Chapter 69: Chapter 65 Yarlessto’s Nightmare
Dertulian was defeated.
As he saw flames descending from the sky, his entire spirit shook with terror.
The immense Dragon Flame fell upon the earth, and the cries of the people of Logos resonated instantly. The land was blanketed with ash in a blink, the flames making no distinction between slave and soldier. The Giant Dragon Aus intended to bring destruction upon these people of Logos.
The raging fires spread over the bodies of the people of Logos, rendering the entire city-state a sea of flames. Wails of anguish and cries of sorrow rose along with the panicked fleeing, as the people of Logos frantically moved closer to the sea and jumped into the waters.
Dertulian watched the terrifying Dragon Flame engulf the earth. The Giant Dragon Aus let out a victorious roar as the spear in his hand trembled uncontrollably. He had never seen a beast like it.
It was like... the end of days, compelling one to prostrate themselves.
The primal fear of life overwhelmed Dertulian as he breathed rapidly, legs trembling, and the spear in his hand almost dropped.
Divine King Shan En looked at Dertulian.
Perhaps now...
This descendant of Al was filled with such fear, such despair. If he would offer a helping hand at this moment, demonstrate a miracle, and grant him the thunder to slay the dragon.
Then... he could, like the father in history, select his own Prophet on earth!
He wanted to touch the helpless Dertulian at this moment.
"The Father has already declined.
And I, shall be your new God."
A soul constructed from lightning extended its finger, with thunder gleaming on its tip.
The spokesperson of thunder was about to walk upon the earth, as Dertulian’s original devotion would instantly transform into loyalty towards the Gods.
The descendants of Al would act according to the Gods’ will in the future, not by human will.
Shan En felt that such a scene was near.
The brilliance of the thunder left His hand, exited the Celestial Kingdom and was about to strike.
Shan En saw Dertulian suddenly lift his head.
Dertulian looked into the distance, his gaze seemingly resting on someone.
In a flash, Dertulian raised his spear, and for some reason, suppressed all his fear and terror.
Shan En followed Dertulian’s gaze.
There, a king was leading a charge.
King Yarlessto, bracing for the potentially whooshing Dragon Flame at any moment, bellowed the holy name of God and led his elite warriors against the Giant Dragon as a hero.
Dertulian knew that his brother had been a priest, that Yarlessto was not a Hunter, he had no valor.
Despair extinguished the flames in his heart, then his brother’s figure plucked at the deepest strings of his soul.
Dertulian surged forward, gripping the spear tight in his hands.
The Giant Dragon Aus naturally noticed the charging King Yarlessto and the layers of soldiers behind the king.
Aus scoffed and exhaled, then spread his wings and dived at great speed.
His massive claws slashed at King Yarlessto at meteoric speed, too fast for anyone to dodge.
King Yarlessto’s eyes widened; even now, he still clenched his spear.
He thrust the spear tip straight towards Aus’s palm, as one might attempt to stop a chariot with their arm.
There was a crisp snap.
The brass-forged spear broke sharply. Even though Yarlessto managed to dodge to the left in time, the claw still pierced his side.
Yarlessto was flung away, falling heavily to the ground, unconscious.
"Yarlessto!"
Dertulian’s eyes turned blood-red as he screamed, anger igniting unimaginable strength within him,
"Oh God, I implore your blessing."
As soon as he spoke, a leaf on his chest emitted a barely perceptible glow.
Dertulian did not notice the glow, his body occupied by rage, as he sprinted towards the Giant Dragon Aus.
He leapt and, seemingly unable to reach the dragon, found an opportune moment when the dragon’s tail flicked backward as it took flight, and Dertulian jumped onto its tail.
He shoved the spear deep into the gaps of the Dragon Scales with all his might. The powerful strength of his arms drove the spear firmly into the flesh.
The Giant Dragon Aus let out a howl and, spreading its wings, soared high into the vault of the sky.
Dertulian gripped the spear firmly, ignoring how much the dragon’s tail thrashed, standing defiantly atop it. He nearly fell to the ground several times, but his luck was apparently extraordinary.
As the form of the Giant Dragon Aus stabilized in the sky, Dertulian pulled out the spear and began to climb towards the dragon’s head, scaling the Dragon Scales.
At this moment, Dertulian’s outstanding hunter instincts were in full display. Amid the relentless gusts in mid-air, he still managed to grip the protruding Dragon Scales firmly and step by step, approached closer to the dragon’s head.
Of course, the Giant Dragon Aus noticed him. It let out an intimidating roar; however, the more it roared, the more Dertulian’s rage surged.
He watched the dragon as it set out to take the life of his brother, to take the life of his only kin.
Dertulian faced the roar. As the dragon tossed its massive body in the sky, Dertulian stood upon it, staggering but just missing the winds time and again.
Such "just" occurrences happened more than once.
He pressed forward with all his might and finally reached the Giant Dragon Aus’s eye.
The dragon turned and saw Dertulian, first with astonishment in its great head at the idea that such a small creature could threaten its life, followed by anger that made its scales bristle.
