Chapter 1172: Chapter 1165: The Real Culprit Behind the Scenes
"Talexil..." Cheng Ziang muttered to himself.
Just as he said the name, the attacker suddenly began to tremble all over, looking up at him with an expression of disbelief.
"Who is that person?" Cheng Ziang ignored him and continued to ask Fulajie’er.
"Seems like it’s his son or brother, anyway, it’s a male," Fulajie’er answered.
"Do you know where he is?" Cheng Ziang asked.
"Yes, those people promised to bring Talexil to Yazhi City for resettlement," Fulajie’er answered.
"Good, good, good," Cheng Ziang nodded repeatedly, showing a satisfied smile. Then, he squatted down in front of the terrified attacker, and said with a smile, "Talexil, Yazhi City, do we need to go find him?"
"How do you know, how do you know him?" The attacker, gripped by panic, asked with a shaky voice.
"Don’t answer a question with a question!" Cheng Ziang said.
Then, he stood up and turned to Hu Daoke, "Take some people to Yazhi City, find Talexil, and bring him back. If you can’t bring him back, just kill him!"
The last sentence sent chills around; although they knew he was acting, Hu Daoke and others couldn’t help but be shaken by his aura, nodding meekly, "Yes, we will go immediately..."
"Wait, wait, wait," suddenly, the attacker let out a desperate cry and said in a pleading tone, "Please don’t, please don’t do this, please spare him."
"Spare him, then did you spare Luo’er," Cheng Ziang suddenly rushed over, grabbed his hair, and glared at him, grinding his teeth, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, those are our rules. Since you care so much about your master, I will take it out on your family. Don’t call me despicable, for me, Luo’er is my family, understand?"
"I, I, I..." the attacker lowered his head, sobbing.
Cheng Ziang knew that his psychological defenses had been shaken, needing only one or two more pushes to completely break through. So, he changed his expression, showed a terrifying smile, and said to him, "Who is Talexil to you, is he your son, or your brother?"
"He is, he is..." the attacker stuttered.
"Ah, it doesn’t matter anymore, he is going to die either way. You don’t really think your master can save him, do you? If so, you are... greatly underestimating our capabilities," Cheng Ziang said with a smile.
"I say, I’ll confess everything, just please don’t harm Talexil, I beg you..." Under Cheng Ziang’s intimidation, the attacker’s psychological defenses completely collapsed, and he cried out dejectedly.
"That’s right, why can’t you just be honest without us having to go to such lengths?" Cheng Ziang showed a satisfied smile.
"Boss, who were you talking to just now?" a squad member approached, curiously asking.
"Artificial intelligence." Cheng Ziang didn’t elaborate, merely stating softly.
"Eh, the Otherworld also has artificial intelligence?" five Mobile Troop members asked excitedly.
"Don’t know, huh? Otherworld does have artificial intelligence, just with some limitations," Hu Daoke bragged.
"How do you wake her up?" a squad member curiously asked.
"What are you thinking? This artificial intelligence recognizes its owner, you think you can wake her up just like that? She wouldn’t even bother with you," Hu Daoke shrugged, saying proudly.
"Then can you guys wake her up?" the squad member asked unwillingly.
"Of course, we are... family!" Hu Daoke paused before saying.
"Can she materialize?" a squad member curiously asked.
"Oh yes, a very pretty little girl," Hu Daoke answered.
"Could you let us see it?" the crowd asked excitedly.
"I’ve said, you’re thinking too much, they won’t bother with you, just give up on that idea," Hu Daoke said.
"Why?" the crowd was greatly disappointed.
"This is an artificial intelligence from Otherworld, not the submissive AIs you have on Earth," Hu Daoke said, rolling his eyes.
"Alright, hurry up with the interrogation, and bring me the report afterwards. I’m going out to wash my hands!" Cheng Ziang glanced at the stains on his hands, frowned slightly, and then turned toward the exit.
After enduring Hu Daoke’s interrogation, Cheng Ziang finally got the intelligence he had hoped for. As expected, the real mastermind was none other than Fulanta’s adversary, Saiye Moray.
According to the intelligence, Saiye Moray was a typical Aud person, about forty to fifty years old, bald with a Mediterranean hairstyle, thin and tall, with a mustache.
This was all the intelligence the attacker could provide them. He came to the office, exchanged intelligence with Li Si, and unexpectedly obtained some interesting information.
The aristocrat whose hand was severed by Feng was named Pelas. Although he had attempted to attack Luo’er, since his hand was chopped off, the headquarters had let him go out of humanitarian concern instead of capturing him.
It seems he was not being honest, and since headquarters hadn’t settled accounts with these people in time, they teamed up to resist the government of Lipei District. Pelas had a close friend, none other than Saiye Moray.
At the time Pelas’s hand was chopped off, Saiye Moray was right beside him, so Cheng Ziang speculated that these two were likely the masterminds behind the entire movement against the Lipei District government.
"Well done!" The two hung clues on the whiteboard in the office and connected them with lines. Li Si looked at the board, full of notes and threads, and nodded in satisfaction.
"Now we just wait for good news from Fulanta. As long as he can infiltrate these people, we will be able to grasp their movements and information," Cheng Ziang said.
"Not bad, not bad," Li Si nodded repeatedly, "The boss was right to entrust this task to you."
"I’m just thinking of avenging Luo’er," Cheng Ziang said indifferently.
"Oh, speaking of Luo’er, someone just reported that he has woken up and is currently in good health. Resting for a while should heal him completely. Of course, when his condition is almost fine, bringing him back to Lipei for treatment with Healing Magic might speed up his recovery," Li Si said.
"As long as he is not dead," Cheng Ziang said nonchalantly, but he couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Leaving the office, Cheng Ziang headed to the open space. As he stepped off the stairs onto the ground, he immediately saw the imposing figures of Tangmo and Baiyue and knew in his heart he was in trouble.
"Why didn’t you tell us about Luo’er’s incident?" Tangmo was obviously here to seek answers, and due to the martial law, they couldn’t even visit Luo’er directly at the city hospital.
"If I had told you, what would you have done?" Cheng Ziang asked indifferently.
"I would kill that assassin!" Tangmo said through clenched teeth.
"And then, how would you find the real culprit behind this?" Cheng Ziang continued.
"I would use him to find the real mastermind and then kill them both," Tangmo answered.
"What if he gave you false information? What would you do then?" Cheng Ziang asked.
"What do you mean by that?" Tangmo’s expression changed as she stared at Cheng Ziang.
Cheng Ziang stepped close to her, shaking his head helplessly with a look of frustration, "Do you know why I didn’t want you to know? Because you are always so impulsive, so foolish, so romantically blinded. If I reacted like you, taking out my anger on that assassin because of Luo’er, then how could we find the real mastermind and avenge Luo’er?"
"Be rational, be clear-headed, can you do that, Sister Moumou? You aren’t young anymore; of all of us, only Luo’er is younger than you. You are supposed to be our elder sister, yet why are you always so naive and ignorant?"
After finishing, he left, passing by Tangmo with an astonished expression. When he passed Baiyue, she coldly asked, "Do you need my help?"
Hearing Baiyue’s words, Cheng Ziang turned his head to look at her. Facing her steadfast gaze, he nodded slightly and said, "You come join this case too, come help me."
