Chapter 56: Chapter 52: Discovery of Animal Husbandry
Yarlessto spoke, the unicorn horn in his hand glowing faintly.
This broken horn had come from the Unihorn whale that had once beached itself in front of God, and naturally, an invisible spiritual link had been established between Yarlessto and the broken horn.
The broken horn seemed to understand his question and then turned its head to bump against other Unihorn whales on the water’s surface, starting to sing the Song of the Whale to communicate.
Yarlessto watched the group of friendly Unihorn whales communicating for a good while, then the broken horn, as if it had received some kind of permission, came closer, turned around, and motioned for Yarlessto to mount it.
Logos’ new King approached it, sat on top, and since Unihorn whales had no dorsal fins, he held onto the broad back of the broken horn.
The guards came over anxiously, and Yarlessto gestured with his hands for them not to worry.
The Unihorn whales gathered around the broken horn, they all exerted force together, the seawater parted, and Yarlessto and the broken horn slowly descended.
Yarlessto’s body submerged into the seawater, but his head could still breathe fresh air, carried by the broken horn towards the seabed.
The underwater scenery was lush and intricate, with the glow of the sea surface penetrating into the water, the currents were exceedingly gentle, and it seemed as if there was wind at the bottom of the sea, making the coral reefs sway.
Yarlessto noticed that there were no drifting fish or shrimp around.
Had they all been gathered together?
The broken horn carried Yarlessto along, singing the Song of the Whale as they went.
Soon after, a response to the Song of the Whale echoed from ahead, and a massive Unihorn whale approached from the depths, regard Yarlessto in a friendly manner.
Gripping the unicorn horn, Yarlessto knew from the spiritual link with the broken horn that this was a female Unihorn whale, one of the leaders of the Unihorn whales.
Unihorn whales lived in a matrilineal society, generally led by the oldest female whale as the Queen, due to their longer lifespan and the accumulation of extensive survival experience.
However, Yarlessto had not yet met the Whale King of the Unihorn whales.
The mother Unihorn whale turned her head and swam ahead of the broken horn.
Continuing to swim deeper, Yarlessto moved forward and saw an astonishing sight.
Countless coral reefs floated up, forming a sparse net, at the center of which one could see numerous fish and shrimp breeding and thriving, with currents outside the coral blocking the escape of fish and shrimp.
"Do you use the currents to trap these fish and shrimps so that their offspring can continue to produce more offspring?"
Yarlessto said, amazed.
Looking at the encircled fish and shrimp, Logos’ new King gradually conceived the concept of aquaculture.
The broken horn understood his meaning, nodded, and continued to lead Yarlessto forward.
Yarlessto looked ahead and saw that there was more than one coral-formed water net. As they went along, there seemed to be countless water nets beneath the sea, housing varieties of fish and shrimp and aquatic plants or plankton that fed the fish and shrimp.
When the broken horn brought him to a place far from land, Yarlessto even saw a vast swirl of water, solidifying into an impenetrable wall of water. These increasingly intelligent Unihorn whales had actually contained a small segment of the sea area!
This community, like the Logos people, had been endowed with reason by God and followed God’s commands to live alongside the Logos people. Therefore, they had to settle near the coastal waters of the Kingdom.
And because of the need to settle,
The Unihorn whales learned ancient aquaculture from the Prehistoric Era, inspiring this new King of Logos.
"Praise you, praise God! He has given you to us, to be our brethren."
Yarlessto kept exclaiming, looking at the astonishing marvel before him, as the door to a new world opened a crack to him.
...............
...............
Several days passed.
Yarlessto attempted to replicate the success of the Unihorn whales in aquaculture.
He obtained some fish and shrimp from the Unihorn whales and released these creatures that lived in the sea into the lakes of the Kingdom.
However, contrary to his wishes, a large number of these fish and shrimp died within a dozen days.
Their corpses floated on the surface of the lake, emitting bursts of foul odor.
Yarlessto and the Priestly Sages looked at this scene from afar and couldn’t help shaking their heads.
"Oh King, is this really how the Unihorn whales make the fish and shrimp from the sea spawn and thrive?"
One Priest asked in disappointment and confusion.
Yarlessto frowned; he too, was unclear about what had gone wrong.
The King left the lakeside and went to the Pattern Garden, hoping to discuss the matter with the Priestly Sages.
In the past, when the Sapo King reigned, that brave and war-loving former King never set foot in the Pattern Garden.
But Yarlessto was different; being the son of a Prophet, he was born a Priest, accustomed to discussing the laws of the world with the learned, and even more skilled at gathering all the wisdom of a Kingdom.
The Priestly Sages within the Kingdom argued from morning to sunset in the golden Pattern Garden. Yarlessto listened to each of their points of view. Some said to expand the Kingdom and resume hunting, while others suggested filling the lakes with seawater to better sustain the fish and shrimp....
Amongst the myriad opinions, Yarlessto heard some thought-provoking words.
"Oh King, I used to be a Hunter and have seen countless land animals.
I think that the ocean is not ours; we, the people of Logos, live on the land all day, and it should not be the sea fish and shrimp that spawn and thrive, but the land animals."
These words sparked an idea in Yarlessto, and the new King approached him with an unmistakable tone,
"Continue."
"Oh King, in my hunts, I often see creatures like wild boars and mountain goats; they appear in groups. Perhaps we could capture them and let them spawn and thrive."
The speaker was not a Priest, but merely a somewhat renowned young Sage.
"Good, good."
Yarlessto nodded repeatedly.
The young Sage’s suggestion clearly seemed more practical.
After all, for the people of Logos during this era, the ocean was too remote, unfamiliar, whereas the land was right under their feet.
Thus, Yarlessto inquired about the young Sage’s name.
"Antion."
The man said.
The name was quite ordinary, simply meaning ’a man with a beard.’
Yarlessto sized him up; the Sage’s beard reached down to his earlobes, fitting the name indeed.
"Antion,
from today forward, you are granted the status of a Priest, and you may enter and exit the Pattern Garden at will."
Antion looked joyfully at Yarlessto, then knelt down, thanking King Yarlessto for his reward.
The other Priestly Sages in the Pattern Garden watched this Sage awarded the Priesthood, revealing emotions of joy, envy, or jealousy... but regardless, they all gathered around to congratulate this young man named Antion.
King Yarlessto’s reward set a precedent.
From then on, anyone within the Kingdom who made outstanding contributions would receive the King’s reward, thus earning the status of a Priest, allowed to tread in the golden Pattern Garden, glorifying their offspring and even their future generations.
