Chapter 57: Chapter 53 Thunderbolt Star and Its Soul
Although Yarlessto had received the proposal to domesticate wild beasts from Antion,
it was still fraught with difficulties.
For, since the great flood, many beasts had either been washed away or had fled.
As Yarlessto was worrying about how to domesticate the animals, a servant came to report news.
"King,
our granary that stored wheat ears has been ransacked by a group of wild boars!"
Yarlessto raised his head, intending to arrange for the Hunters to hunt the wild boars.
Suddenly, he had an idea.
Yarlessto stood up abruptly.
While he was in his predicament, wild boars had trespassed into the Kingdom.
This was surely God’s covert blessing.
"Summon the strong Hunters, and tell them to take no weapons, to catch the wild boars with bare hands, and not to let a single one escape."
Yarlessto issued the orders at a rapid pace, then paused and added,
"Dertulian, let him lead these men to catch the wild boars, remember, do not kill them."
After the servant received the orders, though puzzled, he hurriedly left the palace to convey the King’s will to Dertulian and the Hunters.
Yarlessto stood up and paced in the palace, silently waiting.
Time passed slowly, but fortunately, having lived as a Priest, Yarlessto had enough patience. As the sun gradually set, he received a report from the servant as dusk approached.
"King, as per your command, all the wild boars have been captured, one died from a collision, two escaped, and the remaining seventeen have been tied up."
"Good, good, good."
Yarlessto said excitedly,
"This is truly God’s protection."
King Yarlessto walked unhurriedly down from the palace, led by the servant, toward the granary where the Logos people stored wheat ears.
Near the granary, quite a few Logos people gathered, looking at the struggling wild boars on the ground and chattering about, with the influential Elders discussing amongst themselves how to divide the spoils.
Upon King Yarlessto’s arrival, everyone immediately quieted down and patiently awaited the King’s instructions.
Yarlessto looked at the seventeen wild boars on the ground, hearing their pitiful wailing, and Dertulian stood triumphantly on the most robust one, informing the King and the servants that his brother had subdued the Boar King alone.
After examining the group of wild boars, Yarlessto then declared his will.
"Put these wild boars in a house. Starve them for two days to weaken their strength and will, then feed them wild fruits and grains."
Yarlessto made the decision on the spot, a good remedy discoursed with the other wise Priests.
Thus, the Logos people followed King Yarlessto’s commands, emptying out a somewhat large house and, after knocking the wild boars unconscious, threw them inside, and they opened a hole up high in the house to watch the boars’ movements.
From this point on, the Logos people began the dawn of animal husbandry.
This primal civilization had mastered the wheat bestowed by God and was inspired to domesticate animals by the Unihorn.
They tilled the land, raised livestock, hailed the son of the Prophet Yarlessto as King, settled beneath the mountains, and worshipped and praised the God who saved mankind.
This was the first millennium of the Kingdom’s establishment, later known in history as the First Millennial Era.
Celestial Kingdom.
In the pitch-black night sky, groups of stars moved along their orbits.
As Mars first fell among the stars, those stars which had acquired free will deviated from their orbits, one after another. Countless stars, without the slightest hesitation, blindly and recklessly changed direction, ready to invade and encroach upon the paths of other stars.
They were like newly born calves, unable to control even their own actions.
The stars even collided with each other, and it was not rare for stars to shatter within the Celestial Kingdom.
Until now, under the leadership of the oldest "History" star, the stars had barely calmed down and moved according to their original orbits.
Undoubtedly, the stars had gained souls, and they were no longer manipulated by the Primordial Will.
However, for the stars, possessing souls was not necessarily a fortunate matter.
They did not know why they came into existence, what their purpose was, or where they were headed.
When a beast is born, it is aware that it is a beast, driven by three biological instincts—hunger, cold, and reproduction—which manipulate the beast, teaching it to recognize that it is indeed a beast.
But it was different for the stars.
Roaming within the Celestial Kingdom, the stars had no biological instincts, nor did they possess any desire to survive.
They did not experience hunger or cold, nor could they reproduce.
A feeling of confusion and unease spread among these soul-bearing stars.
Until today, perhaps there had been some change.
There was a star clad in yellow and blue, surrounded by endless lightning, slowly approaching the edge of the Celestial Kingdom.
This star was much larger than the others, a perpetual storm of lightning from inside out, occasionally twisting the surrounding space with the force of the overflowing lightning.
The Thunderbolt Star, compared to other stars, was obviously more intelligent. If one could set foot on this star, they would see a vague humanoid figure composed of lightning standing upon its surface.
It was among the first within the Celestial Kingdom to form intelligence and the ability to think.
Even though its intelligence and thought process were inferior to that of a magpie, it was still a big step forward for the countless stars of the Celestial Kingdom.
The Thunderbolt Star left its orbit and came to the edge of the Celestial Kingdom, where there were no other stars around. It gathered a massive storm of thunderbolts at the center. After a long while, it released the accumulated thunderbolts.
The cold lightning struck the night sky, and space was momentarily torn open, the lightning like a giant spear briefly piercing through the Ancient Chaos surrounding the Celestial Kingdom.
The world’s light came into the Celestial Kingdom.
The Thunderbolt Star edged closer to the tear, curiously observing the scene of the outside world.
The vast azure firmament, the boundless and mysterious deep sea, and the rich, verdant expanse of land left the Thunderbolt Star transfixed. In the Primordial Forest below, countless fascinations of creatures leaped about, and within the turbid lakes, life teemed, the calls of insects and birds sounding as though they were just within reach. The Thunderbolt Star, gazing upon all this, was struck by an unparalleled shock.
The storm on the star’s surface calmed slightly.
The soul formed of lightning extended its hand toward this grand outer world.
In an instant, the tear sealed shut.
The Ancient Chaos rolled, beginning to repair the damage caused by the thunderbolts.
The Celestial Kingdom would soon return to its original state.
Only the figure of a soul, flickering with lightning, remained, retracting its hand in solitude.
