Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 131 - 127: Luo’er’s Thoughts

Chapter 131: Chapter 127: Luo’er’s Thoughts

In the evening, Cheng Ziang went out alone to explore the camp. His role in the team was a reconnaissance soldier, making him most suitable for this reconnaissance task. Hu Daoke and Baiyue tended to Yaning, leaving Luo’er alone with his thoughts.

His relationship with Tangmo remained strained, but he didn’t have much time to resolve it. His mind was preoccupied with finding the source of the frontline troops’ artillery shells, and fulfilling the task assigned by Princess Melia, otherwise they would not get the intelligence that Princess Melia promised.

The knight and mage forces that Odelanqi sent to Masya could not only be the frontline troops, the rest were unknown, only Princess Melia knew. Although she currently had no power or influence, as a princess of Masya, it was far easier for her to gather intelligence than Luo’er and his team.

Clearly, in order to handle this matter skillfully, they must ensure that they and Princess Melia would not get involved. After all, she had no cards left to play, and if she were implicated in this, she would not be able to turn the situation around.

Prince Oliver planned to launch an offensive in the spring to reverse the current dilemma. Princess Melia was also married off to Odelanqi in the spring. He didn’t know if this was a calculated move by her brother, sending away his sister and then trying to win the support of his subjects with a victory.

According to Luo’er’s plan, they would find an excuse to leave the camp after collecting information on the source of the artillery shells, then quietly return to stir up conflict between the two sides while masquerading as the mage corps.

After all, not many people in the entire camp could use magic, it would not be difficult for the Masya army to identify the instigator. Since they met Princess Melia, they had never shown that they knew magic, and the magic wands were always hidden in the spare gun barrels of Hu Daoke.

Therefore, as long as they started the trouble, Rodney would surely not suspect them, thus ensuring that Princess Melia would not be implicated.

But the current concern was Rodney, this guy had been making things difficult for them since they came to the frontline troops’ camp. Therefore, Luo’er was worried that when they left the camp, Rodney would ambush them. After all, he had been coveting the two girls in the advance team for a long time, and overtly murdering them would be a gross injustice.

At midnight, Cheng Ziang finally returned unscathed. According to his reconnaissance, indeed, artillery shells were stored in the tents behind the artillery positions, though they were heavily guarded. He still found an opportunity to sneak into the artillery positions and scrutinize these artillery pieces.

The traction artillery was wrapped in canvas. Cheng Ziang examined them carefully and discovered that these were not howitzers, but more like cannons. They were complex in structure, and it was almost impossible to tell which country on Earth they belonged to. More importantly, the wheels used on the artillery were not made of rubber, but were metal wheels cut from metal.

This made Cheng Ziang suspect that these pieces of artillery might not come from Earth. There were only so many countries on Earth that used 155 caliber artillery and they all universally denied selling artillery to the Otherworld.

If that was the case, the artillery must have been produced in the Otherworld. If so, which country on the Otherworld was producing this batch of artillery and selling it to Masya?

Without a mature industrial capability, it would be very difficult to manufacture such weapons. There are not many countries on Earth that have the ability to self-produce weapons.

Cheng Ziang felt it was necessary to report this to his superiors. As he saw it, whether they found the source of the shells was irrelevant now. It was crucial to ascertain which country had produced this batch of artillery.

If an industrialized country emerged in the Otherworld and Earth’s countries were unaware, by the time they deployed troops in the Otherworld and the industrialized Otherworld Allied Army attacked, it would be a big slap in their faces.

Judging from the posture of the frontline troops, they clearly had their own specialized artillery, and their operations seemed experienced, as they could perform five-base firing. This was clearly not cultivated by the Masya army itself, but should have been taught by the people who sold them the artillery.

Operating the artillery is not just physical labor, but technological work as well. Without proper guidance, these people probably wouldn’t even know how to install the fuse on the shell.

Back in the camp, after organizing the information, Luo’er gave the intelligence to Cheng Ziang to communicate it to Tangmo for sending it to the Headquarters. Cheng Ziang glanced at the two of them and sighed, not knowing what they were resentful about.

He handed the intelligence to Tangmo. Tangmo glanced at Luo’er and swiftly sent the information to Headquarters through magic mail, then threw the message paper into the fire to burn. Although she was still in a cold war with Luo’er, this matter couldn’t be delayed. She wouldn’t indulge in petty behavior, especially because she was the Captain after all.

Seeing that Tangmo sent the intelligence to Headquarters, Luo’er finally felt much more at ease. Watching them surrounding Yaning, he got up and left the camp to get some fresh air and calm down, to think about the next plan.

Just as he stepped out of the camp, he felt a sudden chill. Subconsciously adjusting his fur collar, he suddenly heard footsteps from behind. Turning around, he saw that Cheng Ziang had also come out, holding a water jug in his hand.

"What’s that?" Luo’er asked, looking at the jug in his hand.

"Wine, just got some." Cheng Ziang shook the jug with a smiling face, "Want a swig?"

"You really have too much free time." Luo’er couldn’t help but make a face. During the reconnaissance, Cheng Ziang had actually stolen some wine as well.

He took the water jug from Cheng Ziang’s hand, opened the lid, and took a gulp. This was the fruit wine of the Otherworld, fermented from a type of otherworldly fruit. Unlike what he drank in the bar, it was stronger and less sour.

"Correct." Luo’er nodded, and then handed it to Cheng Ziang. For him, the evaluation of whether a wine is good or not doesn’t depend on its degree but the taste.

Cheng Ziang took the water bottle, took a sip, and said with a disgusted face, "It’s a bit bland!"

"Shut up, if you want a high degree, why don’t you drink alcohol!" Luo’er said, rolling his eyes at him.

"Getting drunk means I can speak my mind." Cheng Ziang said with a grin.

"Here we go again?" Luo’er looked at him speechlessly. He remembered that Cheng Ziang became talkative after getting drunk, endlessly prattling like a gossip.

Cheng Ziang didn’t speak, but continued to drink the wine from the water bottle in one gulp. When he finished and put the bottle down, Luo’er could clearly see that his face had begun to flush, and his eyes were getting hazy.

"Just say what you want..." Luo’er, watching him, sighed.

Their camp is located in a remote area, and basically, no one passes by here at night. Therefore, they can converse with confidence, especially since they’re not speaking the Tasta language, so even if anyone eavesdrops, they wouldn’t understand what they’re saying.

"I was thinking," Cheng Ziang with a hazy smile, unleashed his unrestrained character, "why don’t you apologize to Momo."

"Why are you all so curious?" Luo’er sighed, not knowing what to say.

"You’re actually not mad at her, right? For you, cheering Momo up should be an easy task." Cheng Ziang asked with a smile.

Luo’er glanced at him, nodded silently, and said, "Momo is just a bit naive. She hasn’t done anything wrong. Why should I be mad at her?"

"So you intentionally ignored her?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"Yes," Luo’er nodded, admitted decisively, "Sometimes I find some of her actions annoying, especially during the time at the Sacred Heart Magic Academy, she was always jealous. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if our relationship was a bit more distant, giving each other a chance to think."

"And then you intentionally distanced yourself from her?" Cheng Ziang questioned.

Luo’er nodded, then looked at the snow scene in the distance, he said with a sigh, "Momo is not young anymore, moreover, she is the Captain of the Advance Team. She really should be more sensible and not always depend on our protection. I hope to take this opportunity to let her think. Without us, especially without my help, how should she face her future? Otherwise, if something happens to me one day, she might completely collapse."

Cheng Ziang, with his eyes half-closed, listened to him talk, then asked, "So, you’re not planning on making up with her?"

Luo’er nodded, and then sighed, "Let her cool down a bit, let her think independently about how she should lead the team without me. I can’t always be the one taking on the captain’s role while just being a member of the team."

"You should have been the captain, why are you being so stubborn on this matter?" Cheng Ziang asked, puzzled.

"Last time you were drunk, you didn’t say that." Luo’er replied, teasingly.

"When was the last time, back then you were stealing the limelight. Now, we’ve gone this far, everyone sees your capabilities. Is it fun to insist that Momo be the captain and you lead the team?" Cheng Ziang spoke with a face of disbelief.

"Since I’m practically leading the team, does being the captain matter that much?" Luo’er shrugged.

"Isn’t that obvious," Cheng Ziang, slightly drunk, seemed a bit irate, "You claim to be the leader, but as the captain, when Momo speaks, you dare not make a sound. Is that interesting?"

"If Momo made an incorrect command, I would naturally oppose and correct her, but so far, she hasn’t made any major mistakes." Luo’er said calmly, looking at an irritable Cheng Ziang.

Cheng Ziang heaved a heavy sigh, then said, "I don’t really understand what you two are up to. But I always feel that you claim to make Momo mature, yet you are still spoiling her. You’ve spoiled her many times before, do you really think she can grow this way?"
