Chapter 1039: Chapter 1032: Warehouse Interrogation
"It seems we can only go and question that unlucky guy..." Cheng Ziang said, looking towards Luo’er.
"Wait, if I remember correctly, doesn’t Feng have a book that records martial techniques? Perhaps we could find some answers in there," Tangmo suddenly thought of something and took the initiative to speak up.
"That book..." Luo’er scratched his head as he racked his brains.
"It’s at the base," Baiyue reminded, "it was taken for research by Fula’s sister Nightingale and Teacher Zhu."
"Oh dear, that complicates things..." Luo’er said, slapping his head.
"Can we send a message to headquarters now to have them bring it over?" Cheng Ziang asked.
"No, that won’t work. The airboat has already departed. It’s not appropriate to ask them to turn back now, and it could delay our own schedule," Luo’er shook his head and said.
"Then it looks like we really can only go and interrogate that guy," Cheng Ziang shrugged his shoulders and then turned to look at Tangmo saying, "it’s lucky that Moumou didn’t kill him..."
"I wish I could strip the flesh from his bones!" Tangmo said with a stern face, gritting his teeth in anger.
"Alright, alright, it’s all in the past," Luo’er waved his hand to console, and after a small cough, commanded, "Ziang, you come with me to interrogate that guy, Moumou, you stay behind to take care of Feng, Yue’er and Little Ke will take charge of organizing everyone else."
"Understood!" Everyone responded in unison.
After the arrangement, Luo’er and Cheng Ziang walked towards the dilapidated warehouse where the man was kept. Cheng Ziang, looking at the expressionless Luo’er, smiled and shook his head saying, "You’re taking me with you to interrogate someone, looks like it’s going to get bloody again."
Hearing this, Luo’er blinked and then said, non-committally, "Let’s get the information first; no rash actions."
"Looks like you still hold a grudge after all, I thought you could bear even this kind of humiliation," Cheng Ziang said with a smile.
"If that guy is useful to headquarters, I can bear any humiliation. If he indeed has no value, even if he just dirtied my boots, I won’t let him off," Luo’er said, looking at him indifferently.
Hehehe," faced with an expressionless Luo’er, Cheng Ziang was not the least bit intimidated and laughed again before putting an arm around Luo’er’s shoulder and saying, "That’s more like it, that’s the you I have in mind."
"Stop with the hugging, what kind of behavior is this," Luo’er frowned, struggling and said, somewhat embarrassed.
"Ah, come on, if you can’t stand girls touching you, and can’t stand guys touching you, are you saying you like aliens or something?" Cheng Ziang leaned in and asked.
"Public place, mind the decorum!" Luo’er said with an embarrassed face.
The two joked and laughed as they entered the warehouse, spoke a few words to the militia at the door, and went inside, instructing the militia to lock the door behind them.
The man was securely tied up to a post, looking haggard, and was nowhere close to his earlier haughty demeanor. He had come to by the time the two men walked in, and upon seeing Luo’er and Cheng Ziang, he started howling furiously.
Luo’er moved a chair and sat down composedly, while Cheng Ziang stood behind him with his arms crossed, looking at the man glaring at them. Luo’er smiled and said, "Right now you must be thinking, if only you had killed me without hesitation back then, right?"
The man stared at Luo’er, teeth grinding together, clearly unable to vent the rage in his chest.
"Arrogance is the original sin of destruction," Luo’er said, looking at his palm, "I might never have beaten you in a head-on confrontation, but you fell victim to your own pride, which is truly a pity."
As he spoke, the man kept staring at him, teeth clenched, without saying a word. Luo’er sighed, then continued, "Don’t play dumb, I know you speak Tasta. If you don’t like my mockery, then let’s change the subject and talk about that lady you mentioned!"
The man still did not speak, clearly determined to be stubborn to the end. Seeing this, Luo’er picked up the man’s long sword from beside him, withdrew it from its sheath, and examined it for a moment.
This was a long sword unlike the style of this continent, sleek overall, double-edged, with a prominent ridge running along the middle, and the tip was exceptionally sharp, clearly designed for thrusting.
Seeing Luo’er touching his sword, the man became visibly agitated. He struggled violently, but it was no use; he was tied up so tightly that his limbs were almost deprived of qi and blood circulation.
"Do you want me to use this sword to chop off all ten of your toes? Don’t think I’m just threatening you; we do this sort of thing often," Luo’er said calmly, sheathed the long sword, and handed it to Cheng Ziang.
"You’ve destroyed my Qitian, severed my channels, what else is there to say!" the man’s face twitched as he gnashed his teeth, speaking in the grudging Tasta language.
"It was you who first hurt my people and even tried to kill all of us that led to such an end," Luo’er responded.
"All I wanted was to take the young lady back, what’s wrong with that?" the man said.
"But why did you want to kill the people of this village?" Luo’er asked.
"These people are all remnants of a curse. Anyone who sees them would kill them without hesitation, what’s wrong with that?" the man said through clenched teeth.
"What you’re doing is genocide; it’s a crime against humanity!" Luo’er stated coldly.
"Hehehe!!" The man suddenly burst out laughing, whether he understood Luo’er’s words or not.
"Your young lady would never harm you. Since you acknowledge her as your young lady, why won’t you listen to her or even injure her?" Luo’er asked.
"That’s because the young lady has been bewitched by you lot. Let me go quickly, and I might leave you a whole corpse, otherwise, once I break out..." the man said through gritted teeth.
"Stop pretending," Luo’er scoffed, "Your Qitian has been destroyed, where do you get the power to break free? You really think we’re clueless, arrogance requires capital."
"Aaargh!!" Hearing Luo’er’s words, the man screamed in pain and then said fiercely, "Once the young lady regains her senses, she will kill you all, you will pay a heavy price for what you have done today!!"
"Luo’er..." Hearing his words, Cheng Ziang looked towards Luo’er with some unease.
"I trust Feng, don’t listen to his provocation," Luo’er waved his hands and reassured him in Chinese.
Then, he turned to the man and continued, "Your young lady is still in pain from your beating. If you want her to come to her senses, at least relieve the pain on her body first."
"Hehehe," the man suddenly sneered and then said to Luo’er, "So, you’ve come for this, are you planning to beg me?"
"We don’t plan to beg you," Luo’er smiled and shrugged, "We’re all rough people, we don’t like the scholars’ way, we will force you to tell the truth."
As he spoke, Luo’er gestured slightly with his hand, Cheng Ziang understood his intention, nodded, and with a clanging sound drew his long sword.
"Ah, you want to use torture to extract information, then bring it on..." Seeing the gleaming long sword, rather than feeling fear, the man laughed provocatively.
"Wait a minute." Seeing his behavior, Luo’er calmly stopped Cheng Ziang and narrowed his eyes at him.
They still weren’t familiar with this man, so no one knew whether he had a trick up his sleeve, so the best way now was to avoid direct contact and guard against desperate actions.
After halting Cheng Ziang, Luo’er pulled out his pistol from his waist, checked it briefly, chambered a round, and, staring at the handgun, murmured to himself, "I’ve been wondering, is your life worth sparing? Now I’ve come to see, people like you won’t shed tears without seeing the coffin!"
With that, he raised the pistol towards the man’s shin and fired without hesitation.
Bang!!!
The loud gunshot echoed through the warehouse, and after it faded, it was replaced by the man’s agonizing screams. Devoid of magic’s protection, the man’s body was incredibly frail in front of the handgun; the bullet easily shattered his shinbone and exited through the back of his heel, bringing flesh and bone with it, making for a bloody sight.
