Chapter 132: Chapter 128: Luo’er’s tactics

Luo’er was taken aback by the question and didn’t know what to say. Seeing him, Cheng Ziang felt more sure about his ideas. He shook his head and said: "We’re about to develop a new plan right now. Regardless of what you’re thinking, you need to make things right with her soon. We can’t afford to have our mission delayed because of your emotional disputes. You should know that we’re now behind enemy lines, and we don’t have any reliable people around us. Completing our mission and leaving this place as soon as possible should be our top priority!"

Luo’er kept his head down silently, listening to Cheng Ziang’s lecture. After a while, he raised his head and slowly said, "I understand. I will go and reconcile with her. I can’t let our issues interfere with the mission."

"I really don’t know what to say about you two. Saying Moumou is naive, but you’re not much better. She’s just in her early twenties, but you’re nearly thirty. Do you plan to keep acting out?" Cheng Ziang took a breath and said with a look of disappointment.

"You’ve become quite mature." Luo’er looked at him and said with a smile.

"Well, of course. Unlike you two always in your lovey-dovey world, I spend more time thinking about problems than you two spent dillydallying." Cheng Ziang shot him a look and replied unhappily.

"The resentment of a single dog..." Luo’er sighed. For some reason, this was the phrase that came to his mind.

Cheng Ziang gave him a glare, but didn’t say anything more. Luo’er picked up his water bottle, shook it, then said regretfully: "Why did you drink it all?"

"Were you planning to apologize with the help of the liquid courage?" Cheng Ziang saw through his plans instantly, sighed, and then said, "Let me think of a solution for you!"

Inside the camp, Tangmo was sitting with Yaning near the charcoal fire. Suddenly, the curtain was lifted and a gust of cold wind blew in. Cheng Ziang walked in, carrying Luo’er who was almost unconscious.

"What the hell happened?" Hu Daoke stood up, supporting Luo’er and asking.

"We had some drinks and Luo’er can’t hold his liquor." Cheng Ziang shrugged and replied helplessly.

"Where did you get the alcohol?" Hu Daoke asked. He could smell the alcohol on them.

"Shouldn’t you guys take care of him instead of asking about that?" Cheng Ziang said without any expression.

"Leave it to me." Hu Daoke grabbed Luo’er’s arm, intending to move him onto the bed. Before he could secure his hold, Luo’er staggered and fell right in front of Tangmo, alarming her and causing her to hold Yaning tighter.

"Luo’er, are you okay?" Luo’er had landed with a loud thump, giving Hu Daoke a fright. He quickly knelt down to help Luo’er up.

"Why didn’t you hold him tightly?" Seeing Luo’er scuffling, Tangmo handed Yaning over to Baiyue, then hurried over to help Luo’er up. She shot a displeased look at Hu Daoke.

"Well, I’m sorry." Hu Daoke scratched his head. Under Tangmo’s reprimand, he didn’t dare to talk back.

"Moumou!" Suddenly, Luo’er opened his blurry, drunken eyes, then threw his arms around Tangmo and leaned his head on her shoulder.

"Luo..." Tangmo froze for a moment, suddenly unsure of what to do next. Although she was still angry at Luo’er, he had never taken the initiative to hug her before. She felt happiness washing over her, catching her completely off guard.

"I’m sorry, Moumou..." Luo’er leaned on her shoulder, whispering in her ear.

"Don’t apologize like this..." Tangmo’s ear tingled as Luo’er’s whispers tickled it. She turned her head away, her face flushed as she spoke.

"I’m sorry, because of my orders..." Luo’er began to speak in her ear but stopped before he could finish.

"Then why didn’t you apologize earlier?" Tangmo lowered her head, clearly still a bit angry.

"I..." Luo’er didn’t know what to say and pretended to fall asleep.

"You know that as soon as you apologize, I would forgive you. But why do you keep on ignoring me?" Tangmo spoke in a low, aggrieved voice, her head still lowered.

"Whenever I get upset, you used to comfort me. Why aren’t you doing that now?" Tangmo’s voice grew smaller as she continued, her words becoming more and more aggrieved.

"I’m sorry, I..." Luo’er said, slipping down from her, but luckily Hu Daoke managed to support him in time.

"You cunning guy, using your drunk state as a method to apologize!" Despite the apology, Tangmo was still upset.

"Sister Moumou, should I take him over?" Hu Daoke, holding Luo’er up, asked carefully.

"Yes," Tangmo nodded, then added with some concern, "Remember to cover him with a blanket so he doesn’t catch a cold."

"Eh!" Hu Daoke nodded and walked over carrying Luo’er.

As she looked at the sleeping Luo’er, Tangmo’s mood was very conflicted. All she wanted was an apology from Luo’er; she didn’t believe Luo’er did anything wrong. It’s just that she simply felt neglected when Luo’er didn’t console her when she was upset, which made her feel unhappy and ignored.

This guy, clearly knowing a simple apology would mend things between them, stubbornly refused to do so. When a couple quarrels, isn’t it to be expected for a man to take the initiative to apologize?!

Watching Luo’er’s performance from the sidelines, Cheng Ziang turned to ask Tangmo, "Feeling better now?"

Tangmo glanced up at him, nodding and then lifting her head again to glare at him, she frowned and asked, "Why did you let him drink?"

"He wanted to drink," Cheng Ziang shrugged, nonchalantly answering.

"You clearly knew he can’t hold his liquor, and yet you encouraged him to drink. What if something had happened to him tonight?" Tangmo’s glare at Cheng Ziang was full of anger. For the first time, Cheng Ziang thought Tangmo truly exercised her power as the team captain.

"Moumou," Cheng Ziang suddenly flashed an incomprehensible smile, looking at her and asking, "Do you really believe Luo’er should apologize to you, do you really think he did anything wrong?"

"Of, of course..." Put on the spot by Cheng Ziang’s question, Tangmo seemed to lack confidence, evasively answering.

"If Luo’er had agreed to your decision to rescue those people, what would we do if the rebels surrounded us? Could you assure Luo’er’s safety, let alone everyone else’s? Or is it that in your eyes, the safety of Luo’er and the rest of us simply don’t match up to those villagers?" Cheng Ziang suddenly retracted his smile and asked her quite seriously.

"I..." Tongmo was left speechless by his questions.

"Moumou, you..." As Cheng Ziang prepared to continue his questioning, Luo’er, who was lying in bed, suddenly coughed violently, startling Hu Daoke who was beside him.

"My goodness, what’s happened to him? Has he caught a cold?" Hu Daoke leaned over to look at Luo’er, seemingly not discomforted and, after some thought, decided to get a blanket to cover him.

Cheng Ziang naturally knew why Luo’er was coughing. Looking at the silent Tangmo, he sighed and reluctantly closed his mouth.

Baiyue, watching everyone, glanced at Hu Daoke for help. Receiving a helpless shrug in return, Yaning, with her wide eyes, left Baiyue’s side and wobbled over to Luo’er. Looking at his sleeping figure, she bit her finger and stayed quiet for a while, then suddenly clumsily climbed onto Luo’er’s bed, burying her head in his arm.

"Hey, little Yaning, are you going to sleep with Luo’er?" Hu Daoke asked, blinking his eyes in surprise.

He addressed Yaning in Tasta-language, so she seemed to understand his words. She lifted her head to look at Hu Daoke and nodded.

"Uh..." Hu Daoke was momentarily indecisive, so he turned to look at Tangmo.

She quietly watched Yaning lying on Luo’er, her facial expression complicated. After some hesitation, she eventually decided not to interfere with Yaning.

Yaning looked up at everyone, then laboriously pulled away Luo’er’s blanket, then crawled into his bedding, making him shiver.

Luo’er’s act of pretending to be asleep did not come without its difficulties. Yaning pressing against his chest was making it hard for him to breathe. Plus, her attempt to crawl into his bedding was making his body tense. Now he had to consider whether he should get up and physically remove her from the bed.

"Little Yaning, don’t..." Hu Daoke watched her actions, both amused and exasperated, bending over to pick her up. The constant struggle from Yaning forced him to put her back down.

However, he did not place her back on Luo’er’s chest. Instead, he lifted Luo’er’s blanket and lay her down beside him before covering them with the blanket. Yaning snuggled against Luo’er, clutching his arm, before closing her eyes.

"It seems like Yaning really likes Luo’er!" Watching the tender scene between the two, Hu Daoke shook his head and commented.

Tangmo bit her lip as she glanced at them, feeling mixed emotions. Cheng Ziang felt he had completed his task, then turned and said, "I’m going to stand guard outside, you go to sleep."

Having said that, he once again lifted the curtain and walked out of the tent, leaving behind three awkward individuals and two people fast asleep. Hu Daoke glanced at Tangmo and then at Baiyue, finally saying, "Let’s go to bed early!"

As Tongmo laid on her bed, she glanced again at Luo’er and Yaning before falling asleep. She thought back to Cheng Ziang’s earlier questioning. Frankly, these thoughts had crossed her mind before, but at that time, she was consumed by her initial impulsive reaction.

She had always believed Luo’er’s decision was the correct one. The only issue was that the reinforcements they expected were replaced by a dense volley of cannonfire. But obviously, she wrongfully blamed Luo’er for what was the frontline army’s mistake and had given him the cold shoulder for so long.

Reflecting on Cheng Ziang’s question, she realized that she was indeed in the wrong. And childishly so. It was her mistake, yet she foolishly kept expecting an apology from Luo’er, blaming him for not giving what was falsely owed to him. Now thinking back, it was utterly ridiculous.

In any case, she decided she had to apologize to Luo’er the next day. Since he had already apologized to her, Tangmo saw it necessary for her to apologize to Luo’er as well.
