Chapter 154: Chapter 150: Magic Training_1

"What’s wrong with your face?" Hu Daoke couldn’t help but ask when he saw Cheng Ziang’s expression.

"None of your damn business!" Cheng Ziang retorted rudely.

"Huh, as if I care." Hu Daoke rolled his eyes at him and snorted coldly.

"So boring," Hu Daoke yawned and looked at the Magic Practice training not far away, "Let’s go hunting!"

"Have you forgotten what Luo’er told you to do?" Cheng Ziang said."

"Isn’t it just watching...hey, where did Yaning run off to?" Hu Daoke quickly got up in a panic from the grass only to see Yaning squatting not far away, observing an anthill. He finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"How about you take her with you, while I do something else?" Hu Daoke suggested.

"Drop it, Luo’er explicitly asked you to take care of her." Cheng Ziang declined flatly.

"Why are you so melodramatic," Hu Daoke gestured at him, "I can’t believe there’s someone like you in this world who doesn’t like little girls; you must be a bad guy!"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say!" Cheng Ziang yawned in response.

He indeed didn’t like Yaning. Firstly, because she had once nearly disrupted the team’s dynamics, and secondly, because he wasn’t used to interacting with children.

While Cheng Ziang was yawning, Yaning was swaying towards him holding a piece of fruit unique to the continent, looking at him with pure innocent eyes.

"What now?" Cheng Ziang immediately hardened his expression when he saw her, coldly questioning her while giving off an aura of unwelcomeness.

Yaning gnawed at her finger and babbled some noise, offering him the fruit.

"I don’t want it, you eat," Cheng Ziang turned his face away, flatly refusing her without hesitation. Perhaps it was because of Yaning’s care for him, his tone was a bit gentler.

But Yaning didn’t leave and continued her babbling. She eventually mumbled out a few unclear words: "Eat... eat..."

Cheng Ziang frowned, glaring at her ferociously. Yaning seemed unfazed by his intimidating look, her large, clear eyes met his, showcasing her innocence and purity. After a while, he decided to give in, he sighed helplessly while accepting the fruit from her hand.

Seeing Cheng Ziang accept her fruit, Yaning squealed excitedly and waved her little hands in the air.

Cheng Ziang took a look at the fruit, which was specific to the continent and had a texture similar to an apple. However, since it was wild, it probably didn’t taste as good as an apple.

With the fruit in one hand, he started searching his body for a knife to peel it. Seeing Yaning watch him excitedly, he couldn’t help but ask, "Do you want some?"

"Mhm!" Yaning nodded excitedly.

"Me too, me too!" Hu Daoke chimed in from the side.

Getting Yaning’s reply, Cheng Ziang was slightly taken aback. He calmly retracted the throwing knife he had half-drawn from his chest and instead pulled out a new one from the sheath on his leg to peel the fruit in front of her.

Cheng Ziang’s knife skills were pretty good, able to peel the fruit in a long, unbroken strip. Yaning showed great interest in his skill, staring excitedly at the fruit spinning in his hand and making awestruck noises. Cheng Ziang looked up at her, the little girl was staring intently at the knife in his hand, her eyes brimming with excitement. Although his face was still cold, he couldn’t help but want to smile.

Cheng Ziang finished peeling and split the fruit in half. He looked up at Yaning, the little girl was still watching him with the same exciting curiosity. After some thought, he further split the halves into smaller chunks.

"Ah."

Cheng Ziang used the knife to pick up a small chunk of fruit and offered it to Yaning. She obediently opened her mouth and bit into the fruit, squinting her eyes and showing a sweet smile.

"Hey, don’t point the knife at her. You could hurt her." Looking at the situation, Hu Daoke cautioned nervously from the side.

Cheng Ziang coldly glanced at him and ignored him, paying his full attention to Yaning. He then continued to pick up the second chunk for Yaning, who bit into it straightaway. However, she suddenly seemed to remember something and spit it into her hand then handed it over to him.

"What are you trying to do?" Cheng Ziang looked at her disapprovingly, having a bad feeling about this.

"This... for me?" He pointed at the fruit in Yaning’s hand, and then pointed at himself.

"Yep."

Yaning squinted, displaying a naively innocent smile. Cheng Ziang crinkled his eyebrows at her, his face full of distaste. Yet for some unknown reason, he was not repelled by her actions. He stared at the fruit in her hand and after a long hesitation, he eventually succumbed.

He lowered his head and ate the fruit from Yaning’s hand, chewing with apparent distaste. Although the taste of the fruit was not bad, he could not help but be ticked off by Yaning’s apparently triumphant smile.

"Your hands are dirty, be sure to wash them next time, understood?" Cheng Ziang spoke in his usual cold tone, trying to regain some dominance. But when he saw the little girl’s innocent and confused expression, he knew he had again passed on some profound knowledge to her.

"Well, I thought you didn’t like her," Hu Daoke said suggestively from the side.

Seizing an unguarded moment from Cheng Ziang, he pilfered the other half of the fruit and started munching heartily.

Cheng Ziang shot him a fierce glare and only noticed Yaning had run off chasing butterflies when he turned back. Resting his cheek on his hand, he watched Yaning bouncing around in the distance, reflecting on the incident. That was the first time he didn’t find Yaning annoying, and he realized that dealing with children wasn’t that hard after all.

The reason he had a biased attitude towards Yaning was due to the preconceived notion that she had disrupted the team’s dynamics when she first appeared, which Cheng Ziang absolutely detested.

However, Luo’er and Tangmo, who had quarreled because of Yaning, had long reconciled. Only he stubbornly clung to his rigid perceptions. Looking back now, he found himself quite amusing.

In the distance, the magic teaching session with Luo’er and the others was still underway. The only thing Cheng Ziang had to ensure was that the little girl didn’t stray towards Luo’er and cause any accidental harm. After the recent incident, his concern for Yaning had increased a little.

Thanks to the daytime’s lessons, the relationships between both squads had significantly improved by the time dinner came. The main reason was that Zhuanzhu, who always enjoyed trash talking, had, for some reason, kept quiet for days. It seemed that Murong was able to keep this guy in check; he simply chose not to most of the time.

After dinner, Luo’er went out for a walk, and Li Si followed him, wanting to chat about Wang Xu. Ever since he learned about the deep friendship between Luo’er and Wang Xu, he couldn’t wait to chat with Luo’er about it.

"What’s so interesting about Wang Xu?" Luo’er rolled his eyes. Though he did admit that Wang Xu was quite admirable when he was young.

When the Origin Project first started, Wang Xu was but a mere serviceman under Luo Qishan, mainly responsible for taking care of Luo’er. After all the students of the first batch had enrolled, he had left the academy for military school. By the time Luo’er met him again in high school, he was an instructor at Haiya Academy.

Apparently, after he had finished his military school education, he had gone abroad, only to finally return as an instructor at Haiya Academy. When the Origin Project had just begun, he was just an ordinary soldier. However, by the time Luo’er saw him again, he was already one of the participants in the Origin Project.

"You don’t know," Li Si couldn’t resist gossiping, "When he was studying at our school, all the male students were willing to recognize him as their brother. Even though there were not many girls in the school, he still received love confessions regularly."

"Really?" Luo’er scratched his head, looking at him skeptically.

If he remembered correctly, Wang Xu had yet to settle down, and he wondered what he planned to do. But if he had to couple him up, Luo’er did think Wang Xu would be well-matched with their magic teacher, Zhuyan Yu, even though she probably wouldn’t be interested in him.

When he thought about it, both of them had already hit their forties. Although Earth’s medical technology was advanced, it was about time for them to settle down at their age. To be honest, Luo’er was a bit worried about them.

Given Li Si’s age of about twenty, Luo’er was sure he was older than him; yet, as a half-elf, he looked young and still maintained a fair and tender high school student appearance.

Recalling his own age, Luo’er could not help reminiscing about the fear of being controlled when he was younger. He was only around eighty or ninety years old then, much softer and tender than now, leading to most people treating him like a girl.

Especially the female researchers in the institute, who were very fond of him, hugging him one after another, treating Luo’er like a rag doll. And Wang Xu, this guy, not only did not stop them, but he also took the opportunity to flirt, which angered Luo’er for a long time.

Listening to Li Si talking about Wang Xu’s past, Luo’er couldn’t help but reflect on their past experiences together. Surprisingly, so many years had passed, and many people and many things had changed.

In his search for his mother, Luo’er did not have much confidence either. After all, it had been many years, and his memory of her had started to blur. However, he would rather live in his own deceit, believing that he could find his mother soon.

But then again, what would he do after finding her? Luo Qishan was still on Earth. If he were to flee, it would undoubtedly impact him. Although he didn’t like Luo Qishan, the man was still his grandfather and one of his few relatives in both worlds. How could he possibly sit idly by?

With these thoughts, Luo’er couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh.

"What’s wrong?" Seeing his expression, Li Si, who was in the middle of his story, couldn’t help but ask.

"It’s nothing," Luo’er shook his head and replied, "I’m probably just tired, after all, I’ve been teaching them all day."
