Chapter 96: Chapter 88: Meeting of Two Races (Available Tomorrow)
This area was a vast oasis, where flocks of migratory birds could be seen flying overhead, and tender green grass rooted in clumps across the desert, with patches of ground not being contiguous but rather independent from each other.
In the oasis, various small beasts could be spotted, and upon seeing any human figure, they immediately fled without a trace.
The outline of the temple became clear, and Basel carefully sized it up.
This temple was constructed from huge stones and boulders, the stone walls adorned with various colored paintings. Perhaps due to the limited capabilities of the Three-eyed Ape People, the temple was not capped and was in a semi-open state.
Before Logos’s people had stepped into that temple, they saw those Three-eyed Ape People.
Basel scrutinized the group; their appearances were similar to the people of Logos, hairless except for the hair on their heads and beards, and their bodies covered in dense brownish fur which resembled that of apes but was shorter.
They were not very tall, a head shorter than the people of Logos, yet they weren’t considered short, roughly equivalent to one and half times the height of a squatting gorilla.
The stuttering poet stared directly at the foreheads of the Three-eyed Ape People and indeed noticed a third eye, partially open.
"It is them, the Logos people who had come before!"
A female Three-eyed Ape People excitedly exclaimed.
They recognized the vanguard.
The excitement spread quickly among the Three-eyed Ape People, and they crowded in front of the temple, curiously eying this group of Logos people who had traveled from afar.
Following that, a Three-eyed Ape elder emerged from the temple, wearing a necklace of bones and leaning on a walking stick.
"It’s you, Lan Boxi."
The Ape elder recognized Lan Boxi and smiled.
Clearly, the Logos people had made a favorable impression on the Three-eyed Ape People.
Lan Boxi slightly nodded and then said,
"Salas, I and my people have come to visit you."
The elder, named Salas, slowly nodded and then sized up the other four Logos people.
"Hello, I am Salas, the elder here."
Faced with the friendly Three-eyed Ape elder, several people from Logos also fully expressed their goodwill, introducing themselves one by one to Salas.
The other Three-eyed Ape People, listening to the voices of the Logos people and observing their appearances and statures, exclaimed variously:
"Their voices are so pleasant."
"So beautiful."
"So fair, how can they be so white?"
"They don’t have fur, huh? Why are their ears so pointed?"
...
The Three-eyed Ape People chattered about the Logos people who had come from afar.
The five members of the vanguard felt somewhat uneasy under such scrutiny.
Elder Salas, leaning on his walking stick, smiled genially at these Logos people and then cleared his throat, signaling for the other Three-eyed Ape People to quiet down.
"Why have you come here? Did you get lost in the desert again?"
Elder Salas asked, looking at the Logos people.
Before Lan Boxi could speak, Bandi took the lead:
"Honorable Elder Salas, we carry a mission entrusted by our King to establish a friendship with you."
Bandi, with his impressive appearance and crisp, melodious voice, led the Three-eyed Ape People to sigh in admiration.
"Establishing friendship?"
Elder Salas’s eyes brightened, excitedly asking,
"Do you wish to establish friendship with us? Oh, our gods have mentioned you."
The excited words of Elder Salas left everyone puzzled.
"Your gods... have mentioned us?"
The female hunter Hiboli asked.
Realizing something, Elder Salas scratched his head.
"It’s difficult to explain here."
Then, turning around and pointing inside the temple, he continued,
"Come inside, we have wall paintings."
The vanguard exchanged glances and nods before following the elder deeper into the open-air temple.
The elder led the people to a deeper part of the temple, rubbed his third eye, then pointed to a wall.
"Look there."
The Logos people looked up.
On the mural, it depicted the Prophetic God Kagawus, holding a stone tablet symbolizing prophecy, reaching out from a crack in the sky; then the Three-eyed Ape People appeared, crawling before Kagawus.
"This is Kagawus, He should be the Creator God, the creator."
Creator God, the creator?
The Logos people looked at each other upon hearing this, finding it utterly absurd.
Basel couldn’t help himself and blurted out a question:
"Should, should be?"
Elder Salas turned around and then nodded forcefully,
"Yes, my ancestors told me that He only claimed to be the Prophetic God.
But my ancestors guessed that Kagawus might be the Creator God, the creator.
You see,
He created us, beings with reason,
Could He just be an ordinary Prophetic God?"
Elder Salas stated matter-of-factly.
The Logos people couldn’t help but laugh.
The so-called Kagawus being the Creator God, the creator, was merely a naïve speculation, a whimsical fancy of the Three-eyed Ape People.
Bandi stepped forward and said:
"Elder, as we know, it was the God of the Logos people who created the world, He is the light that split the darkness, bringing life from beneath the water to land."
Upon hearing this, Elder Salas frowned, rubbing his third eye in distress.
"Your God?
We haven’t seen...
We’ve only seen Kagawus."
Seeing this, Bandi wanted to say more.
The pure-hearted and wise Elder Salas then said:
"Your words cause me pain.
How can we build a friendship if we cling to our differences?"
Bandi was immediately silenced by these words and could only silently step back.
Then, Basel asked:
"Elder, how do you, know about, ours?"
Basel stuttered, needing to speak one word at a time to make himself clear.
Elder Salas responded:
"Kagawus mentioned you to my ancestors. However, for some reason, He wasn’t willing to say much."
Elder Salas’s tone carried a hint of confusion.
What he didn’t know was,
Hundreds of years ago, due to Dertulian’s resistance, the Gods were helpless regarding the faith of the Logos people.
Naturally, the Gods were also unwilling to mention this history before their own creation.
At this point, Elder Salas changed the topic:
"Logos people, my friends, what gifts will you bring us?"
Being bestowed with intelligence only three hundred years ago, the Three-eyed Ape People were straightforward, speaking directly.
Members of the Vanguard looked at each other, exchanging glances.
Finally, Bandi, of the royal blood, stepped forth,
"Wheat, cattle, sheep, pottery...
Even precious copper!
The Logos people are willing to share the wisdom of a great civilization, the fruits of civilization with another race!"
In this ancient open-air Temple,
The Logos people created by God, and the Three-eyed Ape People created by the Gods, were to declare their friendship.
This was a meeting between two races.
It was also the first contact between two civilizations.
