Chapter 1036: Chapter 1029: Turning Defeat into Victory

"Yes, yes..." Luo’er humbly bowed his head, using his own clothing to wipe the mud stains off the man’s boots, his disheveled hair covering his face, preventing the arrogant man from looking down upon Luo’er’s eyes.

Feigning weakness before an enemy was one of Luo’er’s favorite tactics. Pride could make even the most powerful person lower their guard and fall victim to treachery. Luo’er never considered himself to be particularly noble, so he was willing to play along with the man’s charade.

"Lick it with your tongue!" the man sneered.

"Yes, yes..." Luo’er nodded softly and then lowered his head to lick the mud stains from the man’s boots with his tongue.

The man had indeed fallen into Luo’er’s trap of feigned weakness and failed to assess him and his armed forces, simply thinking Luo’er was nothing more than a mercenary captain who had been scared out of his wits.

The onlookers hiding in the shadows saw Luo’er’s abject demeanor, and even someone as calm and rational as Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but grind his teeth in anger.

However, if one disregarded the insult, the boots of the man were at worst covered in mud tainted with the smell of blood, which Luo’er found bearable.

"Do you know the young lady?" Seeing Luo’er diligently serving him, the man lowered his guard, stuck his sword into the ground, and looked down at him as he asked.

"Yes, yes, my lord..." Luo’er replied respectfully.

"How did you come to know her?" the man continued.

"I—I was passing through a village in Otland when I saw her all alone, so I took her in..." Luo’er made up an excuse on the spot.

"Do you know who she is?" the man stepped on Luo’er’s head and bent down to ask contemptuously.

"I don’t know, I really don’t know..." Luo’er answered anxiously, his eyes constantly tracking the man’s sword stuck in the ground.

"Hmph hmph," hearing Luo’er’s response, the man laughed noncommittally, then stood upright and looked around before asking, "Are you the mercenaries these remnants have hired?"

"Yes..." Luo’er replied.

"And do you still wish to protect them now?" the man asked with a smile.

"I dare not, I simply dare not. If my lord wishes to make a move, I won’t stop you, I only ask that my lord spare my life." Luo’er stammered.

"Hehe, you foreigners have no backbone at all, always so greedy for life and fearful of death," the man rested his hand on the hilt of his sword as if he thought of something, then looked down at Luo’er and proposed, "How about this? Call all your men over and help me eliminate these remnants, and I’ll spare your lives. What do you say?"

"Is that truly what my lord means?" Luo’er showed an excited emotion and asked in surprise.

"Mhm, of course. Killing so many people would take a lot of effort and drain my energy..." the man said casually, but his expression quickly changed.

Above Luo’er’s head, a buzzing sound disappeared in an instant, and Luo’er, so close, thought he heard a "plop," followed by the man’s face turning ashen as he involuntarily bent over.

He tried to grasp the sword hilt to steady himself, but at that moment, Luo’er suddenly burst into action. He sprang up like an arrow released from its bow, his head striking the man’s nose and mouth heavily as the man was bending over.

As he sprung up, Luo’er also extended his left hand to forcefully hold the man’s hand down, preventing him from getting the chance to grasp his sword and pull it from the ground.

The impact from Luo’er was effective; he savagely hit the man in the nose and mouth area, making a horrifying sound of breaking bones. The man was forced to straighten up, blood spurting from his mouth and nose as he cried out.

Immediately following, without a moment’s hesitation, Luo’er kept a tight grip on the man’s wrist with his left hand, while extending his right leg behind the man’s legs, and with his right hand shaped like an eagle’s claw, he forcefully grasped the man’s throat.

This was a classic grappling move. Utilizing the force of his leap, Luo’er gripped the man’s neck tightly, pushing him backward. The man’s legs were tripped by Luo’er’s right leg, and the grip on his neck made him unstable. With no chance to resist, he was pressed to the ground by Luo’er.

The man was forcefully pushed down into the muddy ground by Luo’er, even splattering high mounds of sludge. His head slammed heavily into the ground, and although the sludge provided some cushioning, it still jarred his skull with a buzzing sound.

After subduing the man, Luo’er did not take a long breath of relief. Instead, he straddled the man, grabbed the collar of his shirt with his right hand, and forcibly turned him over to lie face down on the ground.

Then, he twisted the man’s right arm behind his back, creating a triangular lock. Next, his right hand passed through the triangle, and then he forcefully lifted upward.

"Crack!"

A sharp sound rang out, accompanied by the man’s pig-like screams. Luo’er brutally snapped his arm, leaving him no sliver of a chance to fight back.

Having completed this step, Luo’er did not stop there. He reached out to pull out the long sword planted in the ground, then used his foot to kick the man’s limp and powerless right hand onto the ground. After briefly aiming, he thrust directly into the man’s wrist.

"Aaaaah!!!"

The man screamed even more miserably. Luo’er’s sword was exceptionally sharp, and he easily severed the ulna at the wrist without much effort, driving it deep into the mud.

After finishing all this, Luo’er finally took a breath of relief, then looked at the man wailing on the ground as if his heart were being torn apart, couldn’t help wiping his mouth, and then turned to spit out the mud from his mouth.

Just as he straightened his back, members of the Advance Team immediately rushed out from around the corner and gathered beside Luo’er.

"Luo’er..." Tangmo looked at Luo’er with distress, using her sleeve to wipe the filth from his face as if she was about to cry.

"I’m fine now..." Luo’er grabbed her hand, smiled slightly, and said.

"Bastard, why don’t you keep messing with my boss!" Hu Daoke rushed forward angrily and kicked the man several times with such force that the man curled up. However, his wrist was nailed to the ground by Luo’er, rendering him immovable.

"Enough, enough, don’t kick him anymore, he’ll die if you do, hurry up and hold him down, don’t let him move around." Cheng Ziang intervened to stop Hu Daoke.

Of course, he was not stopping Hu Daoke out of pity for the man. Once Hu Daoke had pinned the man down, Cheng Ziang drew his long knife, then kicked the man’s other hand onto the ground and stepped on it.

After briefly aiming, he raised his knife and cleanly severed the man’s left palm at the wrist, causing blood to spurt forth, forming a small pool of blood on the muddy ground.

"Damn, you’re even more ruthless than me," Hu Daoke said, staring at him wide-eyed.

"Only this can ensure safety," Cheng Ziang said indifferently, then turned to Tangmo and commanded, "Moumou, stop wiping and come over to treat his wound and stop the bleeding, or this guy will be dead for sure."

"Why bother saving him, I’d rather have him sliced to pieces!" Tangmo turned, saying viciously.

"Come on, stop getting angry. Luo’er wants a living witness. You’d do better to help him by dealing with it than fussing over him," Cheng Ziang said.

"Go on, Moumou, I’m already fine," Luo’er said, trying to reassure her.

Tangmo looked up at Luo’er, then turned to glance at the man. Despite her reluctance, she complied with Luo’er’s order, took out her Magic Wand, and with a scowl, walked over to the man.

"Alright, I’ll check on Feng’s situation, Luo’er, you stay and make the arrangements!" Seeing that Tangmo had started to act, Cheng Ziang said to Luo’er.

"Alright, go ahead," Luo’er nodded, then turned and shouted commands, "Little Ke, go call some villagers over, have them find some bags to fill with sand and soil to plug the gap, hurry up!"

"Yes!" Hu Daoke responded, then turned and ran towards the houses.
