Chapter 1033: Chapter 1026: The Man with a Ponytail
Following her gaze, he saw a Beastman attempting to flee into the forest. He had just reached the edge of the forest when he suddenly let out a brief scream, then was vertically cleaved in two by something, his internal organs and brains scattering on the ground.
Others might not have felt it, but Feng could clearly sense that what killed the Beastman was an invisible sword Qi—it was the same invisible sword Qi that she used most often.
Feeling the presence of danger approaching, Feng gritted her teeth, her hand gripping the long knife tightly as her eyes stared fixedly in that direction.
Before long, a figure slowly emerged from the woods. He was carrying a long sword, wearing a large hood and cloak, with his face completely obscured.
After slaying the Beastman, the man with the long sword hung it low and walked out slowly from the woods. Seeming to sense Feng’s presence, he lifted his head and when his gaze met Feng’s, his eyes noticeably brightened.
Then, he quickly walked towards Feng and stopped around ten meters from her, removed his hood and said something that everyone else found incomprehensible.
This was a young man with dark long hair tied into a high ponytail. His features were exquisite, different from those of any Human Race in the Otherworld, possessing the charm of a young noble from the south of the river. At the sight of this man, Aunt Axia couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.
"What’s wrong, Aunt Axia?" Luo’er asked, turning his head upon hearing her exclamation.
"It’s him, the strange man I encountered back at home!" Axia said, pointing at the man in surprise.
"Strange..." Luo’er paused, then quickly realized something was amiss, so he turned his head and exchanged a glance with Cheng Ziang.
"Hey, stay where you are, or we’ll open fire!" Hu Daoke didn’t join their discussion and, seeing the man with a weapon approaching Feng, immediately aimed at him and issued a warning.
Hearing Hu Daoke’s warning, the man looked around, noticed everyone on the fence, then revealed a disdainful cold smile before continuing to call out to Feng in a language that everyone found unintelligible.
Although Luo’er and the others were proficient in Chinese, English, and Tasta language, Feng only knew Tasta language, so it was even less likely she understood what the man was saying.
After expending a lot of effort, the man finally realized that Feng had not understood a word he said. Taking a deep breath, he then spoke in a very awkward Tasta language, "Miss, I hope you’re unharmed."
"He can speak Tasta language," Luo’er said, surprised.
"He and Feng must both come from the same place; look, he seems to recognize Feng!" Ziang said coolly.
"Luo’er, this person doesn’t seem to bear good intentions..." Tangmo whispered to Luo’er.
"Mhm," Luo’er nodded in agreement, then focused on the man and said, "Everyone, stay alert and don’t let him get any closer to Feng."
"Miss, don’t you recognize me? When you were a child, I held you in my arms," the man said with a smile, gazing at Feng.
"He’s talking nonsense," Baiyue said, "The prophet said that Feng was sent to this continent as a baby, how could she possibly remember anyone holding her."
"Hmm," Luo’er frowned, feeling increasingly uneasy, so he lifted his head and called out softly, "Fula, are you there?"
"Yes, I’m here, what’s up, Luo’er?" through his mind, the gentle voice of Fulajie’er eased Luo’er considerably.
"Can you feel his field?" Luo’er asked.
"Yes, very distinctly, just as distinct as Feng’s!" Fulajie’er confirmed.
"I thought so," Luo’er nodded slightly, then turned to Baiyue and commanded, "Yue’er, find a way to increase the distance, get out of that guy’s field range, and set up a silenced sniper to lock on him."
"Got it, I’m on it!" Baiyue nodded vigorously, without asking Luo’er for the reason. Upon receiving the order, she immediately turned and leaped from the fence to search for a vantage point.
"What, planning to take him down?" Cheng Ziang glanced back at Baiyue and then turned to Luo’er to ask.
"I always feel uneasy," Luo’er said, furrowing his brow.
"Me too... Strong enemies always make one feel uneasy," Cheng Ziang nodded and responded.
"Who, who are you?" After staring blankly for a long while, Feng finally spoke up, tilting her head and asking curiously.
"Miss, don’t you recognize me? I am your loyal servant. I have been searching for you for over a decade..." the man said, and then, regardless of the muddy and bloody ground, knelt down on the spot, plunging his long sword into the soil.
Following that, he assumed a strange posture, which seemed to be some sort of ritual posture.
Despite his efforts to show goodwill, Feng remained unmoved, standing still, staring at him with a numb expression.
"It looks like the miss has completed her spiritual practice," the man looked around and then said with a smile, "If the master knew, he would surely be delighted. Come now, miss, come home with me."
As he spoke, he stretched out a hand, beckoning Feng to come to his side and leave with him.
Feng was evidently encountering such a situation for the first time, so the normally invincible her finally showed a hint of timidity. She turned her head and looked at Luo’er with wide, uneasy eyes, seeking his opinion.
"I am Feng’s guardian. If you have any issues, you can speak to me. Don’t try to abduct Feng; it’s very rude," Luo’er declared loudly to the man, supporting himself against the perimeter wall.
Hearing Luo’er’s words, the man raised his head and, upon seeing Luo’er, he displayed a contemptuous smile and jocularly said, "An Elf, how interesting..."
It seemed that from the very beginning, his eyes had only been set on Feng; he had not deigned to give the others a proper glance. This disrespectful attitude made the group quite dissatisfied with him and also filled them with deep animosity.
After scanning Luo’er, the man continued to survey the others. Suddenly, his gaze focused on Taran, and the smile on his face vanished instantly. Pointing at Taran, he said excitedly, "You escapees, still not entirely wiped out. So you were indeed lucky enough to have fled back then. It seems that today I must not only take the miss away but also completely exterminate you vermin."
Hearing this, he pulled the long sword out of the ground, gripping it tightly in his hand. Seeing his hostile stance, Feng too refused to show weakness. She held her long knife across her body in a defensive posture, her warning clear without words.
"Why would the miss want to protect these remnants? The master would certainly be very angry if he saw this," the man said, stunned, and then added coldly.
"Step back ten paces, or else I’ll make my move!" Feng replied just as coldly.
"All units, be combat-ready!" Seeing the tension between them reach a breaking point, Luo’er waved his hand and commanded.
"The miss intends to stand against me for the sake of these remnants, truly incomprehensible. Do you, with just the miss and these riffraff, really think you can defeat me? It’s simply naive..." the man said, his eyes suddenly widening as he burst into a sickly, vicious grin.
"Surely the newcomer is up to no good, but what exactly is his origin?" Luo’er muttered, frowning in thought.
"If you want to find out, the best way is to capture him alive!" Cheng Ziang commented from the side.
"But," Luo’er hesitated, "he seems to possess abilities like Feng’s. How do we capture him alive?"
"Attack his abdomen," Tangmo suddenly interjected.
"Attack the abdomen?" Both turned their heads in unison to look at her.
"Exactly," Tangmo nodded firmly, then continued, "If his abilities are like Feng’s, then his weak point should be the same as hers."
With that, she turned to face Luo’er, coughed slightly, and went on, "Do you remember our conversation about Feng’s physical structure? Feng’s body has abnormally thick meridians for circulating magic, and there’s an organ in her abdomen, just below her navel, designed to store high concentrations of magic power, what we refer to as the Dantian. In other words..."
"In other words," Cheng Ziang concluded coldly, "if we attack his Dantian, we can force him to be unable to use the magic power stored within his body. People like him can’t absorb magic power from the atmosphere at will like Mages do, hence he would have no magic to use. Without magic, he’s at most just an ordinary man who can wield a sword."
"Very well, we’ll do it that way. Have Fula notify Yue’er that once the battle starts, we’ll first target his abdominal Dantian!" Luo’er said, nodding.
