two factions, the United Nations internally refers to the former as the ’Old Covenant’ and the latter as the ’New Covenant’."

"So, even before the Otherworld gate appeared, Earthlings had already been in contact with Otherworlders for a long time. And for a considerable period, the Otherworld civilization was more advanced," Luo’er shook his head and said.

"When we first learned this, we were all baffled," Murong shrugged and said, "We always thought the Otherworld’s civilization was just a backward one stuck in feudalism, but it turned out to shock us all. Before Earth even entered industrial civilization, the Otherworld civilization was superior."

"And what’s your mission on Earth?" Luo’er asked.

"The United Nations is planning to establish a religious investigation committee, ostensibly to investigate religious issues on Earth. But the main purpose is to take over the magic leak points from these Mage organizations. We will study at Shenghua Academy for two years and then join the special action unit under its command," Murong explained.

"So, you’re studying magic disruption because you plan to deal with these Mage organizations?" Luo’er asked tentatively.

"Yes," Murong nodded, staring at Luo’er’s ear, suddenly he chuckled gently and continued, "So I suddenly understand why the headquarters chose you as the advance team."

Luo’er was stunned for a moment, understanding Murong’s implication. He played with his ear and helplessly said, "I have no choice, all Wood Elves are like this."

"Compared to your team, our team members look more like Earthlings, so it’s more convenient for us to operate on Earth," Murong said.

"Then why did you have to provoke us when you just arrived?" Luo’er was referring to the conflict they had when they first arrived.

"Just simple displeasure, wanted to vent on you." Murong said innocently.

"You..." Luo’er stared at him speechlessly, then turned his head and said no more.

In the distance, Baiyue was about to cast a Level 3 spell. Just as she was silently reciting the spells, a shadow suddenly fell from the sky onto her arm. Startled, Baiyue turned to see that it was Princess Melia’s carrier pigeon.

Since Baiyue had been caring for the little creature before, Luo’er had handed the communication ring directly to her. After contacting Princess Melia, she forgot to remove the ring, and as a result, the bird managed to locate her using the ring.

Baiyue noticed a piece of paper tied to the pigeon’s leg. She took off the paper, opened it, and her eyebrows immediately furrowed.

Ignoring the rest of the training, Baiyue grabbed the pigeon and hurried over to Luo’er. She quickly handed the paper to him and said solemnly, "Luo’er, a letter from Princess Melia!"

Luo’er was stunned for a moment, then opened the letter. Upon seeing its content, his face tensed immediately.
